Linda Kay Chandler Browning, resident of Searcy, departed this life surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, September 10, 2023 from Unity Health - White County Medical Center of Searcy at the age of 62. She was born in Brinkley, Arkansas on August 2, 1961 and was the daughter of Rex and Bonnie Marcum Chandler. On December 26, 1977 Linda Kay Chandler married Davy Browning. She was a 1978 graduate of Des Arc High School and had attended Harding University where she was enrolled in the nursing program. With a generous spirit, Linda was involved with many charitable organizations, the Children's Home, Good Samaritan Center and Hospice to name a few. Linda was an avid biker. She had a love for the open road, and with her husband taking many road trips on their bikes or in their RV. She had a compassion for children, always there with a helping hand or a place to sleep. Linda was a member of The River of Judsonia and had been involved with their preschool program before her illness. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family. Linda is preceded in death by her father, Rex Chandler. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Davy Browning of the home; one daughter, DeAnn Speer and husband Jonathan of Searcy; her mother, Bonnie Chandler of Des Arc; one brother, James Chandler of Des Arc; and one sister, Bobbie Merrell and husband Danny of Des Arc. Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be B. J. Buckner, Ronnie Guthrey, Danny Merrell, Paul Morris, James Stapleton and Kenny Vaughn. Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Hughes and Greg Lisko. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a. m. on Friday, September 15th at the Pumpkin Bend Community Church with Pastor Carl Medley, officiating. Interment will follow in Pumpkin Bend Cemetery. There will be no public visitation. Arrangements by Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home of McCrory.

"Coach Ray V. Shempert, 72, of Wynne, died on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, in Searcy. Ray was born in Wynne, Arkansas, on July 27, 1951, to the late Alton and Eva Dean Hughes Shempert. He was a 1969 graduate of Earle High School. His love for football led to him becoming a high school football coach. In 1978 he began coaching football for the Wynne Yellowjackets, coaching for 33 years. Ray was a great mentor for so many who attended Wynne High School. Ray also taught drivers ed for several years. He married Miss Brenda Owens in 1979. They had two girls, Cassie and Katie. Ray enjoyed yard work, hunting, fishing, 4wheeler riding and cruising the streets. His favorite job was having a family and being a grandfather. He was a member of Wynne First Assembly of God. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Owens Shempert of Wynne, daughters, Cassie Shempert Moore and husband Kenneth of Wynne, Katie Shempert Solis and husband Oscar of Wynne, twin sister, Kay Rogers of Earle, brother, Jim Shempert of Yellville, grandchildren, Shelby, Kasen, Haven, Harrison, Preslee, and Hayes Moore, Eden, Beckham and Lynee Solis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alton and Eva Shempert and sister, Linda Harbison. Visitation will be Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Wynne Baptist Church from 10 until 11 AM. "Francis George Nenes Jr. , 70, of Heber Springs, Arkansas (formerly of Flagstaff, AZ) passed away on November 1, 2023 of natural causes. George was born on August 3, 1953 to the late Francis Nenes and Doris Amberson in Roswell, NM. He attended Arcadia High School in Phoenix, Arizona and, following graduation, took a year to travel the country coast-to-coast before being drafted into the military. In 1973, he transitioned to full-time service in the U. S. Air Force, where he served his country with great pride. Following his military service, George spent the next five decades impacting the lives of friends, family and colleagues through a variety of professional and personal endeavors. He owned a flooring company and later a restaurant before earning credentials as an investment banker and broker. While working in the finance industry, he attended college at night to earn his teaching degree and master's degrees in both psychology and finance. George also served as a foster parent and adoptive father for children in and around Phoenix. George is survived by his wife, Suzanne, whom he first met in grade school. The two were best friends from an early age and remained so through high school before losing touch after graduation. The pair reconnected in 2018, after more than 50 years, and rekindled a friendship that quickly evolved into a long distance love story; with him living in Arizona and her in Arkansas. Following his retirement as a high school science teacher in 2021, he moved to Arkansas to start a new life with Suzanne. The two married in 2021 and recently built their dream home overlooking the Little Red River in Heber Springs. George was predeceased by his first wife, Gail Nenes. He is survived by brother Michael Nenes; sister Marie Wright; daughter Jennifer Nenes; son Levi Nenes (Patricia); Jessica Casebier (Mike); grandson Jake Doyle; granddaughter Megan Nenes; granddaughter Brealyn Watson (Raymond); grandson Dylan Nenes; grandson Isaiah McGill; grandson Shooter Nenes; grandson Georgie Nenes; son Beau (Renee); daughter Heather (Jason); and a host of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at Powell Funeral Home in Searcy, AR on Friday, November 10 at 2 p. m. "Warren Gary Creighton, 84, of Searcy passed away Friday November 3, 2023. Born September 4, 1939, in Omaha, Nebraska to the late Milan and Doris Shoaf Creighton, Warren spent much of his life as a banker. After graduating from the University of Arkansas in 1962, he began his banking career in Memphis, Tennessee serving as Vice President of First Tennessee Bank. From 1966 to 1980 Warren served as Chairman and CEO of UMIC Investment banking: then serving from 1981 to 1987 as Vice Chairman and President of Union Planters National Bank. Warren then furthered his education graduating from Western Theoloical Seminary in Scottsdale, Arizona. He served as a missionary to Romania from 1993 to 1997 and served as Director of Eastern Europe Operations, Enterprise Development International in Romania. Warren and his family lived in Bucharest Romania and while there as missionaries, focused on business and government leaders in his role as Chairman of Cornerstone Associata, a Romanian non-profit organization. After returning from Romania, he served as the Director of Development for First Wesleyan Church/FWMgt. As CEO of UMIC, Warren had extensive experience in developing, financing, and management of housing and health care projects financed by various HUD mortgage insurance programs. As CEO of UMIC Housing Corporation he was directly responsible for developing and managing over 2000 units of Section 8 housing for the elderly. As CAO of First Wesleyan Ministries, he was responsible for all church business activities including oversight of all major auxiliary 501C3 corporations including Wesleyan Arms, Inc. , Westchester Christian Center, Inc. , and Wesleyan Education Center, Inc. In his position he directly supervised the management of all auxiliary ministries. Warren then moved to his full-time position as project manager for Providence Place; a worship, commercial/retail space, skilled nursing and independent living center. Since becoming an Christian in September of 1980, God has used Warrens spiritual gifts of administration to foster the start of many new ministries efforts and organizations. Warren was the founding chairman of Ministry to Men, an organization the sponsors various activities to promote the integration of Christian faith and principles in the marketplace. Warren was the featured speaker at The Maximum Man Conferences and has spoken internationally numerous times. Warren's other ministry activities included Founding Chairman of Hope Now International, Ministry to Men Foundation, and Associata Cornerstone. He served as founding Director for Life Choices, Love Worth Finding, and Spirit Express. Warren is survived by his wife, Ruth Creighton, of the home; Four sons, three daughters, one step-son, 2 step-daughters, along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and other family. Warren in preceded in death by a son, Jonathan Creighton; sister JoAnne Wray, and his brother Milan "Champ" Creighton. Memorial Services will be Thursday November 9, 2023, at The River church in Judsonia with Pastor Keith Tomlison officiating. "Barbara Sue Edens of Bradford, 88 passed away Oct 21 at Providence Senior Living in Searcy. Barbara was born on Oct 15, 1935 in Newport, AR to Harmon and Pauline Ivy Grizzle. She attended and graduated from Newport High School. She was a retired bookkeeper for White County Grain/ Riceland in Bradford. She was a member of Bradford Baptist church for 68 years; she served as treasurer and was on finance and building committees. She was known as a very meticulous housekeeper and an excellent cook. She loved cooking for her family. She was preceded in death by both her parents. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Jimmy R. Edens; two sons, Kim Edens and wife, Beverly of Jonesboro, AR and Keith Edens and wife, Delia of Bradford; grandchildren , Matt Edens and wife, Melanie of Jonesboro, Rachelle Wyatt and husband, Randy of Searcy, Wade Collins of Hot Springs; great-grandchildren , Ravin Treece and husband, Dakota , Makenzie Hardin and husband, Will, Kennady Rogers, Eli Edens and Novak Edens; great great-grandchildren, Bellamy Boatman, Rooke Treece, Swayze Treece, Shep Treece, Whitt Hardin and Wilkes Hardin. She also is survived by a special aunt/sister, Lula Bell Young and husband, Dean Young of Newport, and Peggy Stoner of Jonesboro. "Tommy Gene Dunn passed away on September 28 th 2023 at Unity Health in Searcy. He was born on February 4, 1940 to Thomas F. Dunn and Evangeline Dunn of Bradford Arkansas. Tommy was a great leader/mentor within his family and extended family. He started his career with National Hardgoods. After returning to Arkansas he worked for Walmart Distribution for 23 years. While under his leadership, he was recognized for many accomplishments. He also volunteered many hours for several charitable organizations in the community. Through Walmart, he worked to provide many opportunities in White County. He loved to spend time with Rose fishing together and hosting family gatherings. He was definitely the rock to our family, always there for each of us. He had a knack for spoiling his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Rose; his four daughters and their spouses, Cathy Winningham (John), Sandra Wells (Clay), Cindy Beemer (Rick), and Tammy Dunn; his 5 grandchildren, Josh Winningham (Sara), Sarah Wortham (Rusty), Katie Jackson (Justin), Cory Beemer, and Mary Beemer; his four great- grandchildren Elizabeth, Hollis, Rhett, Luke, Braxton, and Brenden. He is also survived by five siblings, Sandra Singleton (Gene), Jimmy Dunn, Arthur Dunn (Brenda), Becky Singleton, John Dunn (Helga); several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Freddy and Rickey, and great- grandson Clayton Reece. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Visitation and funeral will be at Bradford Baptist Church on Monday, October 2, 2023. Visitation begins at 12:00 with funeral services beginning at 2:00 p. m. with Bro. Dal Hogan and Bro.
