Mary Guzman

location-icon

Von Ormy, TX

"It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Guzman announces her passing on Tuesday February 6, 2024, at the age of 81. She passed away at the hospital surrounded by her family. Mary was born on Christmas Day in 1942, the first of 22 children to Edward and Angelita Everett in Seymour, Texas. This was just the start of a super large family. She is preceded in death by her parents, and six sisters: the first little Betty, Juanita, Dora, and Sandy Everett, Annie Gonzalez, and Margaret Stanocheck and brothers in law, Domingo Gonzalez, Hank Fillet, Nathan Campobasso, Marty Sullivan, and nephew, Sam Sullivan. Mary will forever be remembered by her husband, Jose L. Guzman, and her children, Patricia Lanfranco (David), Carol Guzman, Jose L. Guzman, III(Martha), and JoAnne Clinton (David). She will also be lovingly remembered by her brothers and sisters Betty Fillet, Sylvia Everett, Angelita Griffitts (Fred), Stella Sullivan, Edward Everett, Jr, Rebecca Campobasso, Monica Galiza(Leonard), Ernest Everett, Debra Urbina, Theresa Buttafuco (Tommy), Paul Everett (Cindy), Jaqueline Everett, Thomas John Everett (Lori), Jovita Everett, Michelle Everett (Mark), fifteen grandchildren, Angel Guzman, Aaron Lanfranco (Christina), Adrian Lanfranco, Jennifer Davila (Lee), Elvis Valdez, Jose L. Guzman, IV, David Lanfranco, Jr, Monica Lanfranco, Jasmine Gage, Alexander Hayek, Michael Guzman, Gabriel Hayek, Lyla Lelani Elliott, Mason Guzman, and Jonathan Guzman. Mary was also a proud great-grandmother to Oliver Davila, Jameson and Jasper Gage, Jax, Stella and Sonalee Lanfranco, Cameron Kennedy, and Carlo Ojeda. With the family being so scattered from coast to coast, Mary loved catching up with siblings, cousins, children, and grandchildren. She especially looked forward to family reunions and visiting her cousins in Wichita Falls. But at home, she was a collector; She had a crazy passion for dolls and antiques that adorned most of her house except the room where Joe said NO. You could often find her picking out new treasures for her collection. Mary was also known for her love of baking and serving up her tasty treats for all the family. Mary started her career as a telephone operator at Michigan Bell in the late 1960’s. She also spent her summers recruiting children for the Migrant school program, before moving to Texas and continued her career at Southwestern Bell. After many of service in the telecommunications field, she finally retired from Verizon. She enjoyed her work and made numerous lifelong friends in the industry. The family would like to invite you to join them to celebrate Mary’s life in a Memorial Service on Thursday, February 15, 2024. The Rosary will begin at noon at Camero Funeral Home, 20567 Hwy 16 South, Von Ormy, Texas 78073. Visitation from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. The reception will follow at Hacienda Real in Natalia, Texas, at 2:00 pm."
