Roy Lyle

Roy Lyle

Age - N/A

December 2, 2023

"Roy "Butch" Lyle, 67, of Fort Worth, Texas died November 26, 2023 from complications related to cancer. Born on November 11, 1956 in Gainesville, Tx to Yotta and Richard Lyle, Butch was often a man of few words but always big actions. He had many hobbies throughout his life and whatever he did he was all in. Not only was he a master wood craftsman, he could fix practically anything. Along with his natural talent, he possessed an entrepreneurial spirit from a very young age, selling sodas and snacks to neighborhood kids. These early endeavors foreshadowed his future career in the vending business, starting his own business Cobra vending in 1990. Butch believed in hard work, a firm handshake, keeping his word and helping those in need whether they had two legs or four. It is an understatement to say he was one of a kind. As a child he ordered a spider monkey from a boy scout magazine. His father came home one day to a homemade bucking bronco made with four telephone poles, garage door springs and an oil barrel in the sawdust covered backyard. Another evening saw him walking down the suburban street of Forest Hill with a horse he traded for with a neighbor. Throughout his life, he exuded generosity, and empathy, and like the pit bulls he loved so much, he protected all those lucky enough to call themselves family or friend. Butch leaves behind his wife of 42 years Mary Lippe Lyle, son Richard M. W. Lyle of Ft. Worth, father Richard Lyle of San Antonio, sister Megan (Adam) Tabak, niece Amelia Tabak of Houston, mother-in-law Martha (Ralph) Sheer of McGregor, uncle Ronald Lyle, cousin Kathy Clarke of Harrisonburg, Virginia and his beloved furry friends Bella, Winry and Max. He is preceded in death by his mother Yotta Lyle, grandparents Judy and Roy Sweatman, Floyd and Ruby Lyle and grandfather Charley Langston. The Lyle family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Henry Xiong who gave Butch excellent care and extra years, Butch's caregivers at Echelon Place, Guadalupe Monserrat Mejia Velazquez and Charlie Nicolas Tomas, who went above and beyond to care for him in his final weeks. We are forever grateful. Special thanks to the hospice team Larry Dailey, Shannon Willer, Angela Swan and Ryan who were with us until the very end. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Animal Hope (animalhope. org) or the charity of your choice. "Show more

FORT WORTH - Evelyn Cewilla Duffee, 86, passed away peacefully at home on Nov. 28, 2023. Funeral: 12 p. m. Monday, Dec. 4, 2023, in Greenwood Chapel. Interment: Dido Cemetery. She was married for 65 years to Dallon Odell Duffee. They had four children, Stanley, Sharon, Clayton (Paula) and Brad (Chrystal); three grandsons, Shawn, Spenser and Michael; and one great-grandson, Beau. Willa was born at the family home in Talco, Texas on Oct. 27, 1937, to Amos and Lorena Willson. She was an excellent student and graduated with honors in 1955 from Bogota High School. She was offered a full scholarship to college but chose a different path for herself. She wanted out of the tiny little town and off the farm. She moved to Fort Worth and got her first job at a bank. . . . it would be her only job outside the home. She met and married Dallon a few years later. Being a wife and mother would be her life for the next 65 years. When you'd go by to visit, she would be in the kitchen preparing a delicious meal. She had recipes from past generations and had mastered them all. We will all miss her peanut brittle, coconut balls and other goodies at Christmas time. Willa had the uncanny ability to remember dates of every event of family members and recorded them in her bible. She often pulled out her photo albums and recalled days gone by. Pictures spark memories of picking peanuts until her hands would bleed. She told the story of how she would name the cows because she loved them so much and when harvest time came, she would cry. From the time she figured out where eggs came from, she would go the rest of her life never eating one. She learned compassion at a very young age. Willa preferred to live a pretty simple life. She went to the beauty shop on Friday's otherwise she never pampered herself. She enjoyed feeding the birds and sitting on the back porch watching them. She taught us all that God and family are the most important things. She often said, "I just want everybody to get along". She was preceded in death by her husband, Dallon; grandson, Michael; her parents; and her only sister, Vernell.Show more
