Sam B. Furr, Jr. , 49, passed away Wednesday in the company of his loving family. Sam was the son of Roxanne Horne Furr of Richburg and the late Sam B. Furr, Sr. He is also survived by; 2 daughters, Mikayla Sullivan (Anthony Griffith) of Ft. Lawn, Abigail Furr (Seth Morrow) of Chester; 1 brother, Alan Leonard of York; 2 sisters, Kimberly McManus (Chad) of Monroe, Kelly Pressley (Britt) of Richburg; 4 grandchildren. Colton, Amelah and Layken Griffith, Tinsley Mullis; 1 niece, Alexis Johnson (Dion Cousar); 7 nephews, Colby Johnson (Kaylee Bryant), Aiden Pressley, Michael and Bryson Leonard, Slayden Bailey, Trevor Jackson, Dwayne Vaughn; grandparents, Robert Lee Horne (Pam), Gregory Meyer both of Richburg; his fiancee, Mandy Jackson of Lancaster. Sam was preceded in death by his grandparents, Patricia Meyer, Baxter and Geneva Furr. Sam was a sign fabricator for Pattison Sign Group in Heath Springs, a Baptist, and an avid Clemson Tiger fan. He also loved dirt track racing, the Atlanta Braves and spending time with his family. In lieu of flowers the family suggests Agape Care of SC, 1326 Ebenezer Rd, Rock Hill, SC 29732 Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 p. m. Friday at Pollard Funeral Home. Pastor Jimmy Jordan will conduct the funeral service at 2:00 p. m. Saturday December 2, 2023 at Emanuel Baptist Church in Ft. Lawn. The burial will be in the cemetery of Mt. Kenneth Leon Clayton, 87, passed away Tuesday in Piedmont Medical Center. He was born in Duncan, SC to the late Ernest L. and Azilee Mobley Clayton. He was the husband of Audrey Blair Clayton. Also surviving are two sons, Terry Lee Clayton of Blackstock and Lonnie Dale Clayton of Flatwoods, KY; one brother, Thomas Earl Clayton (Kathleen) of Chester; two sisters, Mildred Branham (Lawrence) of Chester and Merle Brantley of Rock Hill. Mr. Clayton was a retired electrical engineer and a veteran of the U. S. Navy. The funeral service will be conducted by Dr. Ted Hodges, 2:00 p. m. Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Richburg First Baptist Church. The burial will be private at Chester Memorial Gardens.Show more

He is also survived by two sons, Abel, Jr. and Isaac; one step son Ray Palmer, Jr. (Laura); two brothers, Armando and Enrique; two sisters, Hermelinda and Maria and a number of grandchildren. Carolyn Lashley Brantley, 84, passed away at her home on November 22, 2023. Mrs. Brantley was the widow of Douglas Martin Brantley and the daughter of the late William T. & Doris Noah Lashley. She is survived by three sons, Steve Brantley (Susan) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Brad Brantley (Lorraine) of Charlotte, NC, and Roger Brantley (Bonnie) of Chester; 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Royce Lashley. Mrs. Brantley was retired from The Chester Telephone Company (now TruVista) and a member of First Baptist Church of Chester. Reverend Clay Waldrip will conduct the memorial service, 1 o'clock p. m. , Saturday, November 25th in the chapel of Pollard Funeral Home. Visitation will follow the memorial service. The Directors of Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home are caring for the family. A funeral service to honor her life will be held at 3 o'clock on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Bishopville with The Rev. Denise Seymour officiating. The family will receive friends at a reception in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service. A burial will be held at 11 o'clock on Thursday, November 30, 2023, in Evergreen Cemetery, 141 Cemetery Street, Chester, SC, with the assistance of the Directors of Pollard Funeral Home, 115 York Street, Chester, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her honor to Bethlehem United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 167, Bishopville, SC 29010. Ms. Carter was born in Chicago, Illinois, on January 12, 1935, the daughter of the late Perry True Carter and the late Sara Kirkpatrick Carter. For 30 years, Carol taught school in Virginia, Connecticut, and Raleigh, North Carolina, where she was Teacher of the Year in 1968. Carol was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir and had perfect attendance in Sunday School for more than 22 years.Show more
