Barbara was born on January 5th, 1936 in Ponca City, Oklahoma to Dean and Luella Braucher. At the age of four her family moved to Redding, California where she grew up. Barbara was baptized on February 16, 1936 at First Lutheran Church, Ponca City, Oklahoma. She was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, Redding California in 1950. Barbara married Walter A. Nelson on May 16, 1968 at Trinity Lutheran Church in MT. Vernon where they were members for twenty years. Barbara sang in the choir and Walter was an elder. The two of them were married 51 years when Walter passed away in October of 2019. Barbara was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Marysville for the past twenty-four years. We are saddened to announce her passing on 2/8/2024 which was unexpected at age 88 years old. Barbara lived life for Jesus, Church, family and is survived by one brother Dean Braucher; three sons Mitchell Nelson, Brad Waddell and Christopher Nelson; two daughter-in-laws Karen Nelson and Sandra Nelson; ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and five nieces. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday February 17th at 11am. Emily Newman, age 100 years young, passed away peacefully in her home in Marysville, Washington on January 23, 2024. Emily was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1924, first born to Stephan and Treasa Simik. Emily was the loving mother to Linda (Brian) McIlrath, Donnarae (Tony) Ellena, Cheryl (James) Freeman, and Melanie (Gary) Clark. She is fondly remembered by her 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Emily is preceded I death by her husband Stanley R. Newman Jr. Emily grew up in Chicago and was the first US citizen in her family. She lived through the Great Depression and World War II. It was during World War II that she had worked for Western Electric. After the war, she started a new career at Sears and Roebuck. She met Stanley Roman Nowicki (changed to Newman in 1949) Jr. in 1945, and they got married in September of 1946. Emily managed her new life with Rome, parenthood, and continued working at Sears and Roebuck Catalogue Division for forty years. Emily and family moved to California in the 1967, taking a cross-country family road trip on Route 66 to get there. Emily and Rome bought their “red barn” home on Vanderhill Road in Torrence and began their new adventures in Southern California. Emily retired from Sears in 1986, and worked for the Torrence police department as a school crossing guard until she was 82 years old. “Her Buddy” Rome passed away in 2004. Two years later, Emily started a new adventure in Marysville, Washington, where she enjoyed a joyful retirement with family, friends, and neighbors. Emily loved cooking, baking, quilting, and gardening. She loved her family and her friends, both old and new. This woman was loved by so many over her nearly 100 years and will be remembered for many hundreds of years to come and be known as “Babi”. Thank you for 100 years of loving us all!

Carol Garman was born on December 30th,1957, and passed away peacefully in her sleep on 2/2/24 at Mountain View Rehabilitation and Care in Marysville after an almost 6-month struggle with kidney failure and stroke. She was born to Norman Rammage and Dale Rammage (Adams) in Seattle, WA. She met her soul mate, Michael Garman, at Skagit Speedway in 1989. They had one daughter, Hydee, in 1990 and got married in 1991. He passed in 2005. She was a homemaker and took care of their daughter. She had a love for crocheting blankets for those she loved, loved dirt track racing, and photography. She adopted in her heart many children and loved them as her own. She is preceded in death by her husband Michael, father Norman, brother Larry, and countless other family members who went before her. She is survived by her daughter Hydee (Jason), her granddaughter Taelyn, and countless other amazing people who called her mom, sister Kathy, sister Mary, her mom Dale, and stepmom Shirley. Karl William Hinkle

Karl William Hinkle of Marysville, Washington passed away on January 14, 2024 at the age of 60. He was born on July 19, 1963 in White Sand Missile Range, New Mexico. Karl Hinkle was born to Orville and Elisabeth on July 19, 1963, in White Sand Missile Range, New Mexico. He graduated from Mayfield high school in 1981. After graduation he served in the US Navy and was stationed in San Diego. After returning home, he got together with Jo Ann (Brownewell) Hinkle in 1983. They had their first daughter, Michelle, in 1985. Karl went to school in 1985 and became a certified Electronic Technician. Karl married Jo Ann on August 24, 1986. In 1987, they welcomed their second daughter, Lisa. Karl had a love for Harley Davidson motorcycles and owned a Sportster. Karl often went on rides like the Aspencade in New Mexico and Toys for Tots runs in El Paso, Texas with his wife and friends. In 1992, Karl and Jo Ann moved their family to Shoreline, Washington for better job opportunities. Karl started off as a Janitorial Manager, then went to school in 1996 to get his Associates degree in mechanics, where he specialized in transmissions. Also in 1996, Karl and Jo Ann purchased their first and only house in Marysville, Washington. Five months later, they welcomed their third daughter, Jessica. In December of 2004, they welcomed their first son, and final child, Joshua. In 2007, Karl started working for Boeing, where he stayed until his medical retirement in 2023. Karl loved what he did. Throughout the years, Karl's daughters blessed him with 6 grandchildren, whom he loved deeply. Karl enjoyed fishing, golfing, computer games, BBQing, and getting the family all together. Every year, a few of his friends, Son in laws, son, oldest grandsons and him went on an annual fishing trip to Eastern Washington. Summer time was Karl's favorite because he got to BBQ more, he also became a pro at using his smoker. His favorite days were when he had all the family over for get togethers so he could feed them, and enjoy some games and a fire in his backyard. On October 27, 2022, Karl got diagnosed with stage four Glioblastoma Multiforme. Despite the poor prognosis, he never gave up his will or hope to fight. He endured 2 brain surgeries, Chemotherapy, radiation, 2 clinical trials, and many doctor appointments and yet he never became discouraged and always kept his sense of humor. Throughout his cancer journey, Karl was always so appreciative and grateful for the words of encouragement, love and support so many people reached out and gave him. He was the best husband, father, brother, papa, uncle, and friend. He will forever be loved, cherished, and missed beyond words. Karl is preceded in death by his son, Joshua, and his parents, Elisabeth and Orville. He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann. Daughters, Michelle, Lisa, and Jessica. His sister, Vera. Brother in law, Barry. His niece, Morgan. his daughter and sons in law, Lydia, Manny and Zach, and his grandchildren, Mya, Aiden, Mason, Zander, Maddex, and Raelynn. A memorial service for Karl will be held at Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home on Friday, February 9th, at 3:00 PM
