He spent the first four years of his life growing up on a farm south of Early; where he earned the title "bubble-wrap boy" due to his active nature, resulting in countless bumps, bruises, and to his parent's dismay, ER visits for stitches. His family then moved to the family farm East of Storm Lake, where he learned the ropes of the farm and honed his basketball talents in the gravel driveway. He attended St. Mary's School in Storm Lake and graduated in 2007 as one of the Mighty 10. Devin received a basketball scholarship, and attended Morningside College in Sioux City; where he received a business degree in 2011. In 2014, he married his true love Bailey Dettmann of Rockwell City; after she had caught his eye at a basketball game. They were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Darby (5) and Perri (3). Devin's family was his heart, and he adored his three girls. His favorite pastimes included spending time with them and working to build their dream acreage outside of Jolley. He was also the Iowa State Cyclones #1 fan; as well as a Timberwolves and Brock Purdy 49'ers fan. Family gatherings were a top priority for him, and his hobbies included golfing with his brothers, cousins, or buddies; helping with the family Clydesdales, farming, and boating any chance he got. He was always willing to help anyone with anything, always had a smile on his face, and had an infectious laugh that could be heard from anywhere.
