"Funeral services for Lena Barrera, 74 of Giddings, Texas, are scheduled for 10:00 a. m. on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at St. Margaret Catholic Church in Giddings with Father Miguel Duarte officiating. Burial will follow in the Giddings City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 from 8:00 a. m. until 8:00 p. m. and on Thursday, September 14, 2023 from 7:00 a. m. until 9:00 a. m. at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. The family will be present for visitation Wednesday evening from 5:00 p. m. until 8:00 p. m. with a Rosary being recited Wednesday evening at 6:00 p. m. at the funeral home. Lena Ann (Muniz) Barrera was born on December 31, 1948 in Giddings, Texas, the daughter of Matilde and Rosa (Esparza) Muniz. She married Fidencio "Lanch" Barrera on August 18, 1968 at St. Margaret Catholic Church in Giddings. She was a hard worker her entire life having worked at B \u0026amp; W Grocery, Walmart and the Giddings Elementary School, where she was a cook. She was a devoted Catholic and a lifelong member of St. Margaret Catholic Church in Giddings. In addition to being an active member of her church, she volunteered countless hours with Rejuvenation in Giddings. Lena fought a fierce battle against cancer since 2007. It was during this time that she became a huge supporter of the Lee County Cancer Resource Center, of which she had served as one of the annual calendar models, and the Lee County Relay for Life. Throughout her life, and especially during her long and hard-fought battle with cancer, she never wavered from her faith but rather clung to it for her strength. She enjoyed antiquing and taking care of her animals, Fluffy and Sesame. Lena passed away the evening of Friday, September 8, 2023, surrounded by her family, at Oakland Manor Nursing Center in Giddings. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Theodore Muniz, Genaro Muniz \u0026amp; his wife, Eva, and Howard Muniz; five sisters, Lupe Redkey \u0026amp; her husband, Malcolm, Josie Kuntz \u0026amp; her husband, Fred, Marie Muniz \u0026amp; her husband, Maurilo, Kay Chew \u0026amp; her husband, Alfred and Lorene Holman, and one brother-in-law, Fred Silgero. Lena is survived by her brother, Louis Muniz Sr. \u0026amp; his wife, Andrea of Giddings; three sisters, Gloria Guajardo \u0026amp; her husband, Ben of Georgetown, Frances Silgero of Magnolia, and Hope Holman \u0026amp; her husband, Clyde of Amarillo; two sisters-in-law, Teresa Muniz of Giddings and Rosie Muniz of La Grange; one brother-in-law, Norman Holman of Giddings as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jade Taylor Marie Youngblood was born July 17, 1996 in Houston, Texas. She was the daughter of Bernice Brook Johnson and Joshua Youngblood. Her life, though short on this earth, impacted many people. Her infectious smile and unforgettable personality always brought light to every place she entered. Jade grew up in Houston, Texas and graduated from Benjamin O. Davis High School in the Class of 2015. Her love for animals led her to participate in the FFA. She received awards in 2014 and 2015, also winning the Livestock Championship. If you knew Jade, you knew she rescued many animals and cared for them in a very special way. Jade loved music and would often be found singing. Her creativity was like non other. She had an awesome kind of fashion. Her beauty was natural, along with a touch of her own unique design. There was only one Jade Youngblood and she could never be duplicated. She will be missed by everyone that came into her presence. Theresa Marie Bledsoe was born on February 18, 1941, in Houston, Texas. Her parents were the late Josephine (Callahan) Bledsoe and Shannon James Bledsoe, Jr. Also, born in that Union is her brother Albert. At a very young age, the Bledsoe family moved to Corpus Christi, Texas where Theresa and her brother Albert Bledsoe were raised. She graduated from Incarnate Word Academy. She continued her studies at Delmar College and later also graduated from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. Theresa worked at Spohn Hospital as a laboratory technician until she relocated to Houston, Texas in 1971. She worked as a chemist for Arco Chemical and later Dow Chemical where she retired. Her work life spanned over 40 years. She was a very intelligent, smart, loving, and was an amazing daughter, sister, mother, wife, grandmother, and great grandmother. Theresa met Charles Rice and married him in Corpus Christi, Texas. This union was blessed with three adorable children. Later, the family would relocate to Channelview, Texas. Charles Rice preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her second husband, Earl Greathouse. Theresa resided in Somerville, Burleson County, Texas for many years. She later united in matrimony with Artie Norman, Jr. Her Christian life led her to worship at The Fellowship Of Purpose Church and Northeast Church of Christ. She accepted Christ at a young age, was a strong, believer, and a faithful servant. Irene enjoyed drawing, handmaking cards, making hair barrettes, going on walks, watching sports, listening to Paul McCartney, going out, doing word searches, watching true crime documentaries, and loved everything that was the color purple. Irene was the unofficial seamstress of the family. She was the true matriarch of her family and made taking care of her family her top priority. Irene passed away unexpectedly the morning of Monday, November 13, 2023 in Giddings. She is preceded in death by her parents, Alberado Sr. and Guadalupe Rocha; one brother, Alberado Rocha Jr. ; one sister, Josephine Rodriguez, and one niece, Lori Ann Rocha. Lorine Emma (Meschke) Richardson was born on August 18, 1944, in Bastrop County, Texas to Paul and Emma (Fick) Meschke. She was baptized on October 1, 1944, in Paige, Texas and lived on the family farm in Paint Creek until they moved to Giddings. Lorine graduated from Giddings High School in 1962. While working as a waitress, she met her future husband Earl Richardson who worked for the railroad. They were married at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Giddings in January of 1964. Their union was blessed with two children, Rebecca and Mark. Lorine was also blessed with one granddaughter and two great grandsons. She worked for Giddings Elementary School for 17 years until her retirement. Her hobbies were collecting recipes, doing word search books and embroidery. She loved spending time with her family and furbabies Macey and Bentley. Lorine passed away on Monday, November 6, 2023 at Giddings Residence and Rehabilitation Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Emma Meschke, her husband, Earl Richardson; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Eugene (Willie) Tschatschula, Royce (Dorothy) Tschatschula; her sister, Elnora Everts; two half-brothers, Anton and Ewald Meschke; her son-in-law, Martin Nunes, and her daughter-in-law, Carol Richardson. He grew up in the Giddings - Manheim area, and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Giddings, Texas. He attended Giddings High School and graduated in 1954. He joined the Army National Guard in 1954 and served his country honorably until 1959. He was baptized on April 7, 1935 at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Manheim, Texas and confirmed on April 10, 1949 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings, Texas. His confirmation verse was 2 Samuel 22 and 31 "As for God, His way is perfect; the Word of the Lord is tried, He is a buckler to all them that trust in Him. " Leroy married Madeline Zoch at St Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin, Texas on October 19, 1958. Leroy and Madeline were blessed to celebrate 65 years of marriage with their family and friends on October 22, 2023. Leroy was a strong and faithful servant of the Lord. He instilled his faith and love of the Lord into his 3 sons and family. Leroy loved his family, going hunting, growing vegetables, selling bait, playing 42 dominoes, but above all going fishing. Jesse Lee Green was born into this world on May 14, 1992 in La Grange, Texas to Hugh Green and Cheryl (Timmes) Stanley. He graduated from Kenedy High School in 2000. Jesse worked as a truck driver most of his life, currently being employed by Bobby Lehmann Trucking in Giddings. He was a huge Spurs fan and was a season ticket holder for several years. He also enjoyed bowling and spending time in downtown San Antonio. Jesse attended worship at the Impact Worship Center in Bastrop and loved listening to worship music and praising the Lord at every opportunity. He loved with his whole heart and he did his best to be a good person who loved others. In the last year of his life, Jesse gained a deeper relationship with God and loved Him with all of his might. Jesse passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 in Giddings. Hales Moving until they went out of business. He enjoyed playing his many guitars, practicing music of all genres, and taking care of his dogs. Jarrod enjoyed riding his custom bike and spending time with family and friends. Jarrod passed away the early morning of Monday, October 23, 2023 at his home in Giddings. He is preceded in death by his father, Jerry Arnold Steglich, and one brother, Terry Steglich. Jerry Wayne Hosch was born to Clarence Weldon Hosch and Flora Mae (Fentriss) Hosch in Galena Park, Texas on August 14, 1947 and he passed away at 11:48 am the morning of Monday, October 16, 2023 at Oakland Manor Nursing Home in Giddings surrounded by love and care. Jerry was a longtime welder by trade while he also worked as a security guard at the Giddings State School. He was an armed guard for Ranger in Austin up until August 18, 2023, the day he went into the hospital. He loved his job, working, watching sports, and playing and writing music. Jerry is preceded in death by both of his parents, C. W. Hosch and Flora Mae Hosch; his brother, Donald L. Hosch and his wife, Erinistine, and his brother-in-law, Troy Lee Pittman. "Angie M. Prihoda, age 89 of Giddings, passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2023 at her home in Giddings, Texas. Angeline Mary (Canik) Prihoda was born on January 4, 1934 in Industry, Texas, the daughter of August Canik and Mary (Supak) Canik. Angie was united in marriage to LeRoy Robert Prihoda on August 3, 1952 at Sts. Peter \u0026amp; Paul Catholic Church in Frelsburg, Texas. Angie \u0026amp; LeRoy were married for 53 years when LeRoy passed on January 28, 2005. Angie and LeRoy bought Giddings Lumber and Hardware in 1970 and operated it for many years. Angie stayed active through the years as a member of the St. Margaret's Catholic Church and Altar Society, a Special Minister and CCD instructor for the Church. She was also a member of the Giddings Sons of Hermann, American Legion Auxiliary #297, the Red Hats Society and the Giddings Garden Club. Angie also helped with Meals on Wheels, Relay for Life, the Giddings Rejuvenation Store and assembling Braille books. She also enjoyed gardening, hunting, traveling, playing Solitaire and spending time at the Senior Citizen Center playing Mexican Train and various card games with her friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, August and Mary Canik; husband, LeRoy Prihoda; daughter, Janie Myers; son-in-law, Scott Cheney; brother, August Canik Jr. ; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Henry \u0026amp; Lena Prihoda; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Joe \u0026amp; Mary Lee Prihoda; and brothers-in-law, Clarence Prihoda and Daniel Prihoda and numerous nieces and nephews. "Nell Rose Doelitsch, 93, of Rockdale, passed away on Friday, October 6, 2023 in Giddings. Services will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at Phillips \u0026amp; Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. Officiating will be Pastor Tim Stephens. Burial will follow in I. O. O. F. Cemetery. A visitation will begin at 9:00 am on Wednesday at the funeral home. Nell was born on March 21, 1930 to Clifford Bassie and Exa Virginia (Jordan) Seals in Dallas. At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and was baptized into the Christian Faith. She graduated from Austin High School. On April 3, 1948, she and George Doelitsch were united in marriage in Austin. They celebrated 68 years of marriage. Before retirement, she worked as a teller and opened new accounts for Rockdale State Bank now Citizens National Bank. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Virginia Seals; husband, George Doelitsch; brother, Clifford Seals, Jr. and his wife Helen; daughter-in-law, Vickie Doelitsch; grandson, Dusty Joe Doelitsch; and nephew, Carey Seals. Nell is survived by her sons, Rick Doelitsch and wife Bettie of Rockdale, David Doelitsch and wife Rola of Brenham, and Jimmy Doelitsch of Edna; grandchildren, Aaron Doelitsch and wife Jennifer of Spring, Nathan Doelitsch and wife Marci of Milano, Georgann Smith and husband James of Burton, Bobby Doelitsch and wife Jessica of Edna, David Doelitsch, Jr. and wife Sarah of Brenham, Amy Doelitsch of Edna, and Christy Doelitsch White of Rockdale; 21 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers will be grandchildren, Aaron Doelitsch, Nathan Doelitsch, David Doelitsch, Jr. , Bobby Doelitsch, Georgann Deolitsch, Amy Doelitsch, and Christy Doelitsch White.
