Edward Carl Grant Jr. (Ed), 81, of Louisville, KY died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2023, at his home surrounded by family after a long battle with cancer. He was born May 1, 1942 to Edward Carl Grant Sr. and Adrienne Grant (Schevetto), and was reared since age 4 in Louisville, KY by Phillip Schevetto Sr. and Adrienne Schevetto. Ed served as a proud veteran of the US Navy from 1960 to 1964 where he gained expertise as an electrician, gaining recognition in his field. He had many fond memories of working as a flight mechanic on helicopters on the USS Intrepid and his time on the Naval Base in the Azores. During his time in the Navy, Ed married his high school sweetheart Patricia (Pat) Summers in 1963 and cherished 60 years of love and marriage. After serving in the Navy, he took his talents to a series of elevator companies including KM White, Fairhall, Armor, and Kone before opening his own business, ETS in 1996. He was a member of the International Union of Elevator Constructors (IUEC Local 20). Ed was known for his "tough but fair" leadership style, immense determination, and ability to "trouble shoot" any problem that came his way. In retirement, Ed's passion was training, riding, and caring for his horses. He enjoyed sharing his love of horses with Pat, his children, and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Pat Grant; daughters Melody Reibel (Michael) and Carla Wallace; grandchildren, Vic Reibel, Olivia Reibel, Julia Reibel, Joshua Reibel and Brooke Wallace; and siblings, Phyllis Conrey, Phillip "Sonny" Schevetto Jr. (Kathy), Patricia "Patty" Combs (Kennie); He is predeceased by his father, Edward Carl Grant Sr. , mother, Adrienne Schevetto, stepfather, Phillip Schevetto Sr. , brother-in-law, Jim Conrey, and son-in-law, Eric Wallace. Funeral mass is 10am Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 5505 Bardstown Road. Following mass a celebration of life will be held at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road concluding with a time of remembrance and military honors at 1pm.
