Larry A. Orcutt, 75, of Gloversville, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2023 with his family by his side. A Service of Remembrance will take place on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at 3p. m. at Fulmont Community Church, 16 W. Fulton Street, Gloversville, NY 12078. Relatives and friends are invited and may call prior to the service beginning at 1p. m. at the church. Private burial will take place in Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Homes, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville.

Donald Russell Smith, Jr. , age 83, of Johnstown, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2023, at Nathan Littauer Hospital Nursing Home, Gloversville. He was born September 27, 1940, in Amsterdam, the son of Donald and Gladys (Bunn) Smith. He served in the NY Army National Guard and was later employed by General Electric Co. in Schenectady and by Lee Dyeing Co. in Johnstown. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and camping. He was a member of Knesseth Israel Synagogue, Pine Tree Rifle Club, the Johnstown Moose, the Sprite Club, and the Nick Stoner Trailers Snowmobile Club. He enjoyed his annual school reunions with the Johnstown class of 1958 and daily breakfast with his retired friends at the Vintage Cafe, Johnstown. Donald is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marsha (Perl) Smith; a daughter, Erica Carpenter (Louie); a brother, Bryan L. Smith (Kathleen); a grandson, Alfred Donald Carpenter; sisters-in-law, Shirley Davis, Rita Friedman and Roslyn Oberson; a nephew, Todd Smith (Wende); three nieces, Rebecca Razon (Eric), Beth Dievendorf (Joe) and Samantha Koehler (Erv); as well as several cousins, grandnieces and grandnephews. A Funeral Service will take place at 11 am Wednesday, December 6th at Knesseth Israel Synagogue, 34 E. Fulton St; Gloversville, with Rabbi Suzanne Schermerhorn officiating. Interment will follow at Knesseth Israel Cemetery, Gloversville. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Knesseth Israel Synagogue or Pine Tree Rifle Club. ObituaryMaster Sergeant Gilbert C. Wendt, age 106, of Gloversville, died peacefully August 13, 2022, following a brief illness. He was born July 23, 1916 in Northville, NY, the son of Ervin and Jessa (Bissell) Wendt. Gilbert graduated in 1936 from Johnstown High School. He worked in various local businesses until his July 1941 army enlistment. He graduated New England Aircraft School in 1942 and served in the European Theatre until the end of WWII. Upon his return, he met 'his beautiful bride' Concetta (Connie) Renda, married her and raised three children. They celebrated their 48th anniversary shortly before her passing in February 1996. He was a dedicated family man, working full time in area leather mills and part time at Adirondack Peters, later joining the Leader-Herald Newspaper as the Johnstown Circulation Manager. He was Past President of the Fulton County Antique Auto Club and the oldest member of it and both Johnstown FOE 1575 and the Concordia Club. He is predeceased by his wife Connie, his parents, brother and sisters. He is survived by his son, Mark J. (MaryAnn) Wendt of Johnstown; daughters, Nancy L. (Edward) Komar of Mooresville, NC; Patricia W. (David) Noble of Gloversville; four cherished grandchildren, six beloved great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Gilbert loved life and shared humor and celebration with everyone he met. He annually attended opening day at Saratoga Race Course, drove his Mustang in Antique Auto Club mystery rides, and enjoyed club events. He loved good food, drinks, cooking, baking and time with family and friends. He was a talented artist, enjoyed music, travel to Sint Maartin and stateside visits with family. Calling hours are 4 to 7 p. m. , Thursday, August 18, at Finocan Funeral Home, 13 Prospect Ave. , Gloversville. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home 9:30 a. m. , Friday, August 19, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at The Church of the Holy Spirit, 156 S. Main St. , Gloversville. Antone Ralbovsky the lll (Tony) 77 year old age, died peacefully on Oct 28, while a resident at the Mountain Valley Mountain Palliative and Hospice Care, Gloversville, N. Y. Antone was born on Jan 30, 1946 to Parents Margaret Knoblach Ralbovsky and Antone Ralbovsky Sr. He is survived by his only and beloved daughter Journey Blue Heaven (nee Ralbovsky), Sister Linda Ralbovsky Gordon and and husband Terry Gordon of the Gloversville area. He will be missed by niece Lisha Ann Geraci, Ralph Antone Geraci, Angelo Frank Geraci . Over and above, great nieces Kaylin Geraci, and Janelle Geraci. Tony graduated from the first class of Bishop Burke High School in 1963. He was well known in the area as a premier guitarist player that was instrumental in establishing many popular of the day including the Novas, the Originals, Brothers, Lovers and Friends, among many others. His mother Margaret managed a band for a couple of years and got them much regional recognition including a trip to the NY states's World Fair in 1966. He led bands and continually inspired new musicians to reach their musical potential. He recently won a lifetime achievement award from Dorn Space in recognition of his life long love of music and playing guitar. In June 2023, he performed with his daughter JBHeaven at the newly renovated Glove Theater to an audience of loyal devoted fans. He will forever be remembered as the Magician of Music with his magic fingers on the strings. Special thanks to the following people for their love and support. Mrs. Sandra Lee Lunkenheimer, 78, of Amsterdam, died October 19, 2023, at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville. She was born August 26, 1945, in Gloversville, the daughter of Robert and Marie (Madden) Mathias. She was a graduate of Mayfield High School and Albany Business College. She was employed by the former Dorfman and Company, First Trust Bank and the Gloversville Enlarged School District. Sandy was a Church School Teacher at the former Sacred Heart Church, Gloversville, and a former 4H Leader. Her memberships included St. Stanislaus Church, the former Pleasant Square Volunteer Fire Dept. Auxiliary and the former Foresters (AOF). Survivors include her husband of 56 years, H. Gary Lunkenheimer of the Town of Amsterdam; four children, Amy Lynn Bronk (Robert) of the Town of Johnstown, Lori Ann Peck (Patrick) of Bridgeport, NY, Danielle Lee Loux (Paul) Marlborough, Mass; and Dr. Jared Ryan Lunkenheimer, M. D. (fiance Jenny Ajl) of Tucson, Arizona; two siblings, Michael Robert Mathias (Marigold) of Mesa, Arizona and Daniel Robert Mathias (Deborah) of Hagaman, NY; four grandchildren, Ashley Bronk, Elizabeth Claus, Zachary Loux and Payton Peck; two great-grandchildren, Stella Young and Roland Claus; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Ann Marie Inghram. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 6 pm Monday, October 23rd at Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Homes, Gloversville, 51 Fremont St, Gloversville. Clara A. Swarts, 71, of Gloversville, passed away Tuesday morning, October 10, 2023 at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville. All her family and dearest friends were there at her side. She was born September 21, 1952 in Gloversville, the daughter of Robert and Nina (Semione) Castiglione. She was a graduate of FMCC and the State University of Fredonia. Clara was employed as a schoolteacher and Principal at the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel School, Gloversville, until it closed. She then worked at for a brief period at FMCC until her illness. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, reading and loved cooking the Italian way. She was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirt. Clara is survived by her husband, Stephen J. Swarts; three children, Kym DeFranko, Joni Melville (Brian) and Robert Swarts (Alex Ziang); a sister, Joan M. Karas (George); five grandchildren, Maddox DeFranko, Nina DeFranko, Nathaniel Melville, Henry Melville and Stephen Ziang Swarts; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive relatives and friends from 10 am to 11:30 am Friday, October 13th at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 153 S. Main St; Gloversville, where a Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 am with the Reverend Donald Czelusniak officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown.
