Marlene Mataruski, 75, of Brookfield, OH, passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2023, in the Hospice of the Valley, Hospice House, Poland, OH. Ms. Mataruski was born on August 8, 1948, in Farrell, a daughter of the late John and Martha (Raykovich) Mataruski. She was a 1966 graduate of Farrell High School and became a registered nurse in 1971, following her studies at Sharon General Hospital. Two years later, Marlene attended Trumbull Memorial Hospital School of Anesthesia, where she became a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. She ultimately earned her master's degree from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland. Marlene retired from St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Youngstown, OH. Throughout her career, she touched the lives of countless patients and created many lifelong friendships among her colleagues and students. A true "Green Thumb," Marlene's knowledge of plants was unmatched. Friends could count on Marlene for gardening insight. "Her advice saved many ill plants from the garbage. " She was known for her beautiful African Violets and Christmas Cacti. Additionally, she enjoyed watching soap operas and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Marlene was a lifelong member of St. Anthony's Church, Sharon. She is survived by an uncle, George Dobrozdravich, Sharon; and several cousins. In addition to her parents, Marlene was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Elliot. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Our Lady of Mt. Tina Treccase

With immense heartbreak and sadness, we announce the passing of Tina Morosini Treccase, 84, of Neshannock Township on the afternoon of November 25, 2023. Tina was a beloved wife, mother and friend to all. She was born in Casignana, Reggio Calabria, Italy. Tina was a talented seamstress and a wonderful cook; she gave her love abundantly through her food, and loved sharing meals with friends. Tina is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Frank, her daughter Marialisa of Pittsburgh, PA, her son Domenick and his wife Elizabeth of Danville, CA, and her two grandchildren, Jacqueline and Dante. Tina also leaves behind numerous relatives and friends in Italy, whose heartbreak is compounded by distance. She will be missed by all who knew her. She endured far too many health conditions for any one person. A two-time breast cancer survivor, who courageously fought to be there for her family. It is a comfort knowing that Tina is suffering no longer. She is at peace in heaven with the angels, watching over her loved ones. A memorial service will be held at a later date, to be announced. Joseph Macri

Age - 81

Joseph "Chuck" Macri, 81, of Union Township passed away the evening of November 27, 2023 at UPMC Jameson. Born in New Castle on December 30, 1941, Joe was the son of the late Anthony and Rose Calve Macri. On November 11, 1967 Joe married his beloved wife the former Marlene Azara. She survives at home. Joe being the constant Jokester he was would always tell the story of how he and Marlene met in December, married in November wanting to make sure she didn't sober up - thus the short courtship. They would never divorce because neither wanted sole custody of their three children. Joe will be remembered as the "local barber" owning Macri's Barber Shop for sixty- one years. He proudly served his country as a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard. Joe was an avid golfer and Poker Player. He had played in The World Series of Poker twice in Las Vegas. He loved his Pittsburgh Steelers and had been a season ticket holder since 1970. Joe had also been a longtime member of Union Township Lions Club. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Joe's greatest joy was the time he spent with his family. In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by his children, Dr. Candice Macri (Donald Rozman), Chaz Macri (Maria) and Martisse Macri (J. Hall), one sister, Loretta Bonci and four grandchildren, Antonio, Dante, Azai and Meko. Dale McCracken "Butch" Bartley, 81, of Shenango Township passed away the evening of November 27, 2023 at Jameson Care Center. Born in New Castle on June 26, 1942 Dale was the son of the late Albert James and Wilda Grace McCracken Bartley. Dale was preceded in death by his beloved wife, the former Charlotte Mayberry on February 14, 2020. Dale was a retiree of McClymonds Trucking. He had played guitar with the Blue Grass Band "Bartley Brothers" for many years. Dale enjoyed sitting on his porch watching birds and wildlife come through his backyard. A loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Dale's greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially all of his grandchildren. Dale is survived by his children, Beth Anderson (Jay), Alice Kirkwood and Stacey Duncan (John), eleven grandchildren, Kylee Sickafus (Mike), Briana Kirkwood (Andrew), Doug Kirkwood, Alaina Giannetti (Joe), Domenica Laurenza, Domenic Laurenza, Kaitlyn Sorensen (Phil), Kierston Blenheim (Alex) and Tyler Anderson (Nicole),John Duncan, and Charlene Cumberledge (Jake); fifteen great-grandchildren, Brayden and Adelynn Sickafus, Kathryn Giannetti, Lily Kohser, Elliot Kirkwood, Declan Seger, Easton and Murphy Sorensen, Myles, Piper and Elosie Blenheim, Wyatt Anderson, Johnny Duncan, Owen and Obrey Cumberledge. In addition to his parents and wife, Dale was preceded in death by his first wife Roberta "Bobbie" Bartley Miller, his brothers, Albert, Wayne, Marvin and Irl Bartley and one sister, Phyllis Gruca and two sons John and Jared Bartley. Kelly D. Gibson, 44, of Neshannock Township passed away the morning of November 27, 2023 at Jameson Care Center after her courageous battle with cancer. Kelly was born in New Castle on October 14, 1979. She is survived by her father, Terry Gibson, mother, Sandy Boring Micco and step-father Ronnie Micco, all of New Castle. She was a graduate of Lawrence County Vo-Tech. Kelly had worked for the New Castle School District as a Personal Care Assistant until she retired. Kelly loved Country Music and enjoyed going to concerts. A loving daughter, sister and aunt Kelly's greatest joy was the time she spent with her family. In addition to her parents and step-father, Kelly is survived by her brother, Terry Gibson (Tammi), her sister, Stacey Fleo (Willie), four nephews, Jared Fleo (Leigha), Justin Fleo (Mary Rose), Matt Gibson and Logan Gibson, and one great nephew, Jack and one great niece, Andie. Yolanda "Viola" Malizia, 90, of New Castle passed away the afternoon of November 23, 2023 at UPMC Jameson. Born in New Castle on April 3, 1933 Viola was the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Maria (Masters) Mangino. Viola married her beloved husband, Joseph "Red" Malizia, Jr. on May 9, 1953. Red preceded her in death on October 18, 2007. Viola was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Camillus Church. She was also a member of the Ladies of the Dukes. In the early years Viola was a very good athlete, she participated in the Great City Bowling Championship. She also enjoyed playing softball, dancing and going roller skating. Viola will always be remembered as a "top notch" baker and cook. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Viola's greatest joy was the time she spent with her family. Viola is survived by her children, Samuel Joe Malizia (Mauvette), Mary Jo Burchfield (Richard, Sr. ), and Emma Jo Yoursh (Marc Sr. ), her brother, Joseph Mangino, Jr. , two sisters-in-law, Judy Mangino and Barbara Mangino, thirteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Viola was preceded in death by six brothers, Frank (Snooky), Ralph, Andrew, William, Lawrence and Michael Mangino and two sisters, Josephine Cwynar and Nicolina Vivelo. Thomas E. Mostert, 69, of Burgettstown, PA, formerly of Holly Hill, FL, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes early Tuesday morning, November 21, 2023, in Weirton Medical Center, Weirton, WV. Mr. Mostert was born January 26, 1954, in Daytona Beach, FL, a son of the late Harry Dennis Mostert and Alice (Cunningham) Mostert, and attended Mainland High School. A proud veteran, Thom served in the U. S. Army and was stationed at Fort Benning, GA, for three years. He retired from Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania, where he had worked as a foreman. A talented craftsman, Thom had a lifelong passion for woodworking, crafting anything from furniture to birdhouses, and was also a gifted welder. He also enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson Motorcycle. Thom is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Klemencic, of Aliquippa, PA; three children; Randi Short (Blaine), Jessica Lopez (Joel), Savannah Hillard (Bobby); five grandchildren, Paxton, Zephan, and Delaney Short, Delia Hillard, and Brody McKay; a step-son, Thomas McKay, Cleveland, OH; two sisters; Cecily Noel and Susan Raymond; two brothers, Nicholas and Timothy Mostert; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Thom was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Mostert. Funeral services will be held privately. Terrance M. Nathan, 65, of Neshannock Township passed away the morning of November 21, 2023 at Brighton Rehab and Wellness Center. Born in Washington, D. C. on December 8, 1957, Terrance was the son of the late William T. Nathan, Sr. and Doris T. (Richardson) Nathan. Terrance had done maintenance work for several different companies as a painter and roofer. He was also self-employed doing home improvements. Terrance also enjoyed watching television and playing video games. Terrance is survived by his four brothers, William T. Nathan, Jr. , Ronald Nathan, Keith Nathan and Kevin Nathan, and one sister, Sharon Chapple. In addition to his parents, Terrance was preceded in death by two brothers, Glenn Nathan and Lawrence Nathan. Honoring his wishes services are private. Janie Wesner, 34, of New Castle passed away unexpectedly of natural causes late Monday evening, November 20, 2023. Janie was born October 16, 1989, in New Castle, a daughter of John and Samantha (McMunn) Wesner. A lifelong resident, Janie graduated from New Castle High School in 2008 and received her Nurse's Aide Certification through Quality of Life Services(QLS). Janie was working as a Nurse's Aide at Quality of Life's New Castle location. She had a talent for crafting and loved crocheting gnomes and animals. Above all else, Janie was a devoted mother to her beloved son, Jackson William Wesner, and cherished every moment she spent with him. In addition to her son, Janie is survived by her parents, John and Samantha Wesner, of New Castle; two brothers, Johnny and Daniel Wesner, also of New Castle; and her paternal grandmother, Leona Gudyk, of Bessemer. Janie was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Kenneth Reed Wesner; and maternal grandparents, William and Catherine McMunn. Mabel G. Galizia, 87, of Union Township passed away the morning of November 21, 2023 at her residence. Born in Clark, PA on July 12, 1936, Mabel was the daughter of the late Harold and Sarah (Butler) Winner. On September 29, 1956 Mabel married her beloved husband, Frank Galizia. Frank preceded her in death on August 9, 2018. Mabel began her career with the Union School District working in the cafeteria. She then went on to be the Secretary to the principal at Union and the Secretary to the Principal at the Lawrence County Vo-Tech. She ended her career teaching Computer Science courses for adults in the evening at Vo-Tech. Mabel was a member of Holy Spirit Parish. She enjoyed sewing and baking. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Mabel's greatest joy and accomplishment was taking care of and spending time with her family. Mabel is survived by her children, Toni Ann Badger (Donald) of New Castle, Dr. Frank Galizia (Stephanie) of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, Mark Galizia and Stephen Galizia, both of New Castle, seventeen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Mabel was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Winner and her sister, Sally Winner. Visitation will be on Saturday 10:00 a. m. to 12:00 p. m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 941 S.
