Eliza Mae Houston was born February 17, 1929, in Uniontown, Alabama to the late Alexander and Mary Williams.
She confessed Christ at an early age at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Uniontown, Alabama. After relocating to Bessemer, Alabama, she joined Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in 1947 under the leadership of Reverend B. B. Strowder and presently Pastor William E. Scott, where she served on the usher board and choir.
Eliza was joined in holy matrimony to the late James Houston on December 25, 1947, and to this union eight
children were born. Preceding her in death were her parents, Alexander and Mary Williams; husband, James Houston; sons, Robert, Arthur, David, Jerry, and Kenneth Houston; sisters, Amelia Owens, Fanny Waller, and Easter Lee; and brothers, Jordon, Solomon, Johnny, and James Williams. She leaves to cherish her memories; her loving daughters,
Jacqueline Larkins, Ethel (Ronald) Harris, and Mary Houston of Bessemer, AL; sister, Rosie Milligan of Tuscaloosa, AL; brother, Willie (Emma) Williams of Niagara Falls, NY; sister-in-law, Louise Williams of Niagara Falls, NY; daughter-in-law, Denise Houston of Brentwood, NY; fifteen grandchildren, seventeen greatgrandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Eliza loved cooking and spending time with her family and friends. She was always full of love and life. She will be truly missed.Show more
