He was born on February 15, 1960, in Logansport, the son of John and Thelma (Hamilton) Hoover. He married Mary Louise McCartney, and she preceded him in death. Beverly Sims, 87, of Fort Wayne passed away on February 19th, 2024. Beverly was born in Shelbyville to Frank and Agnes McMullen on July 23rd, 1938. She graduated from Elmhurst High School, where she made many friends and met her husband of 66 years, Richard Sims. Bev and Dick married on October 30th, 1958 in Fort Wayne, Indiana and had two sons, Steven and Scott. Beverly thoroughly enjoyed her career as a Stock Transfer Manager with Lincoln Financial; she spent 40 years with Lincoln and loved to travel with the company and coordinated employee banquets for many years after retiring. Bev loved nothing more than spending time with her family and friends, always taking care to ensure those that she loved were happy, comfortable, and well-fed. She is survived by her husband, Richard; sons, Steve (Leisa Jones) Sims, Scott (Connie) Sims, as well as her grandchildren, Andrew (Rachel) Sims, Nick Sims, and Lauren Sims. Beverly was especially enthralled with her great-grandchildren, Adelaine and Rex Sims. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton Street, with calling from 10 am until the services. Burial will follow at Covington Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Roanoke, Indiana.

Thomas Angel Diaz, age 74, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, IN.Tom was born on July 17, 1949 in Naranjito, Puerto Rico to the late Demetrio and Felicita (Ortiz) Diaz. On November 25, 1972, he married Rita Bakle who survives. Tom proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Tom was a member of the Paulding V.F.W. Post 587, Paulding Knights of Columbus, and the Maumee Valley Car Club in Defiance. He served as a reserve deputy for the Paulding County and Van Wert County Sheriff's Offices. Tom served on the Paulding Village Council for 10 years and was involved with many other community organizations. He was a devoted member of Divine Mercy Catholic Parish, Paulding.Although Tom was not born in Paulding, he adopted it as his hometown when he moved here in 1974. He could often be found at Holly Wood & Vine Cafe in the morning and McDonald's in the afternoon, always with his companion dog, Xena. One of the greatest things about Tom was that he never met a stranger. He loved to tell stories and make people smile and laugh, especially children. He was a great friend to anyone and everyone.Along with his wife, Rita, Tom is survived by his two sons: Anthony "Tito" (Kathryn) Diaz, Queen Creek, AZ; Demetrius (LeeAnn) Diaz, Louisville, KY; twin sister, Carmen (Bill) Sibillia, Richmond, VA; sister, Anna (Miguel) Pagan, Parrish, FL; grandson, Dakota Diaz, Paulding, OH; great grandson, Jaxon Diaz; many loving nieces and nephews.Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Divine Mercy Catholic Parish, Paulding with Father Austin Ammanniti officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Jackson Township with military rites accorded by the Paulding V.F.W. Post 587.Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. on Friday, February 23, 2024 at Den Herder Funeral Home with a rosary service at 7:30 P.M. There will also be visitation from 10:00 A.M. until time of services on Saturday at the church.The family requests no flowers or funeral memorabilia. Sabatino “Babe” Gentile, age 99, of Fort Wayne, IN passed away on Monday, February 19, 2024. Born on April 19, 1924, he was one of nine children born to the late Valerio and Paulina (Lobreste) Gentile. At the age of seventeen, Babe answered his country’s call and enlisted in the United States Army, serving honorably during World War II. In 1951, he married the love of his life, Elizabeth “Liz” Raucci. They spent the next 62 years building their life together until her passing in 2013. Babe was the owner of Midwest Chemical in Fort Wayne. When not working, he enjoyed cooking for anyone and everyone. He also enjoyed working in his garden and spending time with family and friends. Family was important to Babe, and the growing generation of great great nieces and nephews brought joy and purpose to his final years. Left to cherish his memory are his sister, Connie Buonomo; many nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and great great nieces and nephews. Babe was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Elizabeth Gentile. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 26, 2024, at Saint Jude Catholic Church, 2130 Pemberton Drive, Fort Wayne, IN 46805 with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. Babe will be laid to rest at Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Scott M. Sorg, age 57, of Fort Wayne, IN, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 18, 2024. Born on May 28, 1966, he was the son of John and Carolyn Sorg. Scott was a graduate of Bishop Luers High School and St. Joseph College in Rensselaer, IN. Most recently, he worked at Bob Evans Restaurant in Plymouth, IN. When not working, Scott enjoyed his two passions in life, fishing and gardening. He loved to fish any chance he could get. He also had a great love for watching the Dallas Cowboys play football and was a true Cowboy’s fan. Scott will be remembered as a kind and generous soul who loved life and lived it to its fullest. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Jordyn (Evan) Hall, Madyson Sorg, and Alex Sorg; grandchildren, Eden and Killian; mother, Carolyn Sorg; father, John Sorg; siblings, Todd, Jude, and Shane Sorg, and Linda (Larry) Wise; and many nieces and nephews. Scott was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents. He leaves behind his wife of 21 years, Miranda Atkinson, 3 amazing children, Julie Ann Atkinson (Nick Brooks), Logan Dewan Atkinson, and Charisma Dane Atkinson, 3 grandchildren, Amalia Brooks (his Molly Dolly), Zion Brooks (his mini me), and Atreus Dewan Brooks, 2 extra sons, Mark Parrish and Steeven Richards, his father, Charles Atkinson, father and mother-in-law, Mike and Teresa Parrish, mother-in-law, Melodi Parrish, sisters, Melissa (Dave) Prichard (his Missy mom), Nancy Siler, Mary Jo (Meg) Murphy, Amanda (Scott) Hoagland, and Brittany (Tommy) Smith, brothers, Chuck Atkinson, Chad (Brenda) Parrish, Jeremy (Tamara) Parrish, Zach (Kimberly) Parrish, Ethan (Taylor) Parrish, and so many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mama, Mary Atkinson, brother-in-law, Stephen Siler, nieces, Amber May, and K’leigh Marie, and great nephew, Ace Stephen Siler Richards. If you were lucky enough to know Cliff, then you’ve had A LOT of laughs. He was goofy and silly, and loved to rough house and do cool ninja tricks! He loved playing games with his family, and Sunday was his favorite day of the week because it was family day! Cliff was a provider and a protector. He made sure his family was taken care of no matter his sacrifice. We were blessed to have him for the short time here on earth. His passion to throw himself into whatever interests his children had was beautiful! He mastered everything he did, just being good didn’t cut it.
