Mrs. Laquita Normeice (Smith) King, 81, of Birch Tree, Missouri, formerly of Harrisburg, departed this life on September 26, 2023 after a short illness. She was born in Trumann, Arkansas on November 17, 1941 to John T. and Dora Faye (Canimore) Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Claudie Carl King. She is survived by her son, Michael (Tralice) King of New Orleans, LA, her daughter, Kem (Don) Ducote of Covington, LA, three grandchildren: Maggie (Ray) of Covington, LA, Christie (Nick) of College Station, Texas, and Allison of Covington, LA, and three great-grandchildren: Mackenzie, Millie, and Eleanor, one brother, Jerry (Mabel) Smith of Cherry Valley, AR and one sister, Donna (Lenny) Holliday of Cherry Valley, AR and one special friend, Earlene of Birch Tree, MO. Laquita loved to volunteer at the food pantry and local nursing homes. She was an avid gardener and loved to cook, can and preserve food. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 7, 2023 at 4:00 P. M. with visitation starting at 3:00 P. M. at Jackson's Funeral Home in Harrisburg, Arkansas. Mrs. Wanda Jane (Campbell) Heron of Mabelvale, Arkansas, departed this life on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at the age of 80. She was born July 26, 1943 in Strawberry, Arkansas, the daughter of Alfred and Pauline (Honeycutt) Campbell. On October 31, 1963, Miss Wanda Campbell was wed to Mr. Howard Lee Heron, and together they enjoyed 56 years. Mrs. Heron retired from St. Vincent Infirmary following 30 years of service, where she worked in childcare. She especially loved holding and loving on the babies at her job. Mrs. Heron enjoyed gardening on her scooter, and was an animal lover, especially cats and birds. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Howard Lee Heron; one sister, Carolyn Wilson; and her parents. Mrs. Heron is survived by one brother, Edward Campbell and wife, Jackie of Chandler, Oklahoma; one sister, Lynda Niesel and husband, David of Oklahoma; her sisters-in-law, Jan Williams and Lynda Pechoski; a host of nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of friends. Friends may visit at Jackson's Newark Funeral Home, Saturday, December 2, 2023, beginning at 1:00 p. m. Funeral services will follow at Jackson's Newark Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p. m. Saturday, with interment at Blue Springs Cemetery. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Kevin Smith, Noah Smith, J. T. Modica, Joe Pechoski, Eddie Chadwick, and Allen Modica. James Monroe Williams of Harrisburg, entered into the arms of Jesus on November 21, 2023 at home surrounded by his family. He was born July 8, 1937, in Harrisburg and had enjoyed 86 years of life. James married Evelyn Britnell on July 15, 1955, and they enjoyed 67 years together. He worked at The Bank of Harrisburg for 50 years, and developed many friendships with customers through those years. James was ``Papaw'' to the family and he loved family dinners, especially Nanny's desserts. James also enjoyed working on his cattle farm, serving his community in his work at the bank, church potlucks, trips to Mountain View with Evelyn, gospel singing, and an afternoon nap. He was a member of First Baptist Church Harrisburg for 55 years, where he served as Deacon. James was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Lura Williams, his wife, Evelyn, and his sister, Velma Jeane Bennett. James is survived by his two daughters: Vickie Morris (Keith) of Harrisburg and Pamela Harper (Scott) of Harrisburg, four grandchildren: Bridgette Loggains (Darryl) of Harrisburg, Jennifer Morris of Harrisburg, Jordan Harper (Sarah) of Harrisburg, and Kayla Pickney (Jaxon) of Highland, Arkansas, and four great-grandchildren: Ryce Loggains, Heather Loggains, Adalee Mink, and Tate Harper. He is also survived by his siblings: Frankie Parks of Jonesboro, Billy Joe Williams of Harrisburg, Juanita Carner of Lake City, Mary Ann Fortenberry and Tommy Williams of Harrisburg and Linda Williams of Leander, Texas. Funeral Services are set for Saturday, November 25, 2023 at 10:00 at Jackson's Funeral Home in Harrisburg. Interment will follow in Harrisburg Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. James Kelly Spence of Oil Trough, Arkansas departed this life on Monday, October 23, 2023, at the age of 82. He was born May 12, 1941, in Detroit City, Michigan, the son of Willie Samson and Dolly (Crabtree) Spence. Mr. Spence was a graduate of Oil Trough High School, where he loved playing sports and was a standout athlete. He and Norma were married on January 2, 1963, and enjoyed over 60 years together. Mr. Spence had a passion for attending and participating in drag racing at Newport Raceway. He was a self-employed farmer and enjoyed going to festivals and camping in Heber Springs. Mr. Spence was a member of the Jehovah's Witness Congregation of Newport, Arkansas. Most of all, Mr. Spence loved his family and friends, and cherished spending time with them. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Spence is survived by his wife, Norma Spence of Oil Trough; one son, Dennis Spence and wife, Shelly; one daughter, Kelly Henson and husband, William Scott Henson; one brother, Eugene Brian Spence; five grandchildren, Brandon Spence and wife, Kimberly, Shelden Spence, Ryleigh Spence, Skyler Henson, and Leanna Henson; and a lifetime of friends. Friends may visit at the funeral home Monday, 10:00 a. m. until 11:30 a. m. Graveside services will begin at noon at Coffeyville Cemetery.
