Marsha Spiegel

Age - 90

November 23, 2023

Marsha Spiegel passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 19th, 2023, at age 90. She was surrounded by her family and shared a desire to be with her beloved husband of sixty-four years, Frank. Marsha was the proud mother of Kathleen Spiegel and Gregory Spiegel. She was the adored grandmother of Ryan Lorenz, Ashley Aycock, Sydney Spiegel, and Sam Spiegel. She was blessed to have a great-granddaughter, Ryan Scarlett Aycock. Marsha Spiegel was an executive secretary for many years with the Daughters of Charity. She was also an incredibly devout football fan who never missed a Baltimore Colts or Ravens game, with the exception of one: the day Greg was born. She won almost every fantasy football league she participated in, often beating her loving nephew Daniel Weber. Marsha Spiegel was an independent, strong-willed woman, who helped run the family business pretty much until her last days, alongside her husband, her son, and Michael Kramer. Michael was very much like a son to her. Marsha frequently provided her family with amazing home-cooked meals, home-made pies, and the often-requested best coffee cake in all of Maryland. Her memory will forever be a blessing to all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, Marsha has asked for the consideration of a donation to a charity she frequently contributed to - St. Jude's Children's Hospital. A small, private ceremony to honor Marsha will be arranged by the family. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Marsha Ann Spiegel, please visit ourShow more

Peggy Hurtt

Peggy Hurtt

Age - 65

November 17, 2023

Margaret "Peggy" Hurtt, a woman who could bowl a strike with her eyes closed and solve a sudoku puzzle faster than you could count to 9, took her final bow on November 14, 2023. Born on Valentine's Day in 1958, in Maryland, Peggy was a woman who loved fiercely, laughed often, and never missed an opportunity to cheer her granddaughter on at a swim meet or soccer match. She left us from Glen Burnie, MD, and while we're all a little bit sadder, heaven just got a whole lot funnier. Peggy was a woman who lived life with a vibrancy that shone a light on everyone she encountered. When she wasn't knee-deep in a good book, you could find her solving a challenging puzzle or having a "spa day" with her granddaughter. Her favorite season was football season and she was always willing to help refs call penalties during a Redskins - I mean Washington Football Team. . . or, sorry, Commanders game. Her love for football was only rivaled by her love for "watching her shows. " And when we say "her shows," we mean high brow reality series such as The Kardashians or her beloved General Hospital. Peggy was a loving mother to her daughters, Jennifer Usquiano and Stephanie Fortis. She was a doting Nana (or "Wobbuffet") to Genesis Usquiano, who inherited her grandmother's fiery spirit and quick wit. Peggy was a beloved sister to John and Nancy Rogers, and a cherished daughter of the late Margaret Sheila Rogers and John Rogers. Peggy's family was her rock, and she was theirs. Her selfless nature was evident in everything she did, from her endless support of her family to her willingness to lend a helping hand to a friend in need, and always keep "busses rollin'" at work. In the words of the great Robin Williams, "You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it. " Peggy was the embodiment of this quote. Her spirited nature and zest for life were unparalleled, and she had a knack for making the ordinary seem extraordinary. Peggy's life was a testament to the power of love, laughter, and living life to the fullest. She was a beacon of light in a sometimes-dark world, and her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who loved her. As we remember Peggy, let's not dwell on the sadness of her passing, but celebrate the joy she brought into our lives. After all, as Peggy would likely remind us, laughter really is the best medicine. So, here's to Peggy Hurtt, a woman who knew how to celebrate even the smallest of moments. May we all strive to embrace life with the same passionate spirit, and humor that she did. "Go for Peggy. " There was nothing that brought Peggy more joy than being Nana to her granddaughter and it is because of this we ask that in lieu of flowers family and friends consider donating to a GoFundMe that has been created as a trust for GenesisShow more
