From 1964 until 1972, During the Vietnam War era and returned back to Texas attended SPC and University of Texas at Permian Basin, Odessa Texas College, North Harris County College through Amoco Production Co. worked for over 32 years overseas and retired as a Senior Drilling Foreman working in international operation & Gulf of Mexico Drilling. He retired on 1997 in Comanche County Texas where he had also ranched for some years. Jessie James Chancellor, 84 of Comanche, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2024. The family will gather with friends and family on Saturday, February 24 at Comanche Funeral Home from 2-4PM. Jessie Chancellor was born June 11, 1939 in Comanche, Tx. to Emmett & Alice Chancellor. He attened Comanche High School until joining the military. His mom signed for him with the promise to finish school so he kept that promise while in the military. Jessie was a morse code operator and was stationed in Korea. Upon returning from service he married Mary Irene Abbey on January 27, 1962. He was manager then area manager for Ingram Enterprises for 42 years. He enjoyed fishing, reading history books, family and grandkids, music and dancing in the living room with the love of his life. Jessie was a member of Shepherd's Chapel Church. Jessie is survived by daughters, Patricia Renee Kennedy & husband Michael, Mary Beth Mazurek & husband Wayne; sons, Tim Chancellor & wife Tammy, Michael Chancellor & wife Crystal; grandchildren, Jason Smith, Melissa Kennedy, Kameron Mazurek & wife Bridget, Carly Mazurek Banwart & husband Nick, Brandon Chancellor & wife Elizabeth, Dalton Chancellor & wife Kameron, Jayden Chancellor, Corbin Chancellor; great grandchildren, Serah, Nicolais, Mila, Chase, Preston, and Olivia; sisters, Wanda & Rayford Phillips, Debbie Chancellor, Brenda & Gary Voges. Gabrielle “Gabby” Shipmen-Allen, age 18, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2024, in Comanche, Texas. She was a senior at Comanche High School and was pursuing the dual credit program and was expected to graduate with her associate degree. She was very competitive in powerlifting. Gabby was employed at Sonic Drive-In thru the work study program. She loved her family and friends and enjoyed hanging out with them when she could. Gabby is survived by her father, Jimmy Allen of Comanche, Tx; birth mother, Sarah Shipman of Idaho; and three sisters, Victoria Mitchell of Crowley, Tx, Krystal Castillega of Joshua, Tx, and Kendra Castillega of Crowley, Tx. She was preceded in death by her papa, George Allen. Visitation will be a come and go, Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at Comanche Funeral Home Chapel from 10:00 AM-8:00 PM. Kimberly Kay Hennigan, 61, passed away on January 18, 2024 after a courageous battle with Huntington's disease. She was born July 19, 1962 in Warner Robbins, Georgia. On December 3, 1983 she was united in marriage to Stephen Lawrence Hennigan in Comanche, TX. Kim was a homemaker and later a teller for many years at Comanche National Bank. She enjoyed country music, roller coasters, camping trips with her family, and cheering on the Texas Tech Red Raiders. She is survived by her husband, Steve Hennigan of Comanche TX; two children, Megan Howard of Comanche, TX and Tyler Hennigan of Comanche, TX; two stepchildren, Shanna Hennigan of Houston, TX and Shaylor Hennigan of Sherman, TX; mother, Helen Stallings of Comanche TX, sister, Debra Riley and husband Kevin of San Angelo, TX; three grandchildren, Kenzie Cook, Harleigh Kent and Shaylie Hennigan; niece Sarah Cullers and husband Will of Comanche, TX; and many cousins whom she grew up close to. She is preceded in death by her father, Stanley Sowle. Visitation will be held Monday, January 22, 2024 from 1-2:00 p.m. at Comanche Funeral Home with the service to follow. Burial will take place at Gardens of Memory Cemetery. The family expresses gratitude to Alpha Omega Hospice and the staff at Western Hills Nursing Home. Judy Gooch Cheatham of Sidney, Texas passed away on November 25, 2023 in Comanche, Texas. A memorial service will be held at Comanche Funeral Home on Saturday, December 2 at 2:00 pm. Judy was born in Texon, Texas on March 21, 1945 to Curtis Ralph Gooch and Maude Alma (Cleveland) Gooch. She was raised in Big Lake and graduated from Reagan County High School in 1963. She attended business school in Austin for keypunch and worked in San Angelo and Fort Worth. It was in Fort Worth at General Dynamics that she met her husband, Larry. They were married on August 1, 1968 and later moved to Sidney where they owned and operated the grocery store. Once their daughters were in school, Judy started working in the Sidney school cafeteria and as a bus driver. She was active in the school and community as a 4H leader and the Parent Teacher Committee. She retired from the school in 1989. In spite of her long battle with Multiple Sclerosis, she enjoyed the country life, her family, and being Grammy to her grandchildren. She was a member of the Sidney Baptist Church. Judy was preceded in death by her parents Curtis Ralph Gooch and Maude Alma (Cleveland) Gooch and siblings Hugh McClure, Mary Lee, Mattie Jones, Bill McClure, Jimmy McClure, and Winn McClure. Judy is survived by her husband of 55 years, Larry Cheatham, of Sidney, daughters, Krista McCown (Mike) of Grand Prairie and Kendra Kearns (George) of Fort Worth, grandchildren Jackson Kearns and Paige McCown and many nieces and nephews. Memorials may be sent to the MS Society, Sidney Community Fund, or the Comanche Public Library. Andrea Marie Gantt was called home to be with our lord and savor Jesus Christ in Comanche, Texas on Sunday, September 3, 2023. She was born in Denton, Texas on November 10, 1975. Andrea was a caring wife to her husband Robert Gantt, adoring mother to her sons Cody and Parker Gantt. She was a loving daughter to her parents Jimmie and Barbara Maddox. A devoted sister to Steve Maddox and Amy Montgomery. She was a loving sister in-law to Marlo Maddox, Darren Montgomery, Ben and Kori Gantt, Kenny and Courtney Wood. She was a caring daughter in-law to Roger and Debbie Gantt. She loved her nieces and nephews Lane (Sara), Pace (Alayna), Megan, Kylie, Dallas, Skylar, Jaden, and Emilie. Jim and Barbara were the best parents that Andrea could have ever asked for. Even as an adult, she knew she could call them and they would be there. Having that relationship with them taught her how to be an amazing mom. Andrea was a valued member of the Denton High School, Class of 1994. She went on to graduate from TWU in 1999 with a degree in Community Health. She spent many years working in the banking industry, where she met her husband, Robert. Andrea married Robert on June 1, 2002. Robert and Andrea enjoyed traveling, hanging out with friends that she valued like family, and being the best parents to their boys. Andrea's happy place was on the beach with her family. Cody and Parker were the highlight of her life. She lived to watch them in whichever sport they were playing. She took pride in her boys and enjoyed every single moment she had with them. Being their mom was her favorite thing. Andrea loved her time with her sister Amy, and brother Steve. Big family gatherings were things that she held close to her heart. Trips to Arkansas, family reunions at the lake, and holidays with family were some of her most favorite times. She was truly the best friend to many. Throughout this week the resounding words that we have heard are that Andrea was a devoted friend, always there for her people, loved to have a good time, and truly cared what was going on in the lives of the people that were important to her. Andrea's Celebration of Life will be on September 16, at 10:30 am. This celebration will be at First Baptist Church in Ponder, with food and fellowship to follow. Joel Clifford Murphy passed away on September 2, 2023, in Comanche, Texas. He was born on November 28, 1936, in Ben Wheeler, Texas to Lance and Gladys Gray Murphy. He was united in marriage to Margie Sue Hill on March 24, 1960. They were married for 61 years. Joel served in the US Army for 2 years as an electrical repairman. He came back to his job with Texas Electric where he worked until 1995 and retired. He became a ham radio operator for Texas Electric. When he retired, he continued operating ham radios up to the last year when his cancer kept him from doing so. He loved talking to people around the world. Joel was a blessing to many people. He was a member of the Gustine Baptist Church. Joel loved sports. He enjoyed going to ball games. He never missed a Dallas Cowboys game on the Television. Joel is survived by his son Robert Murphy and wife, Staci, and grandchildren Ryan and Morgan Murphy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Murphy and son, Russell Murphy. Danny Wright

Danny Pat Wright, 78, the foreman of the Poor Farm, passed away on August 21, 2023, in Comanche, Texas. He was born on July 1, 1945, to Jefferson Lee Wright and Nelene Ashley Wright in Big Spring, Texas. After completing high school, he went on to further his education for a few more years at Howard College in Big Spring. Then he proudly joined the Army National Guard, to serve our country, from 1965-1971. Danny married Sandra Jo Owen Wright on December 31,1966, in Big Spring. He had been a part of the Comanche community since July 2012. Danny worked for Cosden Oil & Chemical as well as Nunn Electric Supply for 35 years as a craftsman and a salesman before retiring. He was a Mason and a Shriner as well as a member of the Lion's Club. He and his family are active members of Comanche County Cowboy Church. Some of his favorite times were spent with family. Dan is survived by his wife, Sandra, his daughter, Patty Cunningham and her husband Sam of Comanche, his grandchildren; Katy Cunningham of Comanche and Bobby Cunningham of Comanche, and his great-granddaughter, Hazely of Comanche, his brother, Lonnie and his wife, Nita, of Bluff Dale, and his nephews, D. D and Ryan. Dan is preceded in death by both of his parents, his paternal grandparents; D. J. and Ora Lee Wright, and his maternal grandparents; Lee and Pearl Ashley. Memorials can be made in his name to the Shriners Children's Hospital.
