Dezina Odom1946-2023Dezina Odom, 77, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, December 1, 2023. She was born April 14, 1946 in San Mateo, California to Winfred "Tex" and Ouida (Hudgins) Woodard. She grew up in California, graduating from Venice High School. Dezina married David Odom on February 20, 1965. After graduating she worked at a bank in Hollywood, where she met some movie-star bank customers, including Cary Grant. Later she would become one of the top consultants for Tupperware, a title she kept for 45 years. Dezina loved to read and was a great cook, making memorable corned beef and cabbage and birthday cakes for all of the family. Dezina was a very loving person, always giving to others and sharing her love of Jesus. She was a worthy woman (Proverbs 31). She was preceded in death by her son, Darcy Odom; her parents; and a brother, Charles Woodard. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, David; children, Dorinda Teem (Todd), Jackie Moser (Shawn), Davina Salmons (Wesley), Devin Odom (Jessica), and Derek Odom (Heidi); daughter-in-law, Tina Odom; grandchildren, Dillon Moser, Kaitlin Moser, Tyler Teem, Kylie Teem, Adelynn Salmons, Ardin Salmons, and River Odom; great-grandchildren, Alivia Moser, Wren Teem, Hallie Endecott, and twins on the way; siblings, David Woodard and Darrell Woodard; other extended family members and friends. Farewell Services with a Public Livestream will be held at 10:00 A. M. Tuesday at Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Entombment will be at Memorial Park Mausoleum. Clarence F. Ashler1932-2023Clarence F. Ashler, 91, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away November 23, 2023. He was born March 14, 1932 to Oliver and Emma (Butler) Ashler in Maysville, Missouri. They later moved to Union Star, Missouri. He attended grade school at a one room country school and graduated from high school at Union Star in 1950. He married Sandra Kay McGinness on April 18, 1970 in Ravenwood, Missouri. Clarence served in the U. S. Army in the Korean War (September 1952 through September 1954) in the 45th Infantry Division, 189th Field Artillery Battalion B Battery. After military service, he worked at the St. Joseph Stockyards as an office manager, secretary-treasurer and assistant manager. He retired from there in 1996. He worked at St. Francis Senior Complex from January 1997 to June 2005, retiring from there after 7-1/2 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Gladys Wright, and brother John Ashler. Clarence is survived by his wife, Sandra Kay Ashler, daughters Janet Peabody and Deborah Hill, 2 granddaughters, 5 great-grandchildren, brother, Omer Ashler and several nieces and nephews. Leroy C. Miller Jr. 1943-2023Leroy C. Miller Jr. , 79, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed from this world on Saturday, November 18, 2023, while holding the hands of his children, and was reunited with his wife Glenda and grandson Colt in Heaven. He was born on December 15, 1943, to Leroy C. and Betty L. (Carpenter) Miller in St. Joseph, Missouri. Leroy was a proud graduate of Central High School class of 1962 and he attended Northwest Missouri State University on a football scholarship. On May 11, 1963, he married his high school sweetheart, Glenda Kay Middaugh. Glenda was the love of his life. Since her passing, he always said they should have had "at least 10 or 15 more years" together. Glenda preceded him in death on February 2, 2011. Together they had two loving children, who were his pride and joy. Leroy enjoyed volunteering to coach their athletic events as children and supported them in every aspect of their childhood and adult lives. They were both by his side as he reunited with his true love. He dedicated 30 years to Procter & Gamble as a regional sales manager until retiring in 2009. He supervised and mentored many, many people who became life-long friends. He received numerous awards for leadership and sales excellence. His career with P&G was fulfilling and rewarding. Leroy enjoyed retirement, spending his time reminiscing with his friends from high school. He was very active in his graduating class luncheons and reunions. It was said that he always knew how to work a room and he never knew a stranger. Leroy embraced a passion for the outdoors. He particularly loved camping. He spent much of his time in Branson, MO camping with family and friends. He had a great love for nature and wildlife, especially favoring buffalo and cardinals. He was an animal lover who had a special place in his heart for horses, dogs, cats, and many other fur babies. Leroy was a lifelong John Wayne and Clint Eastwood fan. He spent his free time watching his favorite Westerns and his all-time favorite, 'Jerimiah Johnson. ' He also enjoyed spending time woodworking. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife of 47 years, Glenda Kay, his precious grandson, Colt Daniel Lee Jordan, his dog, Boone, who he referred to as "his pard," and his cat, Boo. Survivors include his children, Tyron Miller (Judy) and Amelia Zane Anne Jordan (Daniel); cherished grandchildren, MyKayla Miller and Stephan Jordan; sister, Cheryl Jordan (Larry) and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and his long-term companion, Linda Stiles of Leavenworth, Ks. Leroy's children would like to extend their gratitude to the wonderful staff at Living Community for their dedication and care during Leroy's final journey. Victoria C. Berry1947-2023Victoria C. Berry, 76, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2023. She was born May 22, 1947 in Carthage, Missouri to Lorenzo and Clara (Horn) Brandon. She grew up in St. Joseph and graduated from Central High School. Victoria married Gerald Francis Berry on March 22, 1974. He preceded her in death on October 22, 2023. She earned her Certified Medical Assistant degree from Vatterott College, then worked at Tiffany Square Nursing Home. Later, she was a bookkeeper for several years at McDonald's until retirement. Victoria enjoyed horseback riding, camping and, in her younger years, riding around with her brother-in-law Melvin on his Triumph motorcycle. She loved to read and watch classic Western movies with Gerald. Victoria loved having the whole family over for big holiday dinners. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Gerald; daughter, Belinda; a great-grandson, Beau; her parents; and siblings, Norman Brandon, David Brandon, Margaret Price, and DeeDee White. Survivors include her children, Ruth Ann Rippey (Steve), James Berry (Dianne), Gene Berry (Katie), and Dean Berry (Charlotte); 20 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and cousin, Carletta Arnold.
