Raymond Gamache

Age - 67

December 6, 2023

Raymond Patrick Gamache age 67 of Yakima, WA passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, December 1, 2023. He was born on June 4, 1956, to the late Virgil Walter Gamache and Geraldine "Gerri" Gamache. Ray worked on the family hop farm from the time he could hold a shovel to the time his health could no longer permit it. His passion in life was the outdoors and was often referred to as the mountain man. It started with snowmobiling in his teens to Boy Scout trips with his son which ranged from winter camping trips, numerous summer camp adventures to canoeing the rapids of the John Day River. In his later years he took up the hobby of panning and dredging for gold. This was a hobby that lasted for him until his last days. When he could no longer don the wet suit or endure the cold water, he turned to ordering bags of dirt online that were guaranteed to have gold dust in them and went to panning for gold in the bathtub. He never really found that big nugget, but he was ever so proud of every speck of gold he panned. His last bag of dirt was waiting to be panned at the time of his death. Raymond is survived by his soul mate Cynthia Brown; his children Daniel (Koreena) Gamache of Naches; Sarah (Mark) Hovis of Harrah, WA and Amanda McMurray of Harrah, WA. He is also survived by grandchildren Thomas, Haley and Kylee and step grandchildren Daezah, Treydon and Kainen. Also surviving are his siblings, Kenneth (Chris) Gamache of Yakima, WA; Bernard (Vicki) Gamache of Yakima, WA; Steve (Jocelyn) Gamache of Toppenish, WA; Barbara (Arnie) Bangs of Wenatchee, WA; Paul (Trudy) Gamache of Selah, WA; Arlene Neal of Wenatchee, WA and multiple nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends. He was preceded in death by his nephew Jared Gamache, his brother-in-law John Neal and his unofficial son-in-law Brian Sellers. No service is planned per Rays wishes.Show more
