Dr. Gene Boychuk

location-icon

West Palm Beach, FL

With profound sadness we announce the death of Dr. Gene Boychuk. He passed away peacefully at his home in West Palm Beach surrounded by family on Friday, February 9th, 2024. Dr. Boychuk was born in Stryi Ukraine in 1932. He fled Ukraine in the middle of the night with his family and all they could carry in three suitcases in order to escape the horrors of war. They made their way through Poland and eventually to the United States where they set out to build a new life for themselves. He later returned to Germany where he met Elisabeth, the woman who would become the love of his life. He married, received his medical degree and then they returned to Troy, New York where he did his residency as an Obstetrician and Gynecologist. He soon found his way to Cleveland Ohio where he practiced for 40 years. Over the course of his career, he delivered thousands of babies, for which he took a great deal of pride. He was admired for his surgical skills and entrepreneurial spirit. He will be remembered as a sharp dresser, for his smile, warmth, energy and work ethic, and for his love and dedication to his family. He lived life on his own terms and had a herculean work ethic. He made a positive difference in the lives of many people. Throughout his life he showed an immense amount of courage and passed that and his life-long love of learning and intellectual curiosity to his children and grand kids. He possessed a great capacity to care for everyone and refused to judge or dismiss anyone. He was generous and always willing to help out anyone in need. He loved to play soccer and tennis and after he retired, he settled in West Palm Beach, Florida where he still enjoyed working in the yard, doing home repairs and enjoying his new found interest in golf. Despite the late start, he surprised us all by hitting 5 holes in one. Dr. Boychuk is preceded in death by his brother George, his mother, Olga Rymar and his father, Stanley Boychuk. He is survived by his beloved wife, of 63 years, Elisabeth , his brother, Orest (Marika), his three children, Andrew (Pamela), Patricia Boychuk and Angela Salisbury (Tom) as well as two grandchildren Brandon and Brittany. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to either the Alzheimer’s Association or the charity of your choice.
