Thomas Risher Newman, 82 of Stanton passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024. Services will be held at 2pm Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at First Baptist Church Big Spring, TX. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park. Tom was born on December 16, 1941 in Big Spring to Thomas and Kawana Newman. Tom went to grade school in Lomax and graduated high school in Stanton, where he played football and ran track. He was active in 4-H, showing lambs and received the Gold Star Award for his record book. Tom married Marilyn Sale on June 21, 1963. They had three children Kevin, Kendall, and Kody. Tom and Marilyn would have been married 61 years this coming June. Tom was a member of the First Baptist Church of Stanton. He served on the Stanton ISD school board. Served as a director of the American Chianina Association, American Jr. Rodeo Association, and the Barrel Futurities of America. Together with Marilyn they built a close-knit family. He had a love for farming and ranching. He also loved helping his kids and grandkids compete in stock shows and rodeos. Tom in his later years enjoyed quail hunting with his dogs and going to Ruidoso to watch his racehorses. One of his highlights was winning the Ruidoso Futurity in 2017. Those who knew Tom knew he loved a good dog, a good horse, and a real show calf. Tom was a very humble man; however, he did everything to the best of his ability and found success in nearly every endeavor. His strong work ethic and will to win has been passed on to his children and grandchildren whom he was so proud of. If you knew Tom, you knew he loved his family with his entire being. He is survived by wife Marilyn, son Kevin and wife Mandy Newman of Stanton, daughter Kody and husband Lonnie Horwood of Sterling City, and bonus son Rusty and wife Melinda Allred of Graham. Grandchildren, Dakota Newman of Stanton, Flint and wife Maggie Newman of Stanton, Tristan Himes of Sterling City, Katlin and Valerie Horwood of Sterling City, Carly and Sam Janca of San Angelo, Tate Horwood of Sterling City, Trisha and Reggie Halfmann of Garden City. Great grandchildren, Grayson Halfmann, Keller Halfmann, Hazel Halfmann, Beckett Janca, Crew Janca, and Scottie Horwood. Brother Fred and wife Debra Newman of Del Rio. Nephews, Tye and Kacie Newman of San Angelo, Robby Newman and Texana Woodward of Pleasanton. Great nieces and nephews Rylin Newman and Reagan Newman. He is preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Kawana Newman, son Kendall Newman, and nephew Clinton Newman. David L. Stevenson, age 59, of Stanton, TX went to be with the Lord February 24, 2024. He was born November 26, 1964 to the late Wallace Oliver Stevenson and Marilyn Griffin Stevenson in Midland, TX. David was an Army Veteran and a mechanic by trade. He enjoyed Harley Davidson motorcycles and working on diesel trucks. He is survived by his wife Donna Stephenson of Stanton, TX, sons; Brian Stevenson, Brent Stevenson, Shawn Cox, Shane Stevenson, Caleb Stevenson, daughters, Kara Shanks, Danielle Fenders, as well as 23 grandchildren. As per keeping with Davids wishes, cremation services have been arranged. A memorial service will be held Monday, March 4, 2024 at Stanton Memorial Funeral Home Chapel at 3:00pm.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. He loved his children dearly and would do anything for them. William Brooks was born to Henry Brooks and Betty Black on February 5, 1944 in Roswell, NM. He married his “sugar,” Wilma McBride, on November 23, 1967. Bill worked for GSA for 30+ years, and after retiring from there he went on to work for Martin County for 15+ years. He was a faithful, lifelong member of the Belvue Church of Christ. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, wife, and two sons (William Eric Brooks and Craig Ferguson Brooks). Visitation will be held from 5:00 p. m. to 7:00 p. m. , Friday, December 8, 2023 at Gilbreath Funeral Home in Stanton, Texas. Margaret was born August 21, 1929 in Stanton, Texas on the family farm to Walter Curtis Flanagan and Annie (Peters) Flanagan. She attended school in Stanton, one of the last to go to the local convent school. In March 1953, she married Alfred Franks and lived in Martin and Midland Counties all of her life. Margaret is survived by her two sons, George (wife) Donna and James (wife) Phyllis. Five grandchildren and six great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death byb her husband of 59 years, Alfred, one brother, Curtis and one sister, Annie Laurie Fox. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Cimarron Place, where she spent her last days. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations be made to Martin County Senior Center, where she enjoyed many happy times. Linda Faye Glaspie Fryar, 73, of Stanton, TX passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2023. Services will be held on Saturday, July 1 at 10:00 am at First Baptist Church in Stanton, with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Stanton. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great nephews. Linda was born on February 26, 1950 in Big Spring, TX to Claud and Grace (McKee) Glaspie. She graduated from Stanton High School in 1968. She was a homemaker and a childcare provider. In April of 1992, she began work at Eiland and Associates in Stanton, and continued working there for almost 31 years, having recently retired. Linda was a member of the First Baptist Church in Stanton. Linda was known for her quiet demeanor, her attention to detail, her cleaning abilities, her paper goods stock, her witty humor, and her chocolate cake. She enjoyed playing the lottery and other various contests. She was thrilled when she won $10,000 playing the dollar game on a local radio contest in November of 2021. Those closest to her know how much time and organization she put into collecting those dollar bills. Linda is survived by her children: Kristi Peterson (John) of Shiner, Craig Fryar (Tracy) of Stanton and Dana Lauderdale (Ricky) of Stanton; one brother, Bud Glaspie (Marilyn) of Stanton, TX, three sisters, Helen Perry (Al) of Dallas, Betty Thompson (Donny) of Hideaway, and LaWanda Lawhorn (Craig) of Temple, and her grandchildren who lovingly called her "Gran": Logan Fryar, Amber Peterson, Alyssa Peterson, Austin Fryar, Carson Lauderdale, Ryan Peterson, Aidan Galaviz, Kynlee Lauderdale and Trace Lauderdale, as well as numerous special nieces, nephews and cousins. Linda is preceded in death by her parents Claud and Grace Glaspie, and her sister, Mary Daughhettee. The family would like to thank Hospice of Midland, Gentiva Hospice, Martin County Senior Center, her special coworkers and friends: Frances, Karen, Teresa, Elaine, and Sissy, and those who have offered support in the form of prayers, kind words and food. The biggest thank you goes to her two granddaughters, Amber and Alyssa, who have been her live-in caregivers for the past few months.
