Jackie Agnew was born August 17, 1940, to the late John Agnew Sr. and Lillie D. Rowe. He was the fourth child of fourteen. He made his transition from this world to be with our Heavenly Father November 19, 2023, in Shreveport, Louisiana, in the comfort of his home. Jackie grew up in Caruthersville, Missouri. As a child he enjoyed the 4H club, farming, fishing, and hunting. He attended Washington High School where playing basketball was something he loved. He also enjoyed dancing with the company of friends. After graduating high school in 1959, he enlisted into the Air Force where he traveled across the country and abroad. While stationed in the cold atmosphere of Greenland, Jackie received his lifelong nickname "JACK FROST"! After four years of serving our country, he received an honorable discharge in 1963. Spending a short time in Kansas City, Missouri, he relocated to Anderson, Indiana, where he would receive employment with General Motors before transferring to Shreveport, Louisiana. After working there for over 30 years he retired from General Motors in 2006. Jack continued his love for family, gardening, dancing and walking his dog, Chewy. He was preceded in death by his father: John, Sr. ; mother: Lillie D. ; four brothers: John Jr. , Roosevelt, Freddie, & Jimmie Ray; and five sisters: Juanita, Goldie, Mary Francis, Ernestine, & Dorothy Faye. He is survived by his two sons: Anthony Agnew & Kenneth (Thessa) Agnew; daughter: SueQuancia Washington; three brothers: Richard (Jean) Agnew, Charles (Eunice) Agnew of Anderson, Indiana, William Agnew of Caruthersville, Missouri; sister: Addie Foreman; and sister-in-law: Lelo Agnew of Caruthersville, Missouri; seven grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at Divine Holiness Church in Caruthersville, Missouri, with Pastor Jamie Jones officiating. Interment followed in Magnolia Cemetery. H. S. A life’s journey that began many years ago in St. Louis, Missouri came to a peaceful end after 93 years of life filled with wonderful experiences amongst family and friends. Surrounded by family and loving friends, Rita Stroup Thoma completed her life’s journey and was reunited in heaven with her husband of 55 years, Gene A. Thoma, on Monday, December 4, 2023. Born June 12, 1930, to George Lawton Stroup and Marguerite Walsh Stroup, Rita grew up in a loving family with five sisters (Mary Ellen Fultz, Jane McGah, Marge Reuter, Sally Waddock and Nancy Marshall), and a cousin (Vonnie Stroup). While working as a secretary, she met Gene A. Thoma, and a romance developed and blossomed. They were married on June 18, 1949. The union of Gene and Rita produced four children. After the birth of her first child in 1950, Rita dedicated her life to her husband, her family, and making the world a better place to live. Rita was preceded in death by her father, her mother, her husband, and her sisters. Rita is survived by numerous loving family members including her daughters, Terry Kevil and Tammy Boytim and husband, Jeff; sons, Tom Thoma and wife, Maria and Todd Thoma and wife, Michele; daughter-in-law, Paula Thoma; grandchildren, Chris Kevil and wife, Glenda, Jenny Kevil Donnermeyer and husband, Chris, Chase Boytim and wife, Shelby, Lindsey Starkey and husband, Kyle, Taryn Dennis and husband, Carl, Steven Thoma and wife, Trisha, Michael Thoma, Amanda Thoma-Rowland and husband, Nathan and Thomas Thoma and wife, Lauren; great-grandchildren, Chris Boytim, Ben Kevil, Claire Kevil, Carter Starkey, Amelia Starkey, Emerson Thoma-Rowland, Beckham Thoma-Rowland, McClendon Thoma-Roland, Carpenter Thoma-Rowland, Brayden Dennis, Nora Dennis, Liam Dennis, Alison Thoma, Adrienne Thoma, Theo Thoma, and Elle Thoma. Rita is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews that she loved as though they were her own children. There will be a visitation between the hours of 5:00 p. m. to 7:00 p. m. on Friday, December 8, 2023 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall St. , Shreveport, Louisiana. The funeral service will take place at 12:30 p. m. on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 204 Patton Avenue, Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Father Karl Daigle, Priest of Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Honoring Rita as pallbearers will be grandsons, Chris Kevil, Chase Boytim, Steven Thoma, Michael Thoma, Thomas Thoma and grandsons-in-law, Kyle Starkey, Carl Dennis, and Nathan Rowland. The family would like to express their gratitude for the kind and compassionate care given to our mother by Dr. Steen Trawick, Dr. Roan Fleniken, Dr. Bill Haynie, and his precious nurse, Korie Faust, Dr. Phillip Garavaglia, Dr. Jerry Toups and his precious nurse, Kim. Mom drew so much comfort from all of you, especially at the end of her life. Funeral Services for Paul Michael "Mike" Simmons, 76, of Bossier City, Louisiana, will be held on Friday, December 8, 2023, at Cypress Baptist Church in the Lagniappe Hall, 4701 Palmetto Road, Benton, Louisiana at 2:00 p. m. Burial will follow at Rose-Neath Cemetery, 5185 Swan Lake Road, Bossier City, Louisiana. A visitation will be held on Friday, December 8, 2023, at Cypress Baptist Church, from 12:00 p. m. until time of service. Officiating the service will be Pastor John Fream. Paul Michael "Mike" Simmons was born on February 27, 1947, to Raymond and Dorothy Simmons in Shreveport, Louisiana, and passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2023, in Shreveport, Louisiana. Mike received his Associate Degree in Biblical Studies. He pastored at Stonewall Methodist, in Stonewall, Louisiana, and Denton Methodist, in Denton, Texas. He worked in trucking for the last 30 years of his career as a manager, dispatcher, and driver for Martin Transport. He was a Deacon, Sunday School teacher, and the unofficial greeter at Cypress Baptist Church. He loved reading his Bible and sharing his love of scripture. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and being outside taking in all of God’s creations and creatures. He loved spending time with his family, sharing smiles, and his gentle spirit with others. He never met a stranger but when he did, he shared God’s love with them. He would often buy Bibles with recipients’ names on them as gifts. He treasured his Sunday School class and the friendships he shared. He loved his daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren, and "His Pat" as he often referred to her. He was truly a wonderful man and will be missed dearly by all who knew him. Paul Michael "Mike" Simmons was preceded in death by his parents; beloved mentor Brother Frank Beauchamp; and stepmother, Frances Simmons. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Pat Dupuis Simmons; daughters, JoAnna Milholen and husband, Ryan, Courtney Bouillon and husband, Brian; grandchildren, Lainey Bouillon and fiancée, Trey Malone, Caleb Milholen, Lexy Bouillon, and Brittany Milholen. Honoring Mike as pallbearers will be Shaun Mrozik, Mike Rowland, Jerry Morris, Gary Pearce, Mike Edmunds, Trey Morris, Jim Broughton, and Mike Giles. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Bayne Lee, Pierce Nicholson, Mike Barr, and Charles Sojourner. The family would like to offer special thanks to Willis Knighton Rehab Dialysis Center Staff, Willis Knighton Hospital staff, Encompass Rehab staff, and St. Joseph Hospice Carpenter House for all they did for Mike and his family during this time.Show more
