Obituary of Rev. Leslie W. Moats Rev. Leslie Walter Moats , 93, of Terra Alta , passed away on February 14, 2019 at his home. He was born August 31, 1925 in Crellin, MD, a son of the late Grant Fillup and Theadosia (Shipp) Moats. Leslie was employed as a park ranger and retired after 31 years with the State of Maryland and the Smallwood State Park in Charles County, MD. He ministered numerous area churches and was a founding member of the Ironside Rescue Squad in Charles County, MD. He is survived by a son, Walter and Loretta Moats of Terra Alta; two step sons, Darrell Werdebaugh of Oakland, MD and Bradley and Sherry Ruth Werdebaugh of Oakland, MD; a step daughter, Cheryl and Edgar Uphold, Jr of Oakland; three grandchildren, Brian, Jennifer and Amanda; ten great grandchildren; many step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; a sister, Betty Louise Tennant of Morgantown; a half-brother, Kenny Moats of OH; a half-sister, Hilda of Morgantown and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Millicent (Frantz)Moats; his second wife, Alice Jeanette Moats; three brothers, Israel, Wade and Harry; and three sisters, Gwendolyn, Loretta and Deloris. Family and friends will be received at the Arthur H. Wright Funeral Home in Terra Alta on Monday, February 18, 2019 from 11:00 am until the 1:00pm service time.
