Leroy Crawford Obituary

Leroy E. Crawford of Conroe, Texas went to be with the Lord on April 21, 2023. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Frances Crawford and sons David Crawford and wife Chris ofHouston, and Brian Crawford and wife Cammy of Conroe. He is also survived by his brother GlenCrawford of Charleston, Illinois. Leroy will be greatly missed by his four grandchildren Audrey, Kelly,Sarah, Owen and great grandson Jackson along with his many friends. Born in Manhattan, Kansas in 1935 to Wade and Edith Crawford, Leroy lived in five different statesbefore his family settled in Abilene, Texas. He graduated from Texas Tech University with a CivilEngineering degree. Upon graduating in 1957, he worked for the Texas Highway Department BridgeDivision, eventually becoming Director of Bridge Design before retiring after 32 years. He served in theSea Bee Reserves and was discharged in 1961. Leroy and Fran raised their two sons in Manchaca, Texas for 20 years, and spent many years enjoyingtime on golf courses and touring the USA in their motor home. Eventually, Huntsville became their homewhere they enjoyed wonderful Elkins Lake friends and were members of First Presbyterian Church ofHuntsville. Two years ago, Leroy and Fran moved to Conroe and joined First Presbyterian Church ofConroe. Leroy never met a stranger and remembered his score on every golf hole he ever played.
