Lewis Edward Seger of Newmanstown went home to be with his Savior on September 9, 2023. Lewis was born November 19, 1949, to parents Bernard and Ruth Seger of Beltsville, MD. Lewis graduated from Bladensburg Vocational High School in 1968. He went on to work as a maintenance electrician at the University of Maryland. In 1973 he entered full-time ministry at Teen Challenge Training Center in Rehrersburg, Pennsylvania. There he worked both on the farm as a Herdsman and subsequently as the Construction Trades Coordinator. He continued to work in various ministries and positions until 1991 when he could no longer work due to his declining health. Lewis continued to be a blessing and example to everyone he met, always looking for ways to help others. He could often be found volunteering to help with projects for friends, family, and church despite his disabilities. In 2012 he fulfilled a lifelong dream when he helped build a church in the village of Chiselet, Romania. Lewis loved to laugh and sing. In his younger days, he could frequently be found playing practical jokes on unsuspecting victims. He grew up singing with his family often in place of a radio in the car. He sang in two different gospel quartets through the years and served as a choir director while living in Virginia. Lewis could, until his last days, be found bursting out in song at random times and places. We know that he is now enjoying singing in the Heavenly Choir. Lewis is survived by his wife Darlene Seger, and by his sons James Seger, Jason and wife Melinda Seger, daughter Julie, and husband Jason Bowman, as well as seven grandchildren Sara Turner, Alexis Seger, Kyndall Seger, Austin Bowman, Mason Bowman, Braylon Turner, and Tristian Seger, also his siblings Donald and wife Margret Seger, Juanita Olson, Audrey and husband David Ogden, Barbara and husband Kenneth Lammers, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents as well as foster son David Woodrow French and granddaughter Morgan Anne French. Please check back for Memorial Service information as final details are not complete. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Living Stones Christian Fellowship:please note in memo, Romania Mission; 229 E. Main St. Newmanstown, PA 17073.
