Bethany Diane Taylor, 62, of Leslie, Michigan, passed away November 15, 2023. She was born in Eaton Rapids, Michigan, on November 19, 1960, to her late parents, Shirley Wella Warfield and Elton Ray Bennett Sr. Bethany grew up in Dimondale, Mi, and attended Northwest School. She went on to marry David Taylor, and they were together for over 20 years. Bethany was a stay-at-home mom to her three children before working at the Meijers bakery in Mason. In her last days she was joyfully able to be a stay-at-home grandma to all her 6 grandkids. In addition to raising her kids and grandkids, Bethany had many other passions that filled her days. She loved anything artsy, painting, working on crafts, and spending time in her garden. Anyone that knew Bethany was certain that above all else, she was a loving and protective mother and grandmother. Her family were always the most important thing in her life. Bethany was also kind, happy, and funny. Qualities that endeared her to everyone she knew. That kind and caring heart lead her to be a devout woman of God, a true believer. This belief brought her tremendous comfort in her final days. Bethany is survived by her children, Davy, Bobby, and Becky (Shane Hill) Taylor; grandchildren, Logan Taylor, Caleb Smith, Zoey Taylor, Elizabeth Taylor, Dreama Hill, and Chance Hill; siblings, Shawn (Floyd) Buck, Reylene Burke, Wendy (Tom) Pion, Chevelle Bennett, Danny Stemen, Mike (Cheryl) Stemen; and sister-in-law, Cinda Bennett In addition to her parents and husband, Bethany is preceded in death by her twin baby boys; siblings, Elton Bennett Jr. , James A. Bennett, Eddy Bennett, and Luella Bennett; and brother-in-law, Marvin Burke. Services honoring Bethany's life will be held at 1:00 p. m. on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at Vickers Leslie Funeral Home, located at 109 N. Church St. , Leslie, Michigan. A visitation will begin one hour prior to service on Tuesday. Bethany will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery immediately following the service. A luncheon will be provided following the burial and will be held at the First Baptist Church of Leslie, located at 204 E. Bellevue St, in Leslie, Michigan. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Davy Taylor, Logan Taylor, Caleb Smith, Paul Smith, Danny Burke, Wayne Bennett, Kevin Parker, and Shane Hill. Jane Ann Cummings, age 95, of Leslie, Michigan, passed away on November 10, 2023. She was born on September 20, 1928 in Buena Vista Township, Saginaw, Michigan, to Wilmer and Marguerite Fischer. Jane attended and graduated from Flint Northern High School in 1947. She married Rex Cummings, and they enjoyed 33 years of marriage before his passing. Jane was a woman of faith and a dedicated member of Eden United Brethren in Christ Church. She enjoyed time spent outdoors and found solace in camping. Jane loved the thrill of motorcycling, relishing the open road and sense of freedom. Her adventurous spirit was matched only by her love for dancing, a pastime that brought her immense joy. A creative soul, Jane was an avid scrapbooker, capturing all the important moments in life. She enjoyed the camaraderie of playing games, always ready for some good natured competition. Above all else, Jane cherished moments spent with her family. In the last year of life, Jane was lovingly cared for by the compassionate staff at Divine Nest in Leslie, Michigan. Their dedication and kindness provided comfort and support, ensuring that Jane's final chapter was filled with love and dignity. Jane was preceded in death by her loving husband of 33 years, Rex Cummings; parents, Wilmer and Marguerite Fischer; stepfather, Louis Marks; stepmother, Frieda Fischer; Brother, Ronald (Losia) Marks; sister, Della (Alfred) Altscheffel; Brother-in-law, Richard Cornwell; sons-in-law, Joe Denomme, and Richard Brownlee. Jane is survived by her daughters, Pamela (Parker) Denomme and Pennie (Parker) Brownlee; stepsons, Larry (Amy) Cummings, William (Susan) Cummings; grandchildren: James (Lindsey) Brownlee, Richard G. Brownlee, Dawn (Adam) Fogg, Kailee Cummings, Cole Cummings, Collin Cummings, and Zachary Cummings; 9 great grandchildren; sister, Mary Cornwell; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service honoring Jane's life will be held Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at 11:00 a. m. at Eden United Brethren in Christ Church, 1938 Eden Rd. Mason, Michigan 48854. Jane will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery following the service. The family will begin receiving visitors one hour prior to the beginning of the service as well as on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 from 6:00 - 8:00 p. m. at the church. Herbert Austin, Sr. passed away September 7, 2023, at Divine Nest in Leslie, Michigan. Age 88 years. He was born October 8, 1934, in Lansing, Michigan to parents, Zella Nesbitt and C. H. Austin. Herb was a life-long resident of Lansing, Michigan, attending Eastern High School where he was known as "small & mighty" as he played guard in football. Herb also won state championships for two consecutive years in wrestling. After graduating, Herb served honorably in the United States Army and attended both Lansing Community College and Michigan State University. He went on to become the Director of the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration, where he retired after 33 years of service. Herb faithfully served as an Elder, Deacon and Sunday School Teacher at Mt. Zion All Nations Bible Church in DeWitt, Michigan. In addition, he proudly helped in establishing The Junior Deacon Board, as well. He was a loving husband to his wife, Kathryn, of 61 years before she preceded him in death. Herb adored his family endlessly. Herb leaves to cherish his memory daughter, LaNette (Randall) Hester; sons, Herbert Austin, Jr. , and Andre Austin; grandchildren, Angel (Marcus) Nickerson, Jonathan (Nyshell) Lawrence, Mariah Lawrence, Andre (Briana) Austin, Steven Lawrence, Ryeasha Hester, Ryanna Hester, and Ryaira Hester; great grandchildren, Joelle King, Olyvia Lawrence, Emerson Lawrence, Imari Lawrence, Luna Nickerson, Sol Nickerson, Azaria Austin, Brylo Saxton, and Dayanna Hunt; daughter-in-law, Liz Austin; brothers-in-law, Willkie Hopkins and Samuel (Deanna) Hopkins; and many more relatives and friends, including adopted daughters, Debra Austin, Tanya Geffrard, Michelle McGuire, and Tamie Moran. He was preceded in death by the wife he adored, Kathryn; father, C. H. Austin; mother, Zella Nesbitt; stepfather, John Henry Nesbitt; and grandparents, Wesley and Lula Austin, David and Bessie Hinton. Arthur Wright, 82, of Leslie, Michigan passed away March 8, 2023 at the Henry Ford Hospice Home. He is survived by his daughter, Linda (Bill) Miers of Rives Junction; granddaughters, Elizabeth and Victoria; sister, Phyllis Elliott of Prestonsburg, Kentucky; brother, Ronnie Wright of Onondaga, Michigan; along with several nieces and nephews. He was born in Dock, Kentucky on June 13, 1940, the son of the late George and Susie (Ousley) Wright. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice (Ann), whom he married on July 30, 1965. He graduated from Martin High School and moved to Michigan shortly thereafter. Arthur retired from Harvard Industries in Jackson in the early 1990s and served as a committee member of the UAW. In addition to his wife and parents, Arthur was preceded in death by his brothers, James Wright, Hagar Wright, Raben Wright, Johnny Wright; and sister, Dorothy Ratliff. Arthur enjoyed fishing, gardening, and watching sports, his favorite being University of Kentucky basketball. He loved hunting, especially rabbit hunting with his beagles with which he won several field trails. Above all else he adored his twin granddaughters and cherished his time spent with them. On Thursday, June 30, 2022, Donald Lester Haueter, Sr. , 83, passed away in hospice care at home with loved ones in Leslie, Michigan. He was born on September 19, 1938 to Harold and Lois Haueter (both deceased), and grew up in Grand Ledge, Michigan. Don was married to Lonna (Jenerou) Bear early on in life where his first four children were born: Cynthia Calhoun, Jeannine (Steve) Haueter, Donald Jr. (Michelle) Haueter, and Leslie (James) Lee. Don worked as a Millwright at Oldsmobile in Lansing, MI, from 1960 until he retired in 2000. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Family driving vacations were always a fun time for Don. He enjoyed riding his Gold Wing out on the open road. In 1988 he met Patricia Jo Sweet at a motorcycle rally in Cody, Wyoming, and soon after they were married. Don and Pat loved their rides together and spent much of their time involved with the Gold Wing Road Riders Association (GWRRA) and Mid-Michigan Riders. They were named the Chapter 'L' Couple of the Year in 1996. With Don's marriage to Pat, Don gained four more children: Thomas (Penny) Kaiser, Kelli (Robert) Hart, Kip (Tina) Kaiser, and Dan (Katrice) Sweet. Patricia predeceased Don in September of 2010. Don had a full life with his 8 children and their spouses/partners, as well as 28 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Don enjoyed his annual visits to Aruba. He was an island mainstay, being the first US citizen to buy into one of the resorts before it was ever built. He never missed a year beginning in 1984. There were so many friends and great times. Don enjoyed the friendship with his coworkers until the very end. They spent many hours at union meetings and lunches. They will all miss him dearly. Don was a fighter over the past 8 years. He beat stage 4 cancer and was determined to beat this current diagnosis, but there were just too many odds stacked against him. We're all proud of you Don for trying to stick it out. Rest peacefully. You are loved and will be missed daily. No formal funeral service is being planned; however, there will be a memorial service for Donald at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 1111 N. Cedar Street, Mason, MI on Saturday, August 13, 2022 from 2:00-5:00 p. m. The family requests in lieu of flowers, that people make donations in support of the Capital Area Humane Society, 7095 W.
