Ms. Lillian Norene Holliday McCall, age 94 years, of Smyrna, GA, passed into the loving arms of her Savior peacefully at home with her family on Sunday, May 7, 2023. A funeral service will be held Friday, May 12th at the King Spring Baptist Church, with a reception for family to follow at the church. Interment will be in Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery at 2:30 pm. Ms. McCall was born and raised in Columbia, TN and attended Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma, where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Christian Studies. She married James Donald McCall and had 4 children: Clark Donald, James Mark, Virginia Diane, and Charles Raymond. They resided in Oklahoma and Kentucky before divorcing in 1968. Lillian and her children moved to Smyrna, Georgia to be closer to her brothers Harry Lemon, Jr. and Richard Holliday. In 1975, she received her Master of Education degree (M. Ed. ) degree at Georgia State University. Mrs. McCall was a devoted 5th grade teacher for 24 years spending 19 years at King Springs Elementary School retiring in 1993. She was a 50-year member of King Spring Baptist Church. She adored and cherished her church family and made lifetime friendships that she treasured beyond measure. She frequently spoke of her many years of singing in the church choir, a favorite being the Easter Cantatas. Ms. McCall stood firm on her faith and was happy to share her faith in Christ with anyone needing encouragement and hope. Once Ms. McCall retired, she joined Smyrna Clean and Beautiful and served as a lifetime member. It was here that she made many close friends and dedicated herself to the Smyrna Community that she loved so much. Ms. McCall was an avid sports fan. She attended opening day for her beloved Atlanta Braves for 40 years with close friends who she called "The Baseball Gang. " She also loved her Georgia Bulldogs and attended many games in Athens cheering UGA to victory: "Go Bulldogs!" Lillian enjoyed golfing and bowled with friends in a bowling league. Lillian enjoyed bird watching, playing scrabble, working crosswords, playing piano, drawing, gardening, reading, crocheting, genealogy, and sending cards to those needing encouragement. She loved sweets and had a legendary "stash" of special treats in her home! Lillian loved traveling with family and friends. Directly following retirement, she toured New England, delighting in many road trips across the United States in the 30 years that followed. She attended many Phillips University reunions, loved going to the beach, and cruised the Caribbean, the Hawaiian Islands & Alaska. She visited her family in Australia and enjoyed traveling to Canada. Her greatest joy in life was her family. She was a deeply devoted and loving mother, grandmother ("Dema"), great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and cousin. She loved her family fiercely and unconditionally with all her heart. Lillian's greatest wish was that her children love one another and stay close always. Surviving are her sons, Clark Donald (Katharina Echt) McCall of Snellville, GA, Mark (Christina) McCall of Fernandina Beach, FL, Charles (Carrie) McCall of Smyrna, GA, her daughter, Virginia Diane McCall of Mableton, GA, her grandchildren, Jennifer (Eric) Leal, John (Holly) McCall, Janel (Robert) Bean, Matthew Bilski, Kyle McCall, Meagan (Brandon) King and newly adopted grandson, Julian Watson, her great-grandchildren, Bethany (Ryan) Lingafelter, Tyler McCall, Mark McCall, Jessica Leal, Conner McCall, Jayla Bean, her nephews, Bruce (Vicki) Holliday. Carl Holliday, Rick (Pam) Holliday and Jeff ( Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, Harry Lemon and Panzie Inez (nee Robinett) Holliday, her siblings, Harry (Angelina), Richard (Frankie), and Virginia Inez Holliday, and her grandson, Christopher Bilski. The family gratefully acknowledges Kimberly Cady, Maxine Kirkland, and June Burgess who were the angels that became loving care companions during the last year of her life. Lillian loved these ladies, and her family is eternally grateful for their care and friendship when she needed it the most.
