Lacinda "Cindy" Nadene Martin, age 65, of New Boston, Texas, went to be with the Lord on September 10, 2023. She was born to Max and Barbara Crim in Columbia, South Carolina on February 7, 1958, while Max was in the Army. Cindy spent her childhood on her parents' farm in Lazbuddie, Texas before moving to New Boston in 1992 where she and her husband, Robert, settled. Cindy spent her life taking care of her family and friends. Her passion in life was building and maintaining a strong family foundation while living life to the fullest. Cindy was a member of First Baptist Church - New Boston. She was preceded in death by her parents, Max and Barbara Crim; and her husband, Robert Martin. Her love will be carried on by her surviving family. She is survived by her children and their spouses: Brandy and Phillip Green, Brittany and Josh May, Bryce and Jessica Martin, and Baylee and Brayton Thomas. Cindy is also survived by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Dustyn, Brenna, Colt, and Hazelie Green; Sierra, Ryan, and Oakley Robertson; Mason and Payten May; Casen Gantt; Jayden and Addilyn Martin; and Blair and Blakely Thomas. Cindy's Visitation will be at Bates-Rolf Funeral Home from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, September 14, 2023. Funeral Services will be held at Bates-Rolf Funeral Home at 2:00 PM on Friday, September 15, 2023, with Rev. Rick Rothwell officiating. Interment will be at Read Hill Cemetery - New Boston following the service.

Carolyn Ann Jackson, 82, passed away on December 7, 2023. She was born on January 30, 1941, in DeQueen, Arkansas to Melissa and Archie Johnson. Carolyn was a member of Antioch Christian Church in Hooks, Texas, and she enjoyed spending most of her free time participating in the church. She was a caretaker of her late husband and loved spending time with her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Doyle Jackson, her parents, and one sister, Kay Wells. Survivors include her children, Jeff Jackson, and Leigh Ann Hagenbuch and husband Jon; six grandchildren, Emma Jackson, Jeremy Hagenbuch and wife Courtney, Misty Trevino and husband Gonzalo, Thomas Hagenbuch and wife Kaylin, John Nelson and wife Lauren, and Jacob Hagenbuch; numerous great-grandchildren; one brother, Lawrence Johnson; one sister, Claudette Roberts; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Norma Cleo Saxon Taylor went home to be with the Lord, December 3, 2023. She was born in DeKalb, Texas to Clarence and Ola Saxon on July 17, 1927. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 69 years Ray Taylor, daughter Gail Horn, siblings Mary Provence, Virginia Cameron, Ann Sheridan, Barbara Snider, and George Saxon. She is survived by her brother Clarence Ray Saxon; children Pam Smith of Maud, Texas, Norman (Nadine) Taylor of Maud, Texas, and Jeannie (Ricky Jones) Tittle of Maud, Texas; nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; one great great-grandson; along with a number of relatives and friends. The funeral service will be held on Friday, December 8, 2023, graveside at Chapelwood Memorial Garden at 2:00 PM with Brother Shannon Doyen officiating. Virginia "Ginger" Jones a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great great-grandmother passed away at the age of 97 on November 13, 2023. Virginia was born on December 25, 1925 and has spent her life devoted to her family. She will be forever missed. She is preceded in death by her husband of 77 years, Merrell Theodore "Ted" Jones, Jr. ; her brothers, Thomas, Kenneth, Robert and Edwin McElroy, and her sister, Jodie Blandi. She is survived by her son, Kenneth Jones and wife Helen of Yantis, Texas; her daughter, Carol Miller and husband Doug of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; grandchildren, Ken Jones Jr. and wife Niecy; Mike Jones and wife ruth, Virginia "Jennie" Hilliard and husband Jeff and Melissa Valiquette and husband Jay; 12 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Chapelwood Funeral Home in Nash, Texas. Linda Rhodes

Age - 74

Loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Linda Sue Rhodes, passed away on November 24th after a short battle with pneumonia. Linda was 74 and was surrounded by many loving family members when she passed. Linda was born to Ruth Cornett and Tyrie Talmadge Dumas on October 8, 1949, in Texarkana, TX. She and Mike Rhodes were joined in marriage on June 6, 1975. Together, they raised five children who would bless her with seventeen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Heaven on earth was to spend her days surrounded by family, laughter, and long stories while playing cards or sipping on coffee. Being a wife, mother, and granny was the most important part of Linda's life, a role that gave her much pride and joy. Linda was fiercely dedicated to her family. Always ready to stand up and protect those she loved, never shy to speak her mind. She was our biggest cheerleader and our constant supporter. Our family would not be where it is today if we didn't have Linda in our lives. Now that Linda has passed into the arms of our Lord, we should remind ourselves that while this is the end of Linda's physical life on Earth, it's the beginning of an eternal and beautiful journey for her. May she find eternal waters to fish to her heart's content, and be in the embrace of all those who've anxiously awaited her arrival. Linda joins her parents, Ruth and Talmadge; her brother, Jerry Dumas; and grandson Isaac Turner in Heaven. She is survived by many loving family members, including her husband, Mike; her brother Ricky Don Dumas; her children, Melissa, Russell, Kevin, Michael, and George; sixteen grandchildren and six great-children. Ronald Wayne Baker, age 53, of New Boston, Texas passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2023. Mr. Baker was born on January 5, 1970, in Texarkana, Texas to Donald and Martha Baker. He was Agent with Humana for many years and enjoyed serving the people of Southwest Arkansas. He was also a talented chef. Ronald was a man who was beloved by all. His family will tell you that he was incredibly smart, kind, and possessed a calming presence. Ronald is preceded in death by his father and his grandparents. Ronald is survived by his wife, Jeanette Baker; his mother, Martha, his brother, David; his sister, Kay; his children; and numerous other relatives and friends. Angie Whitlock passed away Thursday, November 16, 2023 at her home in New Boston, Texas. She was 76. Angie was born September 25, 1947 in De Kalb, Texas to Clayton R. And Helen Merriman Whittle. She retired from Red River Army Depot as an Electronic Integrated System Mechanic. Angie was a member of Rock Creek Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Joe P. Whitlock, Sr. of New Boston, Texas; two sons and daughters-in-law, Joe Jr. and Carie Whitlock of Princeton, Texas and Brett and Penny Whitlock of Malta, Texas; one brother and sister-in-law, Carroll and Betty Whittle of De Kalb, Texas; four grandchildren, Justin Scales and his wife, Ashley, Conner Whitlock, Colten Whitlock, and Ashlyn Yates and her husband, Kenny; two great grandchildren, Gus Yates and Beau Yates; and numerous other relatives and friends. A celebration of life will be11:30 A. M. Sunday, November 26, 2023 at Rock Creek Baptist Church in Maud, Texas. Cremation carried out under the direction of Bates Family Funeral Home. Agnes Lorene Cross was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world on November 19, 2023, to be with her Lord and Savior. She left peacefully in the residence of her daughter surrounded by her family. She was born to Vernie and Mildred Webb on March 31, 1939. After graduating salutatorian of her High School class, she married David Cross, her husband of 63 years. David left this world only a year ago November 8, 2022. They worked together building a flourishing business, Cross Construction, in which she was the interior designer. They have two surviving daughters Pam Dennis, Janet Cox, her husband Craig Cox, three grandchildren Brooke Neal, Lindsey Wilmoth, and Matthew Cox, and three great grandchildren Jaxson Hudson, Chase Neal, and Landon Lafferty. Mrs. Cross was preceded in death by her sisters Naomi Ethridge, Pauline Palmari, and Wanda Taylor, and two brothers Kenneth Davis, and Gerald Davis. She was survived by her Brother-in-law and sister-in-laws Gary and Brenda Cross, John and Glenda Cross, and Mary and Dave Clark. She was very active in her church, Trinity Baptist, serving on the Hospitality Committee, writing a newsletter for the senior adults, and serving as the Leader of the Homebound Ministry and was diligent about visiting them in the hospital, Nursing Home, or their home. She always carried them goodies and made sure they knew someone loved them and was thinking of them. She loved her family, shopping, decorating, and entertaining. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of her life and she loved spoiling them. She made each one feel special. Services will be under the direction of Texarkana Funeral Home Friday, November 24, 2023 at 10:00 with graveside following at Concord Cemetery. In Loving Memory of Barbara Evelyn "Memaw" StevensEvelyn Stevens, died on November 18, 2023, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born on September 23, 1935, in Ore City, Texas, Evelyn's journey was one of faith, family, and the simple joys that come from a life well-lived. Evelyn was a devoted member of Everett Baptist Church, where her spirit of kindness and fellowship endeared her to the congregation. A dedicated homemaker, she filled her home with warmth, love, and the laughter of those she held dear. Beyond her domestic pursuits, Evelyn found joy and camaraderie on the bowling lanes, earning a special place in the hearts of fellow bowlers through her enthusiasm and skill. She was also an avid card player and was without mercy at the card table, but she was never a proud winner or sore loser. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband and best friend of 58 years, Bernard Stevens, her son, Jay Stevens, daughter, Gail Snyder, great-granddaughter, Anna Gerber, grandson, Chris Baker, grandson, John David Carter, great-grandson, Jacob Carter, and her cherished friend, Joy Roberts. Evelyn is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Bill Carter of Texarkana, AR, and her son and daughter-in-law, Wylie and Dawna Stevens of Kingman, AZ. She is also survived by her sisters, Aletta Riley of Ore City, Texas, and Melva Parker of Hooks, Texas. Evelyn's legacy extends through her four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, one great-great-grandson, as well as the countless friends who were touched by her kindness and grace. She was called Evelyn by her friends and Memaw by her grandchildren who held a special place in her heart. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation at Chapelwood Funeral Home on Kings Highway in Nash, Texas, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on November 21, 2023. A graveside service, officiated by Reverend Roy Ford, will be held at Everett Baptist Church cemetery in Hooks, Texas, on November 22, 2023, at 10:00 AM. The family will be available to receive condolences at Mrs. Stevens' residence. James Ray Francis, 83, was born on September 27, 1940. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Linda; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl Kelley (Gary), Tessa Ray (Rodney). James had two grandsons, Jacob Edwards and Matthew Ray (Nicole), and one great-grandson, Wyatt Ray. James had one brother, Dick Francis (Sandy). He was preceded in death by his son, Bob Clark; sister, Judy Womack; and parents, Madeline and Jimmy Francis. James had a loving extended family and many wonderful friends. An outdoorsman, James loved to hunt and fish, and being at his hunt club was his favorite place to be. He enjoyed telling stories and was always up for a good practical joke on unsuspecting friends and family. James was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church and an army veteran. He retired from GTE and enjoyed a second career as a contract engineer for various phone companies. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Highland Park Baptist Church or Dierksen Hospice. Gwen Estill

Gwendolyn Ann Estill, born in Dublin, Texas on September, 3,1943 entered eternal life on Friday, November 10, 2023, at Cornerstone Retirement Community Center. Gwen is preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie and Annie Crystal Gray, and one infant brother, Lonnie Wendell Gray. She is survived by her daughter, Angela Melde, grandchildren, John Harris Melde and Anna Katherine LeFevre (husband Chance, son, Tripp) as well as her brother, Dwain Gray (wife Susan, children Dusty, Daric, Dylan, Danielle, and Kristen) sister, Dottie Knudson, (husband Butch, children Jill and Jana) and sister Cynthia Hunt, (husband Troy, children, Crystal and Trenton). Gwen gave generously of her time, money, and talent for the benefit of others. She served on the East Texas Baptist Board of Trustees for 25 years and served 2 years at the Texas Baptist General Convention. Since 1977, she worked faithfully with the First Baptist Church Women's Missionary Union and served as Director of the Bowie Baptist Association. She was a member of the Mission Committee at First Baptist Church where she loved finding ways to share the Gospel. For 39 years, she sang joyfully every Sunday in FBC choir. Gwen loved ministering to young people and directed the youth at First Baptist for 16 years, then went on to be the director of the singles class for another 30 years. As the director, she opened her home to meals, Bible Study, and socials and called each member Saturday night to remind them of Sunday morning Sunday School. She devoted twenty years to the Home Bound Ministry where she ministered to the sick and those in nursing homes. Gwen's heart for missions also extended outside the church. She worked on the committee to start the Friendship Center and faithfully served for 25 years. She was honored this year for her 16 years of work and service with the Telford Prison Ministries. Gwen's life will be celebrated Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church Texarkana on Moores Lane. She will be laid to rest beside her parents in Hico, Texas.
