It’s with heavy hearts that we announce that after a brief illness, Gary Donald Purser passed away on Monday, January 22 , 2024 at 4:20pm. His legacy is carried on by his Bride, Debra and his 4 amazing Children, Brody Purser (Alison), Matthew Purser (Nicci), Sarah Wasiukow (Mike), and Tyler French (Sheri). His Grandchildren, Ryan, Caitlin, Meghan, Myla, Nolan, Carter, Cooper, Eric, and Shelby will forever miss their “Papa”. Also survived by his big Brothers Alan Purser (Judi), Stuart Purser (Alice), his mother-in-law Emma Van Kruistum, and 5 nieces, 2 nephews and their families. He is predeceased by his loving parents Jack and Ilene (Petch) Purser. Gary was born in Toronto on January 9 , 1954, where he lived until moving to Mount Brydges in 1982. Gary spent 40 years as a respected insurance claims professional, retiring in 2019. We can’t begin to explain how many lives he touched in the course of his career. He cherished his many, many friends. His kindness and loyalty created lifelong friendships. You know who you are, and you all made his life richer. Gary loved to play hockey and was well known for waiting in front of the net to slip in a goal. His friends from the Old Bulls and Mount Brydges hockey will always remember the laughs they shared in the locker room. He was a passionate follower of the Toronto Maple Leafs and would have appreciated another Stanley Cup in his lifetime. He was devoted to music and playing his guitar “Larry”. Friday night jams were treasured and his fellow musicians in Tequila Mockingbird and The Undecided, will forever miss hearing him sing Pretty Good Guy. Gary leaves behind a multitude of friends from across Canada and the U.S., as part of the Fred Head family. Thank you for the memories. Remember that when you sing, you pray twice. Thank you to Heidi and Dr. Taylor at the Southwest Medical Centre and Dan at CDS Pharmacy. Also thanks to the caring staff at Strathroy General Hospital and the Palliative Care Team. We are eternally grateful to Gary’s liver donor and to Dr. Paul Adams and Paul Myers at the Multi-Organ Transplant Unit at London Health Sciences Centre. Thank you for the Gift of 10 wonderful years that we would not have had if not for you. If you are not an organ donor, please consider it. You can save up to 8 lives through your generosity. At Gary’s request cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Gary’s Life will be held on Sunday, January 28th, 2024 at from 1 - 4 pm. On Friday, December 29 , 2023 Garry Ninham of Oneida Nation in his 72nd year began his new journey. Loving father of Janice Ninham and Candace Doxtator. Predeceased by his son Harley Ninham (2007), his father Lloyd Ninham Sr (1994) and his mother Ruth Ninham (1997). Garry was the proud grandfather of Shaelynn Martin, Chayanne Doxtator (Raven), Kanaden Ninham, Breeze Brown, Dryden Brown, Jace Doxtator and great grandson Amari Doxtator. Sadly missed by his brother Bucky Ninham, sisters Arlene Bowman, Virginia Ninham, Alberta Smith and Charlene Ninham as well as many nieces and nephews and will be missed by close friends, Brian, Doug, Carl as well as many others. Remembered by daughter Heather Doxtator. Unexpectedly at Sensenbrenner Hospital, Kapuskasing on Wednesday, December 13 , 2023 Foster Sturgeon, of Chapleau Cree First Nation, in his 54 year. Beloved husband of Catherine Sturgeon (nee Schefke). Loving father and stepfather to Cecil (Harmony) Sturgeon, Tyrone Skylar; Eve (late Barry Sturgeon) Metts, Dolla Metts, Karen (Jesse) Riley. Survived by several grand and great-grandchildren. Son of Dona (late Elston) Sturgeon. Brother to Levi (Tammy) Sturgeon, Hector Sturgeon, Winnifred Sturgeon, Polli (Steve) Sturgeon. Popeye will be greatly missed by Thomas Sturgeon, Roseline (Rishi) Bakshi, Geraldine Sturgeon and many more nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family; Fondly remembered by his dear friends; Mama Michaud, Maxime (Tori) Belanger + Children, and, the Rubber Boot Gang. You could often find Popeye fishing for Sturgeon, hunting for moose and bear or picking blueberries in the bush. He enjoyed spending his time with his family, working on junk, and finding treasures at the dump. Popeye was known so helping everyone he could, even if he didn't know you, he would. It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dear mother Elma Fennema (nee Howlett) at Strathmere Lodge, formerly of Mount Brydges, on Friday December 1 , 2023, in her 84 year. Loving wife for 42 years of the late Minze Fennema (2002). Proud mother of Diane, Helen (John Allison) and Sharon (Jeff) Clark. Elma would take every opportunity to "grab her sweeties", cherishing her grandchildren Daniel (Erin Creed), Lauren and Ryan Allison, Mikayla (Don McLachlan), Kyle and Janine Clark. Affectionately remembered by 3 great grandchildren: Serenity, Victoria, and Reagan McLachlan. Dear sister of Bill Howlett and sisters-in-law Jesse, Betty, Aukje Fennema D'Amore and brother-in-law Lloyd Kettlewell. Predeceased siblings Stuart Howlett, Bernice (Roy) Whiting, Don Howlett, Bell Kettlewell, and sister-in-law Shirley Howlett, and brother-in-law Henk (Inge) Fennema. Elma was a kind and accepting person who enjoyed her time with family, friends, and the community. Elma was a devoted member of the Komoka United Church for 43 years and delighted in the many interactions with the fellow residents of Komoka Mallot Seniors Apartment before moving to Strathmere Lodge. She also enjoyed many outings with special caregiver and friend, Pat Nunes and spending time with her longtime friends Helen Tountas and Gail Irwin. Elma's family would like to thank the staff at Strathmere Lodge for the excellent care and compassion provided during her stay. As per Elma's wishes, a private family interment will take place at Campbell Cemetery, Komoka with dedicated Reverend Wayne Kent officiating.
