Larry Schmidt Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Larry Alan Schmidt, a beloved father, brother, and friend who touched the lives of those around him with his warmth, kindness, and humor. Larry passed away peacefully on April 22, 2023, in a Lake Charles hospital, surrounded by his loved ones. Born on November 11, 1964, in West Monroe, Louisiana, Larry was the cherished son of Donald and Laura Rogers Schmidt. Despite the challenges he faced due to his disability, Larry approached life with resilience and optimism, demonstrating an unwavering strength of spirit that inspired everyone who knew him. Those left to cherish Larry's memory are, his daughter, Caitlin Riser Schmidt; his sister, Donna Leleux (Mark) of Lake Charles, LA; his brothers, Ronald Edward Smith (Mary) of Cornelius, NC and Kenneth Wayne Smith of Ruston, LA; his long-time companion, Ethel Simmons; his sister in law, Patsy Smith; his niece, Laura Brown of Austin, TX who was the greatest advocate for his health care; and many other nieces and nephews.
