Mr. Bennie “Ben” Bell, 91, of Las Cruces, NM, entered into eternal rest at his home on January 22, 2024.Born on August 14, 1932 in New Orleans, LA, Ben’s early childhood was lived in Louisiana, later moving to Michigan. Upon graduating from high school, he answered the call of duty serving honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. His commitment to service continued, staying active with the Las Cruces VFW Post 6917, and as chaplain of the DAV Chapter #38. He had a passion for fishing and viewing classic western films. His enthusiasm for college football was evident, cheering for Notre Dame, Michigan, and Oregon. Ben enjoyed the excitement of the rivalry between Army-Navy. He enjoyed tinkering in his garage working on various projects and formed a special bond with Naomi, his adopted dog, cherishing their time together. Ben had a great sense of humor and enjoyed sharing many stories. His many jobs eventually brought him to Albuquerque and finally retiring in Las Cruces.Ben is survived by his sister C. Yvonne Bell Thomas (Bob); his adopted son Robert Bell, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Preceding him in death were his parents Clifford and Orenea; his siblings Joyce, Louise, Madeliene, Celeste, Marcus, Clifford, Burton; and adopted son Joseph. He also was blessed with an expanded family that enriched his life with love and care.We extend our deepest gratitude to Ben’s neighbors, devoted caretakers from Comfort Keepers (especially Kaylonni), Matrix staff, his physicians, and the dedicated VA staff who kept telling him to slow down but he kept going and never gave up.A memorial service will be held to honor Ben at St. Genevieve Church,100 S. Espina St., Las Cruces, New Mexico, on Saturday, March 23, at 1:00 pm.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter #38, P.O. Box 13011, Las Cruces, NM, 88013 in memory of Mr. Bennie Bell.Ben was a loving individual who will be dearly missed by all who knew him. In the late hours of February 20, 2024, our beloved father completed his journey in this life and passed over to eternal rest. Silas Edward Garcia was born on December 16, 1959, and raised in Las Cruces. Our family called him by the name Eddie. Silas Edward Garcia is survived by his parents Silas Escobedo and Genevieve Rodriguez Garcia; his children, Silas Andrew “Andy” Garcia and wife April Estrada, Deborah Michelle Padilla and husband Jose; his grandchildren Daijah Padilla, Delilah Padilla, Jasmin Strain, Joelyssa Marquez, Michael Marquez, and Memorie Silva; his great grandchildren, Ezra, Zion, Elizah, and Iverley; his sisters Laura Garcia, Felicia Manzanares and husband Carlos; his brother Samual Garcia and husband Barry Klein; and many others who lovingly called him uncle, cousin, nephew, and friend.Eddie was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Simon Trujillo and Juana Escobedo Garcia, maternal grandparents Bentura DeLaO and Inez Miranda Rodriguez and grandparents Andres and Josefita Trujillo Garcia.Eddie was a graduate of Las Cruces High School. He worked for Bimbo (Rainbow) Bakery in El Paso and Silver City for many years, later working for and retiring from the City of Las Cruces where he served as a Gas Meter Mechanic in the Utilities department. In addition to his full-time work with the city, he served as a bartender at Palacio Bar in Mesilla. He loved spending his time with family and friends and cherished the relationships he built over the years. He was an avid fisherman and loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hosting gatherings where he would cook for and visit with family and friends. While we will miss him dearly, we will move forward celebrating his life and the beautiful memories he left behind.Funeral Services will be held at Our Lady of Health Catholic Church on Thursday February 29, 2024. Visitations will begin at 09:00 am and the Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am. Serving as casket bearers are Andy Garcia, Scott Bernal, Mikey Bernal, Fred Martinez, Jose Padilla, and Michael Marquez. Honorary casket bearers are Freddy Martinez, Isaac Martinez, Scotty Bernal III, David Jaurigue, Dominic Jaurigue, Derek Lujan, and Chance Umphress. A Fellowship gathering will take place at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Hall immediately following the services. Our beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew and dear friend, JOSE “JOEY” ANTONIO JUAREZ III, age 29, of Las Cruces entered eternal life on Thursday February 15, 2024. “Joey” as he was fondly known to family and friends was born November 26, 1994, in Las Cruces to Ruth Salas-Juarez and Jose Antonio Juarez Jr. His love for music, movies, and contagious laugh will be the loving memories that we will always cherish. Joey was a sports fan, his favorite teams, the San Antonio Spurs, Chicago Cubs, and especially the Pittsburgh Steelers, just like his father. Those left to mourn his passing include his loving mother, Ruth Juarez; two sisters, Alyssa and Erica Juarez all of Las Cruces; his maternal grandparents, Petra and Felix Salas; maternal aunts and uncles, Lydia and Maria Salas; Gracie Sepulveda (Steve) and Ramiro Salas; paternal aunts and uncles, Yolanda “Yoli” Juarez; Frank Juarez (Marcy); Sandy Ramos (Lalo) and Matthew Juarez; as well as numerous cousins. Joey was preceded in death by his father, Jose Antonio Juarez Jr. on May 4, 2015; paternal grandparents, Jose “Pepe” and Margrita Juarez; paternal great-grandparents, Antonio, and Genoveva Juarez; maternal great-grandparents, Augustina, and Miguel Rosales; cousin, Anthony Kane Juarez. She now has a perfect body with no aches or pains. Niney came into this world with a bang. She was born on July 4, 1949, and she always said, “all our country celebrates my birthday every year with fireworks.”She was a devout believer as she surrendered her life to God and was baptized as a young teenager. Niney loved the Lord with all her being and shared the Gospel with everyone who crossed her path. Through all her suffering for many years, she always had a good word to share and a thankful heart. Her devotion and gratefulness were captivating and humbling and in the midst of her physical pain, she ministered and prayed for others to come to know the Lord.Niney is survived by her husband of 29 years, David Arballo, her 3 stepchildren, Michelle (Daniel) Hopper, David Arballo, and Rebecca Arballo, 9 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren, 3 brothers, Manuel Jimenez, Ben Jimenez, Abel (Angel) Jimenez, 3 sisters, Martha (Ernie) Tafoya, Ernestina “India” (Oscar) Matancillas, Loida (Martin) Vasquez, sister-in-law Mary Jane Jimenez and many nephews and nieces.Niney was preceded in death by her parents, Mateo and Aurora Jimenez, brother Jose Jimenez, sister Paula Garay, and sisters-in-law Margaret Jimenez and Carolina Jimenez.A visitation for Niney will be held at 12pm on February 29, 2024, at Family Worship and Praise Center (The First Apostolic Church), 1205 Ridgetop. Fue el séptimo de nueve hermanos: Celestina (+), Oscar, Jesús (Chombe+), Oralia, Belia (Prieta), Velia (Guera), Socorro, Jesús (Chuyin+). A la edad de 17 años se casó con María Jesús Galindo Domínguez. Sus hijos Carlos (+) y Rodrigo (+), Eira Olivas (Ernesto), Liliana Reyes (Carlos), Mariela Coe (Mark), Melissa Castillo (Brian), Carla Tavares, Ivan Lopez, y Jennifer Vasquez.
