Ian C. Bell, 94, of Florham Park, NJ passed away peacefully on December 2, 2023 at his home. Ian was born on May 26, 1929 in Flushing, New York to Constance Garden and Charles W. A. Bell of Endinburgh and Dolbeattie, Scotland, respectively. He spent his early and formative years in East Orange, NJ progressing through that city's school system. As a youth, he was very proud of having met all the requirements to become an Eagle Scout at the age of 13 1/2 . He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Lehigh University in 1951, majoring in Finance. Drafted into the US Army in that year, Ian served in Korea for 16 months. Upon returning to the US, Ian worked in the Controller's department of Esso Standard Oil Company for five years during which time he received an MBA degree from Rutgers University and from there joined EBS Management Consultants, NYC for six years. He had a broad and diversified financial career involving accounting, auditing, economics and investment research, financial analysis and management. He was a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) with 25 years of experience in securities analysis and portfolio management, including service with Fidelity United Trust Co as a trust officer, The American Re-Insurance Co. , Lazard Freres, and Vice President with Merrill Lynch Capital Markets. His professional affiliations included the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts, the Financial Analysts Federation and the New York Society of Securities Analysts. Ian was married in 1958 to Virginia Anne Thomson of Glen Ridge, NJ who prematurely passed away in 1976. They had two daughters; Patricia Hall and Sandra Cantrell, both of Whippany, NJ. He was predeceased by his parents, and subsequently, his brother, Robin James Bell. He is survived by his second wife, Jane Rooney Zibold-Bell whom he married in 1982, with Jane having two children, Heidi Zibold Catalano of Westwood, NJ and Gregory Zibold of Sturbridge, MA. Ian and Jane have a combined number of 12 grandchildren. Having lived in Florham Park since 1960, Ian, in retirement, was a lifelong reader and a familiar face in the libraries of Florham Park, Madison, and Morris County, NJ. He was an avid lifetime golfer, and in later years developed an interest in national politics. He was a great father and devoted husband, blessed with an excellent sense of humor. He had a wonderful life and loving family and will be missed by many. Doris Kohan Matthijssen, 88, of Florham Park, NJ, passed away suddenly on Monday, October30, 2023 at BrightView Senior Living in Randolph, NJ. Doris was born in Mahanoy City, PA to John and Anna Kohan on March 29, 1935. She graduatedMahanoy City High School and went on to study nursing. She earned her RN degree fromPottsville Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a nurse for the VA Hospital in East Orange,NJ until her marriage to Rudy in 1960. She later earned a Bachelor's of Arts Degree inPsychology from Caldwell College. Doris lived in East Hanover for over 30 years beforemoving to Florham Park and was also a part-time resident of Naples FL and Dingmans Ferry,PA. While living in East Hanover and raising her children, Doris was an active member of the EastHanover PTA and Suburbanites. She was also a member of the East Hanover RepublicanClub. She and her husband traveled extensively and enjoyed dining in fine restaurants. Dorisreported their dining experiences in the "Dining with Doris" column that she wrote for thelocal newspaper. She equally enjoyed hiking around the lake of their mountain home,searching for huckleberries, as well as spending time near the ocean. After retiring, Doris enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren, her many friends,traveling and playing golf. Doris was predeceased in death by her son, Kenneth and husband, Rudy. She is survived by her son, Scott Matthijssen, of Matthijssen Business Systems, along withhis wife, Judy Matthijssen of Peapack NJ, grandsons: Chase, Cooper, Devin and his wife,Pam, of San Diego, CA, along with six siblings: Joan Morgan of Mahanoy City PA, and Jack;Marilyn Kohan of Mountainside, and Gene; BettyJane Kohan of Washington Crossing PA, and Bill;Elaine Kohan of York PA, and Joe; Lisa Kohan of Wilmington NC, Nancy Kohan of Vero Beach FLalong with many nieces and nephews. Burial service will be a private family ceremony where she will be laid to rest at RestlandMemorial Park in East Hanover on November 30th. Mueller, Charles George, age 93, of Windermere, FL formerly of Florham Park, NJ passed away on October 24, 2023. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 67 years, Florence, in 2021, and is survived by their two children Rick Mueller and his wife Monique, of Florham Park, NJ and Cheryl Simpson of Windermere, FL; as well as six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Born in Newark, NJ, Charles (Charlie, or Chuck to many) lived his entire life on Brooklake Road in Florham Park. He attended Madison High School, Newark College of Engineering (now known as NJIT) and ultimately obtained his law degree from Seton Hall University. His professional career included selling commercial washing machines to being an electrical engineer at Western Electric until ultimately practicing law in Florham Park as well as Tom's River. Charles was civic minded; serving as Chairman of the town's Light Industry Committee as a young man, helping establish the town's reputation as business friendly and keeping property taxes low. He was one of the original volunteers of the Florham Park Fire Department, was the first President of the Rotary Club during its inaugural year in Florham Park and handled legal matters as the attorney for the Florham Park Sewerage Authority as well. Tom Vazzano, a beloved husband, devoted father, cherished son, and dear brother, passed away peacefully on October 14th, 2023 in the presence of his loving family. His memory will forever remain in our hearts as we celebrate a life well-lived. Born to Agnes Vazzano and the late Joseph Vazzano, Sr. , Thomas entered this world on March 16, 1958. He grew up in a loving family, and from an early age, it was clear that he possessed a warmth and kindness that would define his life's journey. Tom was a dedicated husband to his beloved wife, Sharon Vazzano, and a loving father to Deanna Garay, her husband Juan, Tommy Vazzano, and step-father to Stephanie DiIonno, her husband Brian Brady, Matthew DiIonno, Mark DiIonno, and Laura DiIonno. His family was the center of his world, and he was a constant source of love, guidance, and unwavering support for them. Tom was also excitedly awaiting the arrival of his first grandchild, a joy that added a new dimension to his life. Tom was a dedicated optician and business owner of Towne Vision Center, where he pursed his passion of helping others see the world more clearly for over 30 years. Tom's expertise and warm personality made him a favorite among his clients. He had a remarkable ability to put people at ease, and his commitment to the well-being of his patients was unwavering. Throughout his life, Tom exemplified dedication and compassion. He was a friend to all and a reliable source of comfort for those in need. To all who knew Tom, he was man of few words, but never failed to provide his kindness, generosity, and a smile that could brighten even the darkest days.
