"Leander J. Roberts Jr. , age 77 was born on August 21, 1946 in New Orleans, LA. Leander left with the angels on August 29, 2023. Preceded in death, his parents Leander O. Roberts Sr. and mother Jeanne Alcorn. Leander leaves behind his beloved wife (Mary Alice Roberts); two daughters-Michelle Turner (Keytree) and Fallon Roberts. Four sons-Leander III (Missie), Faullon Roberts, Anthony Donseroaux and Theron (Karrie) Harris. Brother of four sisters-Michele Roberts, Andra Roberts, Robi Givens and the late Jeanne Payne Robinson and Sonya Brown. And three brothers-Leander G. ; Darryl (Monica) Roberts and the late Charles Roberts. He was lovingly called \u0026quot;Papa\u0026quot; by 8 grandchildren and cherished two great grandchildren. Also a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Leander had many interests and things he enjoyed with family and friends. Most know him as \u0026quot;Bubbie\u0026quot; with a charismatic personality. He loved telling jokes with every story and made everyone in his presence feel welcomed. He was well versed in his crafts-from drawing portraits, advanced in mechanics, and even mastered the art of Karate where he achieved a Black belt. He faced every challenge head on and there was no obstacle too great. Leander is a graduate of Booker T. Washington HS and attended Refrigeration school (1989), where he obtained HVAC certification. Past work history includes working at a toy factory, then D. H Holmes for some years, all while doing mechanic work on the side. Leander also worked at UNO for several years, where he retired as an HVAC Supervisor. Was always Industrious, willing to teach anyone who wanted to learn and was everyone\u0027s go-to person for advice and of course, car trouble. Royal Phoenix, Sr. , age 84, entered peacefully into eternal rest at his residence on Tuesday, November 21, 2023. He was a native and resident of New Orleans, LA. Royal was a graduate of L. B. Landry High School. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and the U. S. Army. Royal was a retired police officer of NAS JRB New Orleans and Kalvar, and a former reserve officer with NOPD and Gretna Police Department. He was an active member of Second Baptist Church, where he was a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Photographer/Videographer, and Sunday Morning Prayer Service Leader. Loving husband of Lydia Gant Phoenix. Nathaniel "Big Nate" Collins, Sr. entered into eternal rest at Ochsner Medical Center Main Campus on Sunday, November 19, 2023, at the age of 66. He was a native of Centerville, MS and a resident of New Orleans, LA. As a lifelong sports enthusiast, Nathaniel enjoyed watching and participating in football, track, and baseball. He was a 1975 graduate of Central High School in Liberty, MS, and continued his studies at Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, LA on a football scholarship. In 1979, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Education. Nathaniel was employed for many years offshore before he began working for the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office, from which he retired after 31 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, and attending family reunions. Beloved husband of 41 years to the late Sandra Elaine Hughes Collins. Loving father of Kenneth Collins and the late Nathaniel Collins, Jr. Son of the late Henry Collins, Jr. and Rutha Mae Johnson Collins. Brother of Thelma Turnbull, McClain (Sally), Herbert, Carl, and Calvert (Dr. Sharon Mitchell) Collins, and the late Clifford, Earl, and Will Collins. Son-in-law of the late Joseph, Sr. and Ruth Ella Anderson Hughes. Patricia E. Blanchard passed away on Thanksgiving Day, November 23, 2023, while with family in Gretna, Louisiana. She was born on November 29, 1933, in Kansas City, MO to Walter and Celia Exendine. Pat was raised in Dallas, Texas. She met Gilbert Blanchard, her husband of 67 years, soon after moving to New Orleans, LA. ; for Pat it was love at first sight. They married and then raised their four children in a suburb of New Orleans. She worked as an Executive Assistant at Continental Can Company for ten years before moving on to help run Blanchard Construction Company for over 30 years. Pat also worked for the New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau where she introduced many to the city she called home. She loved the unique culture of New Orleans along with its music, celebrations, and its rich history. After growing up as an only child, Pat was thrilled to be a mother of four children. She was dedicated to all her children’s many interests and activities. At home, Pat was an exceptional cook and loved to entertain. She welcomed many who didn’t have family in town to join in meals and celebrations at the Blanchard home. Pat was a devoted neighbor and friend and was considered as a second mom by several of her children’s friends. Pat came to faith in Christ as an adult and yearned to learn as much as she could about her newfound faith. She taught children’s Sunday school at Kenner Baptist Church, opened her home to host Young Life for many years, and she felt strongly about supporting missions that helped lead others to Christ. Johnson City, TN became home to Pat and her husband after retiring there in 1996. During her 26 years in Johnson City, she enjoyed time with her family and especially the time spent helping with her two grandsons with special needs. Along with her husband, Thomas and Stewart were the loves of her life. Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Blanchard, and her daughter, Carol Haines (Tom). She is survived by her son Gil Blanchard, Jr. (Julie) of Gretna, LA; daughter Cecile Huddleston (Tom) of Johnson City, TN; daughter Teresa Blanchard of Ashburn, VA; five grandchildren who affectionately called her Pat Pat, and two great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, it was Pat’s wish that donations be sent to Brother’s Keeper, a nonprofit program for adults with special needs, in honor of her two grandsons and the many other adults with special needs in their community. Tabitha also held at Bachelor of Business Administration in Hospitality from the University of New Orleans. She was a committed employee of Marriott Properties for over 25 years with her last role being in Senior Leadership at the W New Orleans Hotel. Tabitha operated in excellence in everything she did. Tabitha's hard work and commitment allowed her to make progressive promotions throughout her career. She even received the Employee of the Year award from Marriott in 2022. Tabitha was a humble and sweet spirit who cherished her friends and family. She loved God, her church family and fellowshipping with family and friends. She also loved to travel and see new places in the world.
