Larry Milton was born November 4, 1952 in Edgewood, Texas to Otha and Viola Milton. He became a member of Bethlehem Baptist church at an early age. As he grew up, Larry became a scholar and an athlete. He attended Edgewood High School and not only played football and basketball but was a star in it if you let him tell it. He also achieved state recognition in discus. Not to be outdone by sports, Larry graduated valedictorian of the class in 1971. He continued sports with basketball in college by accepting a scholarship to East Texas State University. After a year, he switched schools to play basketball at Midwestern University, where he later also received his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. Larry's pursuits continued at the University of Saint Thomas and completed a Master's Degree in International Business. In between getting degrees, Larry met and fell in love with Jan Marshall and on November 28, 1981, they got married. In this union two daughters and one son were born. Larry worked as an accountant and gained a CPA- Certified Public Accountant license and standing. He was employed by the State of Texas as an auditor, Fluor Corporation as a project accountant, and other corporations in accounting. Larry became an international traveler for work and lived in Saudi Arabia where he learned how to speak some Arabic. With his knowledge gained from working for others, in 1986 Larry created Milton & Associates Inc. and became the Owner and Managing Principal. Alongside owning his own business for several decades, Larry became a member of the First Baptist Church of Hamilton Park and later One Community Church. He also volunteered in the community. Larry was preceded in death by his mother: Viola Milton; father: Otha Milton; brothers: Joe Willie, Jerry, & Lodis Milton; and sister: Elneita Dillard. He is survived by his wife: Jan Milton; children: Shonta Jackson & husband Orenthal, Mia Milton, Michael Milton, and Alexis Davis & husband Andrew; grandchildren: Philip Thomas, Kanye Jackson, Kyrent Jackson, & Summer Davis; great grandchild: Prince Thomas; his brother: Lee Milton; sisters: Linda Randle & husband Joe, Rosie Randle, and Vickie Jones; brother in law: Lonnie Dillard; sister in law: Diane Milton; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Services will be held at the Bethlehem Baptist Church on 9/15/23 at 1 P. M. in Edgewood, TX. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time. Services are under the direction of Hiett's LyBrand Funeral Home.

Jody McPherson, 47, of Edgewood, Texas, passed away on December 6, 2023. He was born on August 10, 1976, in Dallas, Texas. Jody was a loving and selfless individual who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Jody graduated from Edgewood High School in 1994 and went on to attend Southern Arkansas University on a basketball scholarship, graduating in 1999. Jody was a dedicated educator and coach. He began his career in 1999 and worked as a teacher and coach at Terrell ISD and Wills Point ISD until 2006. In 2006, he joined the Mesquite Fire Department, where he served the community with dedication and bravery. Jody was promoted to driver/engineer in 2017. He fulfilled his calling while carrying out his duties as a firefighter/paramedic. He was a respected member of the Edgewood School Board, serving as both Vice President and President for 12 years. Additionally, he served as the Vice President of the Edgewood Athletic Booster Club and was a board member and spokesman for the BKM Foundation. Jody had a passion for coaching and being involved in youth sports, he dedicated his time and efforts to coaching and was a vital member of the Edgewood Youth Basketball Association and Edgewood Baseball/Softball Association. He found joy in coaching not only his own children but also other kids, making a positive impact on their lives. In his free time, Jody enjoyed playing and watching sports, particularly basketball. In his personal life, Jody was surrounded by a loving family and cherished his role as a dad. He is survived by his wife, Brandi, their son Trey, and their daughters Brooklyn and Blair McPherson. He is also survived by his parents, Jerry Eli and Carol McPherson, his brother Clint McPherson, and his father and mother in-law Dwain and Debbie Keltner. Jody had a close relationship with his brother-in-law Sam and his wife Amy Keltner, as well as his nephew Travis McPherson and Kyle Keltner and niece Kennedy Keltner. He leaves behind a host of other family members and friends who loved him dearly. Jody was a member of Stone Point Church, where he found strength and solace. His faith was an important aspect of his life. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2023, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at First Baptist Church in Edgewood. Funeral services will take place on Sunday, December 10, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Edgewood High School Gym. A celebration of life service for Sue Anne Humphries Mullen, 75, of Royse City, formerly of Edgewood, TX, is scheduled for 4:00 PM, Thursday, November 9, 2023, at Hiett's LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point. Friends may pay their respects before the ceremony from 3:00 to 4:00 PM. Sue Anne had a great love for her children and grandchildren and was known as Nana. She passed away November 5 after battling some health issues for the past several years. She was born on December 31, 1947, in Jackson, Mississippi. Her journey through life took her to some amazing places and she achieved amazing things. She had a deep love for the southern states of Mississippi, Louisiana, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee. . . she graduated from high school in 1965 and attended Auburn University before transferring to Louisiana State University. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta national sorority. She loved sports and was fiercely competitive, especially when it came to her kids and grandkids. She was the Georgia State High School typing champion, and she had a career as one of the best legal secretaries her bosses had ever had the pleasure of working with. She loved crafts. She was an amazing cook and she could tell you the name of just about any green plant in the region. Sue Anne was a volunteer, Sunday school teacher, ran her own in-home daycare, active in her churches, and loved Mississippi family reunions. She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert C. Humphries and Sue Martin Humphries. She is survived by her ex-husband Don Mullen of Royse City, daughter Amy Mullen of Rockwall, son Scott and daughter-in-law Kelsey of Rockwall, and son Steve and daughter-in-law Natalie of Baton Rouge, LA, as well as grandchildren Amelia, Mallory, Nolen, and Tyler. Also survived by brother Tim Humphries and wife Kathy, brother Mark Humphries and wife Janey, and brother Tom Humphries and wife Erma as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Although in later life, Sue was distanced from her family, she was a fantastic mom, sister, cousin, wife and will be missed dearly. Funeral services for Roger Leland Smith, 76, of Greenville, TX, formerly of Edgewood, TX, are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 14, 2023, at Hiett's Lybrand Funeral Home in Wills Point. Roger passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2023, in Greenville, TX. Born on October 12, 1946, in Salina, KS, Roger Leland Smith was the son of Leland Ben Smith and Verna Elizabeth Linebarger Smith. He spent his formative years in Kansas and graduated from high school there. Roger proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. In his early years, Roger married and was blessed with two sons, Michael and Rodney. Later in life, he married Mable Miller, and together they settled in Edgewood, TX, while raising her two children, Kerry and Darla. Roger dedicated his working years to Carrier Air Conditioner as a plant operator, eventually retiring from his professional career. He held strong to the Baptist faith. Roger was a man of diverse interests. He found joy in following Nascar, watching various sports, and trying his luck with claw machines and scratch-off lottery tickets. Most importantly, his heart was deeply connected to his grandchildren, and he cherished their activities and sporting events. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Leland and Verna Smith, his beloved wife, Mable Smith, and his daughter, Darla Pearce. He is survived by his sons, Rodney Smith of Emory, TX, Michael Smith of Rockwall, TX, and Kerry Foote and wife Tiffany of Tallahassee, FL.
