Margaret King
Age - 71
December 10, 2023
Margaret Jean King has moved to heaven to be reunited with the love of her life, Charles Dudley King (1949 - 2006). She passed away on November 26, 2023 (17 years plus 1 day after her husband's passing). At her homecoming, she was greeted by the All Father, Charles (husband), Marion Allen White (father), Olive Bell King (mother-in-law), CL King (father-in-law), Gladys Ethel O'Barr (aunt-in-law), Jean McGaha (aunt), Marguerite Tims (grandmother), James McGaha (grandfather), Evelyn Tims (great-aunt), Gertrude Tims (great-aunt), and John (Johan) Hawes (family friend). Margaret was born June 25, 1952 in Fort Worth, Texas to Mary Alice White (mother) and Marion Allen White (father). She has two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Thompson and Maryon Sue Wilkins, and she has one brother, Mark Allen White. She is survived by her children, Candace Leigh King and Charles Mackenzie King, and by her granddaughter, Margaret Arya King Baty. Margaret spent part of her early childhood in Mansfield, Texas and part of her childhood in Corpus Christi, Texas. She graduated from Ray High School in Corpus Christi in 1970. In her youth, Margaret enjoyed tennis, basketball, swimming, surfing, fishing, and sailing. Margaret studied art at Del Mar College in Corpus Christi. She held three part-time jobs while in school, and she modeled for art classes. Margaret was a bold woman. In her youth, Margaret was a member of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls. One of her favorite Rainbow events was volunteering at the Shriner's Circus. On one particular occasion at the circus, Margaret played a prank on her friend, Walter, that backfired. She snuck up behind Walter, wrapped her arms around his waist and jokingly said, "You are so dreamy. Will you marry me?" However, it was not Walter whom she hugged and proposed to. It was Charles King. Charlie said, "Hmm. . . I'll have to think about it. Let me turn around and take a look at you. " They began dating shortly after, then they married on March 25, 1972. Margaret was a quirky woman. As an adult, Margaret enjoyed collecting rocks, minerals, and fossils. She enjoyed collecting books, and she was an avid reader (mostly romance novels). She also had a passion for B type Horror Movies, such as Sharknado (true story). Margaret loved flowers and pretty gardens. Sadly, she was not blessed with a green thumb. Margaret periodically did wildly bizarre things that countered logic, such as a washing a digital clock in the dishwasher because the clock was labelled as being solid state. She was known to drive by braille, meaning that she rarely stayed in her lane and was prone to driving over reflectors, pavement scoring, and curbs. Margaret was a strong woman. Life is full of challenges, but how you face those challenges notes the quality of person that you are. She faced challenges head on like a warrior. She never let anything take her down. She always got back on her feet and continued to march forward. When times got tough, she worked even harder. She made many sacrifices to provide for her family. Her love, her sense of humor, her resilience, and her determination are deeply appreciated and will be sincerely missed. Margaret, we love you, we miss you, and we wish you the best on the other side. We will see you again.
