Larry Bridges Sr Obituary

Larry Wayne Bridges Sr. , also known as "Big Larry," entered into his eternal home, surrounded by his family on May 3rd, 2023, at the age of 79 in Kenly, North Carolina. He was born on December 3rd, 1943, in Newport News, Virginia to Alonzo C. Bridges and Edna Bridges. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, brothers Jerry, Richard, Walter "W. C", Cleveland "Bubba", and sister Geraldine Miller. Larry was a beloved husband, father, and PawPaw to all. He was survived by his wife of 58 years, Patricia Ann Bridges, daughter Nancy Ann Davis (Perry) of Florida, son Larry Wayne Bridges Jr. of Hampton, grandsons Perry J. (PJ) Davis, Cody M. Davis, granddaughters Jessica N. Brown (Kyle), Tabitha Ann Peery, Grace Belle Bridges, Lucy Kay Bridges, great-grandsons Grayson Merrill Brown, Cooper Wayne Brown, sisters Mae Chalkley, Betty Lou Stephens (Fido), and multiple nieces and nephews. Larry graduated from Warwick High School in Newport News, Virginia. He retired in 2020 after working at Danny's Glass, Inc for over 45 years and was the owner of B&B Stump Grinding. Larry had a tremendous love for God and his family. He was extremely honest and always willing to help people in need. He was a hardworking man who supported his family. In his free time, he enjoyed bass fishing, collecting antique clocks, attending races at Langley Speedway, and being involved with his church. He worshiped at Faith Outreach Church in Hampton and Denbigh Church of God in Newport News. The family would like to express a special "Thank You" to the doctors, nurses and staff at Johnston UNC Memorial Hospital in Smithfield, NC, and Liberty Home Healthcare for all the compassion and kindness they gave PawPaw. The celebration of life for Larry will be officiated by his former Pastor, K. Edward (Eddie) White Jr. , on May 20th at 3 pm at Faith Outreach Church, 3105 W. Mercury Blvd, Hampton, VA 23666. The family will have a time for visitation following the service. Floral arrangements to be received between 1:30-2:30pm at Faith Outreach Church. The family is in the care of Kenly Funeral Service.
