Daniel Leslie Morgan Payne, 86, of Wardensville, WV, died on Friday, September 8, 2023, at his home. Morgan was born on October 12, 1936, in Wardensville, WV, the son of the late Daniel L. and Catherine Henderson Payne. Morgan was a veteran in the United States Army serving in the Korean War, worked for 43 years as a mail carrier in Wardensville, and 25 years at ABEX in Winchester, VA. He loved cars with shiny wheels and was particular about the cleanliness of his vehicles. He was a collector of model cars, and was a NASCAR fan especially Dale Earnhardt, Sr. , and Jimmy Johnson. Morgan enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time with his family. Morgan married Carol Lockhart on December 24, 1988, in Winchester, VA. Surviving with his wife of 34 years is a daughter: Jillyn Payne and step-daughter: Kimberly Whitacre both of Winchester, VA; three step-sons: Gordan Whitacre (Joyce) of Bloomery, WV; Allen Whitacre (Pamela Sue) of Hedgesville, WV; Glen Whitacre of Tampa, FL; five grandchildren: Deion & DeVonte Walker, Laura & Sarah Eagan; step-grandson: Nathan Whitacre; six great-grandchildren: Miliana Walker, Jacoby & Aubrey Long; Layla & Lilyana Roles; a special cousin: Norman Grandison of Wardensville, WV. Morgan was previously married to Jillyn's mother; Joan Payne of Berryville, VA. Morgan is preceded in death by a step great-granddaughter: Elynnie Long. Funeral service will be held at the Loy-Giffin Funeral Home & Crematory in Wardensville, WV on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at 11:00 AM. Officiating will be Pastor Kent Woodward. Interment will follow in the Alum-Bank Cemetery, Wardensville, WV. Military honors will be accorded by the United States Army. Dustin Taylor Childs, 36, of Wardensville, WV, died on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at the Winchester Medical Center. Dustin was born on March 19, 1987, in York, PA and was raised by Lucy Thayer and Carliee Childs. Dustin had several professions that he dabbled in. Anything to do with his hands he enjoyed. He worked as a millwright, a handyman, an assistant chef and more recently with his brother-in-law for Twiggs Heating and Air Conditioning located in Wardensville. Dustin was a social member of the VFW Post # 2102, a volunteer at the food pantry both located in Wardensville. He enjoyed all things to do with the outdoors like hiking, camping, exploring caves, bushcrafting, holistic medicine and martial arts. He is survived by his son Storm Taylor Childs; his sister Lisa Twigg and husband Jon all of Wardensville, WV; his three nieces: Haley, Bella and Ava Twigg and numerous other family and friends. A covered dish celebration of Dustin's life will be held on December 10, 2023, at the Wardensville War Memorial Building, 190 E Main St, Wardensville, WV 26851 at 2 PM. All are welcome to attend. William L. "Lloyd" Lovely, 84, of Wardensville, WV, died on Friday, October 27, 2023, at the E. A. Hawse Nursing & Rehab Center in Baker, WV. Lloyd was born on November 3, 1938, in Webster County, WV, the son of the late Joseph George Lovely and Naomi Hamilton Lovely. He was a member of the Living Church of God in Winchester, VA. William loved the outdoors where he enjoyed hunting and fishing and growing on the Elk River. Lloyd was married to Barbara Biddle Lovely. Barbara died on October 31, 2002. Surviving are three sisters: Irene Williams of Ohio; Pauline Messer of Webster Springs, WV and Nancy Bruffy of Beverly, WV; a dear friend: Patt Bruffy of Webster Springs, WV and his dear church family in Winchester, VA. Ronald Maurice "Ron" Strosnider, 75, of Wardensville, WV, died on Friday, October 20, 2023 at the Winchester Medical Center. Ron was born on December 21, 1947 in Winchester, VA, the son of the late Wilbur J. and Nevaline Vincent Strosnider. He attended James Wood High School, Nashville Auto Diesel College and James Rumsey Technical School. He was a mechanic all of his life and there wasn't anything he couldn't fix. Ron worked for Rubbermaid Commercial Products, Simbeck, Inc. and owned & operated Ron's Chevron in Wardensville. He was a member of the Capon Valley Vol. Fire Department having served for 37 years and the Wardensville United Methodist Church serving as a Trustee. Ron had a love of hunting, fishing and taking his grandchildren hunting. He belonged to the Half Moon Hunt Club. One of his hobbies was racing. Whether he was behind the wheel street racing, turning wrenches or watching his favorite NASCAR driver, Dale Earnhart on Sundays. He loved being apart of it. He grew up around the Winchester Speedway helping and competing. Later in life, he was back at his roots when he loved helping his son, Joey, during his short racing term. His favorite past time was spending time with his family, especially his great-grandchildren and going to all of his grandchildren's ball games. His greatest joy was spending time with the love of his life, Pam. Ron married Pamela D. "Pam" Strosnider on May 13, 1978 in Alexandria, VA. Surviving with his wife of 45 years is a son: Joseph C. "Joey" Strosnider of Wardensville, WV; a daughter: Lisa A. Orndorff of Mathias, WV; a son-in-law: Michael Coffman of Wardensville, WV; two sisters: Donna McFarland of Yellow Spring, WV; Dianne Garber of Stephens City, VA and six grandchildren. Shirley enjoyed music,reading her books and was a valuable greeter at the Loy-Giffin Funeral Home in Wardensville. Shirley married Ray O. Brill on August 23, 1952, in Winchester, VA. Landis, Sr. and Madge R. Miller Landis. Teresa worked for Shentel Telecommunications, and enjoyed going to the beach, listening to music, specifically the band Chicago, and loved her dogs, especially Patches. Teresa married Donald R. Edmonds on March 2, 1986, in Columbia Furnace, VA. Surviving with her husband of 37 years are two daughters: Rebecca Sanchez & Harmony M. Edmonds both of Winchester, VA; a brother: Harmon A. Landis, Jr (Megan) of Stephens City, VA; two sisters: Holly Landis of Wardensville, WV; Patty Carson of Alexandria, VA; and all her grandchildren whom she adored. Charles Dwight Lee, 80, of Delray, WV, passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family and under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle. Dwight was born on May 5, 1943 in Delray, WV, the son of the late Melvin E. and Fannie B. Rudy Lee. His love of working began at a very young age when he accompanied his father up on the mountain to cut timber. Later, he worked for Southern States for 19 1/2 years, retired from Lupton Logging and Pulpwood in 2008. He was a man of many talents. He enjoyed pitching horseshoes, watching WVU basketball, betting the horses, and scratching lottery tickets. He leaves behind in the hearts of his children and grandchildren, his love of baseball and the New York Yankees. Dwight married Marsha Lupton Lee on October 8, 1965, in Cumberland, MD. Surviving with his wife of nearly 58 years are his four children: Jimmy Lee (Michele), Lori Houchens (Joe), Leslie Tingler, and Lindsay Miller (Mike); nine grandchildren: Brittany Griffith, Kevin Lee, Michael, Ryan, Chris and Jeff Houchens, Jared Tingler, and Kayla and Kerra Miller; three great grandchildren: Rhylee & Lincoln Griffith and Aryella Houchens; three sisters: Ruby Hall, Libby & Polly Lee and several nieces & nephews. Dwight is preceded in death by his son-in-law: Eric Tingler and his four brothers: Harlan, Carl, Bob, and Jim Lee.
