Linda L. (Niedens) Banz, 78, died September 9, 2023, at Legend of Hutchinson. She was born August 8, 1945, in Dodge City, to Leo Alexander and Elsie Louise (Maier) Niedens. Linda grew up on a farm between Dodge City and Jetmore. After graduating Dodge City High School in 1963, she attended Adela Hale School of Business in Hutchinson. Upon graduation from business college, Linda worked as a secretary at Far-Mar-Co, then located in the downtown Hutchinson Wiley building. She was a lightning-fast typist with mad shorthand skills. Far-Mar-Co merged with Farmland and Linda was promoted to various accounting positions. She retired from Doskocil/Tyson, where she managed accounts payable. Linda enjoyed following many sports, including car racing, football, basketball, and her number one team, the Kansas State Wildcats. Art fairs, shopping, traveling, and maintaining a meticulous home were also some of her other enjoyments. Linda was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Hutchinson. On February 4, 1973, Linda married Gary Joseph Banz, in Hutchinson. They shared 50 years of marriage before he died March 11, 2023. Linda is survived by: stepson, Brad Banz (Angie); siblings, Lonnie Niedens (Kathy) and Loetta Walker (Sonny); step grandchildren, Kyle Banz (Savanna) and Melissa Myer (Vernon); five step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: her parents; nephew, Darin Walker, and niece, Christina Walker. Memorial service will be 10:00 a. m. Monday, September 18, 2023, at First Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Sherman, in the little Chapel. (Parking for the little Chapel is on the east side of the church). Inurnment will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Friends may sign her book from 9:00 a. m. to 5:00 p. m. at Elliott Mortuary. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Red Cross, First Presbyterian Church, or Hospice and HomeCare of Reno County, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Robert A. Potter (Bob) was born on February 14, 1928, to Noah Henry and Mabel Inez Elizabeth Potter and died at Atlantic Shores Retirement Center on November 30, 2023, where he was lovingly cared for by the staff and frequently visited by his children and their children and grandchildren. He was born in Inman, Kansas, but lived in Kansas, Colorado, California, Hawaii and several locations from transfers in the United States Navy. He lived in Virginia Beach, Virginia where he retired from the Navy September 1, 1976, as a LCDR. On January 9,1948 he married his childhood sweetheart, E. Morene Seyfrit, who pre-deceased him in March of 2011. They had seven children. Bob was stationed primarily on submarines, as well as some squadrons, a sub tender, and at Dam Neck, Virginia as an instructor at the initiation of Nuclear-powered submarines. He was very proud of his service in the United States Navy and requested to be buried in full dress uniform. Dad and Mom both considered their own kids, and all spouses and in-laws as family. As a result, when children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren are mentioned, all are counted. Bob will be missed by so many, most especially his children: Victoria Sefranek and spouse George, Robert A. Potter II, Marjorie L. Casey and spouse Clifford G. , William O. Potter and wife Kriss, Thomas A. Potter and wife Cindi, James B. Potter and wife Renee, Mary L. Voll and husband Bill; grandchildren, (24 ) Mary, Joe and spouse, Millie, and John Sefranek, Tonya Hughson, Cliff and Jeannine and Joe and Daisy Casey, Regina Potter and Joe Coslett and wife Brigitte, Melissa Polson, Crystal Meerendonk and spouse Ken, Heidi and spouse Jim Barker, Rebecca, Alicia, and Lindsey Potter, and Kyle, Corey and spouse Brandi and Ryan Voll; great-grandchildren: (17) Leandro Sefranek and Harmony, Caleb and Michael Sefranek, Connor Herman, Audriana, Alejandro and Alyssa Casey, Jake and Caroline Polson, Hudson and Willow Meerendonk, and Madysen and Reagan Barker, and Alana, Halee, and Natalia Voll. He was preceded in death by three sisters. Parish Rosary will be 10:00 a. m. December 12, 2023, with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 a. m. , both at St. Teresa Catholic Church, 211 E. 5th Avenue, Hutchinson, with Father Matt Glazier officiating. Burial will follow in McPherson City Cemetery, with Father Benjamin Shockey officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard. The family will greet friends from 9:00 a. m. until service time Tuesday at the church. Robert LeRoy Wiegand, 62, of South Hutchinson, KS, died December 2, 2023, at his home. He was born July 10, 1961, in Denver, CO, to LeRoy R. and Helena A. (Thiele) Wiegand. Robert graduated from Beloit High School and North Central Kansas Technical College with a degree in electronics. He was the owner of Advantage Siding & Windows. Robert loved hunting and fishing, and was an avid Nebraska Cornhuskers and Kansas City Chiefs fan and followed NASCAR racing as well. Robert's other interests included riding his Harley Davidson and participating in league and tournament pool play. He also embraced golf later in life and enjoyed Wii bowling and solving crossword and cryptoquip puzzles. Robert lived life in the moment and to the fullest. He was always there to help anyone in need and gave generously of his time and talents. Robert was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68, where he served for 10 years most recently as the American Legion Riders Road Captain. He was the recipient of the Kansas American Legion Rider Excellence Award in 2022, served as Auxiliary President of the Bob Campbell VFW Post #1361, and as former Vice-chair of the South Hutch Planning Commission. Robert is survived by: his daughter, Ceress Sanders (Sammy) of Newberg, OR, and their children, Lenora and Theodore; sister, Roberta Schonher (Alan) of Castle Rock, CO, and their children, Paige Schonher of Littleton, CO, and Wade Schonher of Highlands Ranch, CO, and many extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents. Cremation has taken place. Rosary will be 6 p. m. Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at Elliott Chapel, with the family present to receive friends until 8 p. m. Golda Marie Pope, 89, of Hutchinson, KS, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on December 2, 2023. She was born on April 25, 1934, in Agenda, KS, to James Vernon Walker and Orpha Evelyn (Kramer) Walker. Golda was a 1952 graduate of Concordia High School and received her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the University of Kansas in 1957. On June 27, 1959, Golda married Russell Hindle Pope, in Overland Park, KS. They shared nearly 64 years of marriage before his death on March 8, 2023. She is survived by: children, Mary (John) Denny of Hutchinson, KS, Rachel (Paul) Wakefield of Hutchinson, KS, Matthew (Elaine) Pope of Hutchinson, KS, Ellen (David) Stebbings of Attleboro, MA, James (Wendy) Pope of Hutchinson, KS, and Steve (Amy) Pope of Colorado Springs, CO; 19 grandchildren; and 44 great-grandchildren; and many extended family members. Golda was blessed and grateful to have such a large and loving family. She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Russell; and brother, James Walker. Golda had a servant's heart and poured herself out for others. Her love language was cooking and she made popcorn, cookies, and meals for many, many people. When Golda wasn't in the kitchen, you could find her in the garden. She took great joy in growing and giving away produce. No matter what she was doing, Golda did her work "heartily, as unto the Lord. " She was a wonderful model of hard work, perseverance, and faithfulness and had a knack for finding and helping those who needed a friend. You couldn't be around Golda long before she would start sharing her Jesus. She was a bold witness and discipled many in the faith including her children, grandchildren, and countless staff at Kansas Bible Camp. Other passions were books and hymns. Golda was an avid reader and loved poetry, committing many poems to memory and writing several of her own. Next to her Bible where she would read at the dining room table there was always a stack of various hymn books. Golda used her nursing degree at Golden Plains Health Care Center and Good Samaritan Society, Hutchinson, KS, and in caring for her aging parents, in-laws and aunts, and her husband, Russell, over the span of 35 years. It was a drive given to her by God. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:30 p. m. Saturday, December 9, 2023, at Hutchinson Gospel Chapel, 2005 Hendricks Street, Hutchinson, KS, with Jeremy Goering officiating. Alicia Gomez Macias passed away on November 26th, 2023, at Hospice House in Hutchinson Kansas. Alicia was born on May 29th, 1946, in Rancho Seco Aguascalientes, Mexico. She is the daughter of Manuel and Cuca Gomez. While in Mexico she cared of her brothers and sisters, as she began a career in the health care industry alongside her mother. Alicia was a neighborhood advocate working with governors and the government to build homes and roads in less developed areas. Alicia dedicated her life to the healthcare profession. She was a nurse for 35 years. Through her tenure as a nurse, she cared for and touched the lives of many people who will truly miss her. She was a true angel and was loved by family and friends. Alicia was a resident of Hutchinson Kansas since 1985. During her time in Hutchinson, she worked in many places. Which included the Anchor Inn working for Tony Flores and his family. She was known for making the best flour tortillas and preaching the gospel to everyone she met. Alicia is survived by her son Sergio Gomez, seven grandchildren, and nine siblings Manuel Gomez, Jesus Gomez, Salvador Gomez, Juan Gomez, Irene Gomez, Rafael Gomez, San Juana Lucio, Jose Luis Gomez, and Leticia Gomez. She was proceeded in death by her parents Manuel Gomez and Cuca Gomez, a brother Antonio Gomez and nephew Alan Antonio Gomez. Funeral Service will be at 11:00. Monday, December 4th, 2023, at "Fe Viva" Iglesia del Nazareno, 820 Lincoln St, Hutchinson, KS 67501, with Pastor Edgar Lopez officiating. Burial will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery.
