Barbara Vance

Barbara Vance

Age - 62

February 25, 2023

Barbara A. Vance, age 62, of East Canton, Ohio, passed away peacefully in her home following a yearlong battle with glioblastoma on Sunday, February 5, 2023, with her devoted husband by her side. Barb was born December 15, 1960, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Bernard and Ann Taylor. She was a 1978 graduate of Louisville High School and married her high school sweetheart, Ron, in 1979. She worked for First American/Charter One Bank for the first half of her career, where she developed many friendships that would last a lifetime. For the past 20 years, she was employed by American Electric Power in various roles where she was known for her strong work ethic and company devotion. In her free time, Barb enjoyed mountain biking and motorcycle riding with her husband, as well as many other adventures they shared together over the years. Barb was a devoted mother and grandmother. She never missed a program, game, event, or ballet performance of her daughter or granddaughter and always encouraged them to excel in school, just as she did. Barb was also a caregiver. There was probably not a season of her life where she was not caring for an ill or aging family member or friend. Barb's battle with brain cancer was especially devastating for her family and friends to experience over the past year. Those who knew her, know that her intelligence, problem solving abilities, and deep knowledge of just about everything were some of her proudest and greatest strengths. Many of us will be lost without her wisdom and guidance. In addition to her parents, Barb is preceded in death by her in-laws, who were like parents, Ken and Louise Vance, Cousin Danny Vance and one brother, Keith Taylor. Barb is survived by her husband of 43 years, Ron; her only daughter, Amanda (Brian) Wycuff; and her only grandchild, Morgan Dale. She is also survived by two brothers, Kenny and Randy; nephews, Josh and Zac; nieces, Rachel and Shawnee; cousins, Neil (Becky), Gary (Tricia), Lori, Michael, Brian (Erica), Jeff (Savannah), Charlie, Veronica, Lincoln and Luke Vance. The family would like to thank the many friends who stepped in to drive her to daily radiation treatments and for their loving support that they gave Barb. Family will receive friends at Stier-Israel Funeral Home in Louisville from 5-7pm Thursday evening and 10-11am Friday morning. Funeral services will be 11am Friday morning at the funeral home. Barb will be laid to rest in Union Cemetery, Louisville, OH.
