Albert Louis Wyatt, a beloved preacher, teacher, and family man, was called home to the Lord on November 26, 2023. Born on December 26, 1932, in Detroit, Michigan, he lived a full and blessed life of 90 years before passing away peacefully in Sneads, Florida. Albert was the son of the late Theodore Roosevelt Wyatt and Minnie B. Rice Wyatt. He was the loving husband to his predeceased wife, Billie Dove Lester Wyatt, who served as the postmaster in Sneads for many years. Their marriage, which spanned an impressive 48 years, began on January 25, 1954, and was a testament to their enduring love and commitment. He was also predeceased by his brother, Michael D. Wyatt, and his daughter-in-law, Kathy Wyatt. Albert is survived by his children, Albert L. Wyatt, Jr. (Susan), Roger W. Wyatt, Mark S. Wyatt (Linda), Timothy L. Wyatt (Samantha), and Dawn Dove Wyatt Rose (David). He also leaves behind his brother, Ken W. Wyatt (Mary Ann), and his sister, Glenda Wyatt Pennington. His many grandchildren and great-grandchildren will carry forward his legacy and will remember their grandfather's love and wisdom fondly. Albert was a lifelong learner, earning his Bachelor's Degree in English from David Lipscomb College in 1957, followed by a Master's Degree in Counseling and Guidance from the University of South Alabama in 1961. His education served as the foundation for his lifelong service to others, both in his professional career and his ministry. After their wedding, Albert and his wife Billie served as house parents for the Tennessee Orphans Home, now known as the Tennessee Children's Home. This was the beginning of a life devoted to service and the Lord. Albert was a preacher of the gospel for the majority of his life in The Church of Christ. His ministry spanned congregations in Georgia, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, Alabama, and Florida, where he preached in Panama City, Quincy, and helped establish a congregation in Chattahoochee. Albert also served as a teacher and guidance counselor for the Apalachee Correctional Institution for 25 years before retiring. Albert's interests were as varied as they were heartfelt. He was a master woodcarver, creating many masterpieces for family and friends. In his younger years, he was an avid antiques collector. Above all, Albert loved his family dearly and cherished every moment spent with them. Albert's life was one of service, faith, and love. His legacy will continue to inspire and guide those who knew him. As the Apostle Paul said in 2 Timothy 4:7, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. " Albert Louis Wyatt lived these words every day, and his life stands as a testament to their truth. Albert's life was a sermon in itself, a testament to the power of faith, the importance of family, and the enduring value of service to others. His was a life well-lived, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Albert Louis Wyatt, a preacher, a teacher, a father, a friend, has answered the call to go home. His life was a blessing, his memory a treasure. He is loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure.
