, 81, of Swansea, IL, born Friday, November 20, 1942, in Newark, OH, went to her heavenly home Friday, December 1, 2023, following her battle with ALS. She passed away at her residence in Swansea, IL, surrounded by family. Judy was a graduate of Riverside-White Cross School of Nursing, Columbus, OH, and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Health Science from Chapman University, Orange, CA. She worked as a Registered Nurse for 50+ years before retiring. Her passion was service to her family, her church, and to others through volunteer work and nursing. She was a member of St. Matthew Church, Belleville IL, and the New Life Club & Choir, and loved studying God's word. Her involvement and leadership in the church's Parish Nurse Program was invaluable to many. She loved participating in Officers' Wives' Club activities throughout her husband's military career, and was very active in Mary Kay for many years. Judy was heavily involved in her children and grandchildren's activities and lives, and was always present or working behind the scenes. She enjoyed crafting, sewing, quilting, baking and cooking. Judy's "happy place" was traveling with husband, Jim, and walking in the sand at Myrtle Beach. Memorials may be made to St. Matthew Church. Jeannie A. Knopik, age 89, of Swansea, IL, born on March 24, 1934, in Richview, IL, died on Monday, November 20, 2023, at St. Elizbeth's Hospital, O'Fallon, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert R. Knopik; her parents, Emily, nee Winka, and Nick Borowiak; and her siblings, Marty Borowiak, Nick Borowiak, Richard Borowiak, Mariann Jankowki, Andrew Borowiak, and Angela Borowiak. Jeannie is survived by her children, Richard (Ellen) Knopik of Glen Carbon, IL, Teresa (Sam) Randel of St. Jacob, IL, Kathy (Raymond) Dodds of Troy, IL, and JoEllyn (Chris) Guthrie of Spring Hill, FL; her grandchildren, Julie (Amy) Baiser, Jennifer (Mike) Kicielinski, Richard Knopik, Laurie (Aaron) Archibee, Michael Guthrie, Joseph Guthrie and Kyle Guthrie; her great granddaughters, Addison Baiser, Aurora Archibee, and Rosalind Archibee; her great grandsons, Arie Baiser and Cody Kicielinski; her sister, Patricia Groennert of Troy, IL; and her in brother and sisters in-law, Jane Borowiak, Gail (Doyle) Brady, Walter (Marcia) Knopik, and Geraldine O'Hearn. Jimmie "Jim" Lee Skiles, 88, of McClure, Illinois, currently residing in Swansea, Illinois passed away Saturday, October 21, 2023 surrounded by his family. He was born September 12, 1935 in Anna, IL to Everett and Hazel (Smith) Skiles. Jim was a dedicated and committed employee of General Motors for an extraordinary 30 years. He was a true union man who advocated for the well-being and fair treatment of his fellow workers. Jim was an avid pool player and loved socializing with friends. Jim had a passion for country music and dancing with his significant other, Ina. Jim and Ina also would enjoy traveling to many different place throughout the years together. He also enjoyed old westerns, especially gunsmoke, his collection of many hats and tending to his vegetable garden. Jim loved the Lord and was a member of Christ the King Apostolic Church in O'Fallon, Illinois. He had an unwavering commitment to his family and loved spending time with them, especially his children and grandchildren. Jim demonstrated unparalleled strength. His refusal to give up even during the most difficult times, was a testament to his remarkable character. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him. Survivors left to cherish his memory include his loving children, Marilyn (Buddy) Hollis, Kami (Darrell) Welch, Lana (Tony) Rusterberg, Stephen (Deanna) Skiles, and Karen (Kevin) Hooker; brother, Larry "Bo" (Tina) Skiles; significant other for 37 years, Ina Jett; grandchildren, Chris (Kelly) Hollis, Candance Welch, Dustin (Laura) Gross, Shellie (Brian) Welch, Kimberly (Aaron) Wright, Melanie Hollis, Brittany (Derek) Zinck, Corey (Alyssa) Skiles, Seth Skiles; step-grandchildren, Ryan (Katie) Rusterberg, Jessica (Paris) Rusterberg, Emily Rusterberg; great-grandchildren, Gabriella Hollis, Zachary Wright, Layton Hollis, Ana Hollis, Zaylie Wright, Greyson Zinck, Hannah Gross, Paisley Gross, Brian Hale III, step-great-grandchildren, Carter Johnson, Ellie Wade and Eli Wade; dear cousin, Burnell (Judy) Smith.
