Larry Joe Meggenberg, 71, of Clinton, Iowa, passed away at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics on Saturday, September 9, 2023. Funeral services take place at 11 am on Friday, September 15, at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel. A visitation occurs from 5 pm until 8 pm on Thursday, September 14, at the Funeral Home, with an additional visitation occurring one hour prior to the Funeral Service on Friday. Burial takes place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements. Larry was born July 18, 1952, in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Harvey and Shirley (Humphrey) Meggenberg. He was united in marriage to Sally Shadle on February 5, 1977, in Clinton Iowa. Up until a short time ago, Larry was still working at ADM, in the Co-Gen Plant, a career spanning 44 years at ADM. Larry was an avid sports fan following all sports pertaining to the Iowa Hawkeyes, the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs. He loved his annual vacation to Gulf Shores, Alabama, and travels through Tennessee. He enjoyed socializing with family and friends. Larry loved his fur-baby, his dog Lila. Above all, he loved his family very much and will be greatly missed. Larry is survived by his wife Sally of Clinton; two children - Christopher Meggenberg and Amanda Meggenberg both of Clinton; one grandchild - Madison Meggenberg of Clinton; one brother - Michael Meggenberg of Clinton one sister - Lynda Meggenberg of CA; with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Joan E. Hagge age 90 of Clinton, IA, passed away Wednesday Nov. 29, 2023 at The Alverno Health Care, Clinton. Funeral service will be held 11:30 AM Monday Dec. 4th at First United Methodist Church. She married Ben McChurch on Nov. 1, 1951 in Des Moines, IA, he died in 1981. She later married Robert Hagge on Feb. 20, 1982 in Florida, he died in 2010. Joan and Ben was owner/operator of B & J Grocery Store, Clinton for over 33 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Moose Auxiliary, and former member of the A. B. W. A. Joan is survived by her three children, Becky (Dave) Hilgendorf of Clinton, IA, Cheri (John Mussmann) Rehr of Clinton, IA, and Dan (Debbie) McChurch of Lebanon, TN; four step children and their families which she really cared about a lot; 7 grandchildren, Noah, Lana, Kelly, Kyle, Kendle, Mitch, Connor and 13 great grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews. Sandra "Sandy" Lynn Vilmont, 76, of Clinton, Iowa, passed away at home on Wednesday, November 22, 2023. Burial is at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements. Sandy was born March 19, 1947, in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Leonard and Gladys (Grant) Taylor. She was a 1965 graduate of Clinton High School. She was united in marriage to Vernon Vilmont on January 17,1970 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Clinton. Sandy was a longtime member of Jesus Christ Prince of Peace Catholic Church and the former St. Mary's Catholic Church, Clinton. She worked many years at General Electric, in Morrison, Illinois, and along with her husband owned and operated Kilroy's Tavern in Clinton for ten years. She concluded her career working as an aide at Sarah Harding - Senior Living. Sandy was an avid reader. She loved all animals - watching birds was a favorite past time. She also loved her dog Sam. She loved being outdoors and tending to her flower garden. Above all, she loved her family very much, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sandy is survived by: daughter - Lynn (Wes) Schmook of Rock Island, IL; son - Patrick (Danika) Vilmont of Waukee, IA; one grandson - Ryan Kooi of Clinton, IA; two grand-daughters - Alyssa Kooi (Nathan Whelan) of Rock Island and Clare Vilmont; with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was a 1950 Goose Lake High School graduate. Arlene married Donald J. Dierksen August 12, 1956 in Miles, Iowa; Don died March 19, 1998. Arlene was a waitress at the 116 Grill for more than 21 years, retiring in 1995. She was a member and very active at the First United Methodist Church, especially in the church kitchen, she was a member of United Methodist Women, the AMVETS Auxiliary, she enjoyed bowling and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She always had a full cookie jar. Survivors include her children, Thomas (Carol) Dierksen of Long Grove, IA; Richard (Lisa) Dierksen of Spragueville, IA; Ronald (Mary) Dierksen of Clinton, IA; Terry Dierksen of Bettendorf, IA; Barbara (Tom) Tholen of Clinton, IA; Nancy (Brian) Karmelich of Palos Verdes, CA and Ann (Will) Schocker of Fulton, IL; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; brothers, Gary (Cheryl) Taplin and Dennis (Diane) Taplin both of Bryant, IA and many nieces and nephews. "Kim Marie Drury, age 63, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, November 10th, 2023, at Mercy One Hospice in Clinton, Iowa. Kim Marie Pugh was born on March 22st, 1960, in Clinton, Iowa, to parents John Pugh and Lorraine Hass. Kim attended local Clinton schools and graduated from Clinton High School in 1978. Kim worked as a machinist in her early career and later attended cosmetology school. She was a licensed cosmetologist and her specialty was outstanding manicures. Kim had two children when married, Jon Drury and Jackie Drury. Kim was a loving mother and a hard working mom. She enjoyed collecting antiques and refinishing them. She also enjoyed her pets over the years, having numerous kitties and beloved dogs. Kim loved being a Mom the most and shared her love with her kids and her grandchildren. Kim and her significant other, Ray Kupfer, enjoyed attending car shows with their antique cars. They enjoyed cruising in their various antique cars, along the Riverfront and other areas around Clinton. Kim was a good friend to many and over the years, she helped others quietly without drawing attention to herself. She was a giver of love and compassion to her friends and family. In her later years she developed health issues that made it harder for her to get out. Kim is survived by her daughter Jackie Drury of Ames; Iowa, her mother Lorraine Hass of Clinton; sister Carol Pugh of Clinton; her grandchildren; Hunter, Sadie, and Colton Drury of Clinton; and her significant other Ray Kupfer. Kim was preceded in death by her Father, John Pugh and her son, Jon Drury. Per her wishes there will be no services. Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes will be assisting the family with final arrangements. Ruth Lorraine Foley, 86, of Clinton, Iowa passed away peacefully at Addington Place (formerly Prairie Hills) on Saturday, November 18, 2023. Funeral services take place at 12 pm on Wednesday, November 22, at the Journey Church, Clinton. A visitation occurs 2 hours prior from 10 am until the service hour on Wednesday at the church. Pallbearers will be Ruth's grandsons - Christopher Morris, Joe Wiersema, Tom Wiersema and Andrew Wiersema. All of her grandchildren will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. Burial takes place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements. Ruth was born December 12, 1936, in Morrison, Illinois, the daughter of Albert and Annie (Dykstra) DeVries. She was united in marriage to Ursal "Doc" Wiersema on January 24, 1952 - they had six children together. They would later divorce in 1987. She then married Michael "Mike" Foley on December 29, 1989 in Fulton, Illinois - Mike passed away in May of this year. Ruth attended Journey Church, Clinton. She worked for many years as a Cook at the former Wyndcrest Nursing Home. In later years, she worked for her daughter in-law at "Unusual Reusables". Early on Ruth enjoyed bowling for various leagues. She also enjoyed playing games of chance at the Casino. Ruth loved to embroider and crochet blankets for babies and grandkids. She also loved to cook and made all the Mints for family graduations and weddings. Ruth was an avid reader and enjoyed playing Bingo at Addington Place. Above all, she loved her entire family very much and will be greatly missed. Ruth is survived by her children - Kathy (Don) Montgomery of Fulton, IL, Jim Wiersema of Fulton, IL, Cindy Wiersema of Dyersville, IA, Tim (Bonny) Wiersema of Clinton and Russell (Karen) Wiersema of Morrison, IL; five step-children - Barb (Robert) Koenes of Clinton, David Foley of Clinton; Doris (Mark) Whalen of Fulton, IL, Susan McChane of Albany, IL and Michelle (Darwin) Johnson of Clinton; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and many friends. Preceding Ruth in death are her parents, husband Mike, one daughter - Marcia VanderLinde, one daughter in-law - Cindy Sue Wiersema and two grandsons - Jason and Cody Wiersema. David Harvey Harkness, 81, of Western Springs passed away Friday, November 10, 2023 at Mercy One Hospital in Clinton, Iowa. Born to Harvey and Hazel Harkness on April 22, 1942 in Savannah, IL, David touched the lives of everyone who knew him. We celebrate that David is in the presence of the Lord, while we grieve the massive hole he leaves behind. He was an amazing man who exuded the love and joy of Jesus. As a devoted husband, father, brother, and uncle, surviving him are his wife, Barbara Harkness of Western Springs; son, Timothy (Jonna) Harkness of Morton; two grandchildren, Megan (Mac) Holt and Elissa (Grant) Hodel; three great-grandsons, Everett, Oliver, and Valor. He was a loving brother to his four siblings; Sue (Don) Williams, Duane (Pat) Harkness, Sandy (Steve) Barnaby, and Doug (Wanda) Harkness. He was also a caring and compassionate uncle to his nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by, and now joyfully reunited with, his parents, Harvey and Hazel Harkness, as well as his daughter, Stephanie Harkness. David's family will forever cherish the memories and impact he had on their lives. David's commitment to His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ guided him and his family through life. David attended Moody Bible Institute where he met his wife of 60 years, Barbara. Becoming father to two children, Timothy and Stephanie, David then worked as a teacher for a few years in the Chicago suburbs. He approached his work with integrity and passion. He then moved into working in insurance until retiring in 2008. In retirement, he continued to enjoy hunting with his family at their family farm in Hanover, IL, golfing with beloved friends, and serving as a faithful member and elder of La Grange Bible Church in La Grange, Illinois. Friends and family will both cherish and miss the integrity, kindness, humility, and joy that he brought to life. The family invites you to honor David's life through services at La Grange Bible Church, 850 7th Ave. , La Grange. The visitation will be held on Friday, November 17th from 4:00pm - 7:00pm.
