Kristine M Knox, 33, of Plainfield passed away unexpectedly on September 7, 2023. She was born in Putnam Connecticut on Aug 2,1990, a daughter to Karen (LeFevre) and Gilbert Gervais. Kristine was a loving young lady. She had a smile that brightened up the room. She loved being an Auntie to her niece Ava. Kristine was a mother hen ever since she was a child. She loved her sister Michelle and they had a special bond. She was the apple of her father's eye. They also shared a special bond. Kristine was a gift giver and she always put a lot of thought into the gifts she presented. She was loved by many and she will be greatly missed. She had a long-term relationship with Tyler Taft and she loved him very much. She leaves behind a Grandfather Gilbert J. Gervais that loved her very deeply and also an Uncle Gary Justice who she always had a special bond with. We have many family memories that I will cherish forever. I will miss her. Kristine had many Aunts and Uncles, cousins that were dear to her. And many friends who are considered as part of the family. She is at peace now with her brother Gilbert Leo Gervais. She loved him and looked up to him and when he passed, she struggled through life missing him. Now she's with him again and I hope they are happy and smiling down on us. Sterling - Sharon L. Deojay, 77, of Porter Pond Rd, Sterling, died at Sunday, December 3, 2023, surrounded by the warmth of her family in the comfort of her home. She was the loving wife of the late Roger Deojay Sr. Born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, she was the daughter of the late Leonard E Watson Sr. and Marion (Johnson) Watson. After dedicating her time to being a loving mother and homemaker, Sharon took on a few different careers after her children had grown. In addition to working for The Plainfield Dog Track and Jacobs Rubber, she spent many years employed by Frito-Lay as a product inspector and packer. In her younger years Sharon enjoyed singing, playing on women's softball and bowling leagues. Later on she developed a love of long walks that often would result in window shopping or a nice place to stop for lunch. Trips to Cape Cod were among her favorites, though above all, she enjoyed spending time with her loving family and friends. Sharon is survived by her two daughters, Sheri Keech and husband Michael of Brooklyn, CT and Stephanie Griffin of Colorado; her son Roger Deojay Jr. and his wife Angela of Sterling; and her Aunt, Phillis Watson. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Brandon Deojay, Cody Trudeau, Roger Deojay III, Hailey Piatek, Hailey Deojay and Evan Keech; two great grandchildren, Leighton and Alex Trudeau. along with several nieces and nephews. Sophie Evelyn (Zurowski) LaFlesh, 91, died peacefully on November 28, 2023, at Colonial Health and Rehab. Sophie was born on December 30, 1931, to Frances (Pruchnik) and Frank Zurkowski in Moosup, CT. She was predeceased by her husband Adelard (Flip) LaFlesh, her siblings, Walter, Charles, Anthony, Henry, Harry, Louis, and Stasia. She was also predeceased by her granddaughter, Tracy Jean LaFlesh. Sophie is lovingly remembered by her 6 children, Adele Tarkowski and husband Lloyd Salisbury, CarolAnn Brodeur and husband Robert, Thomas LaFlesh and wife Barbara, Margaret Aalberg and husband Alexander, Elizabeth DeMarco and husband David, Timothy LaFlesh and wife Christine. She was also blessed with 13 grandchildren: Rob, Julie (Tom), Daniel (Linda), Thomas (Heidi), Adam (Jessica), Eva, Molly (Will), Kristi, Karrie (Jamie), Alex (Dana), David (Michelle), Michael (Jessica), Gabrielle, and 24 great grandchildren. Sophie was a faithful communicant of St. John the Apostle Church in Plainfield, CT. She attended All Hallows School and Plainfield High School. Sophie and Adelard began their married life together in 1948. Through her faith, love, and extraordinary talents, she devoted her life to her family. She was an expert seamstress, culinary, craft, and fiber artist. Sophie was employed at Electro-Motive Manufacturing Company and Rogers Corporation in Windham, CT. She was also a Studio Girl Cosmetics representative. In 1980, Sophie accomplished her lifelong goal and opened "The Whisper Shop", a craft supply and instruction boutique. Caring for her family was most important to Sophie. She will always be remembered for creating festive Christmas celebrations, happy Halloween gatherings, picnics at Hopeville Pond, trips to Rocky Point Park, sewing, knitting, and crafting lessons. Her Faith and unconditional love encompassed her daily life; Her life is an inspiration to her family. Michael D. Rodman1958 - 2023Griswold - Michael D. Rodman, 65, of Stone Hill Road, died surrounded with love by those that loved him on November 11, 2023, at W. W. Backus Hospital, after being stricken at home. He was the loving life partner of Linda Breen for forty-four years. Born in Norwich, Connecticut, he was the son of the late William L. Rodman and Eleanor (Podolski) Rodman. After serving in the navy, Mike worked as a self-employed craftsman. Skilled in a variety of trades, he worked mainly in carpentry for many years. He also enjoyed working at Brower's Cove Marina where he was able to combine work & his love of the ocean. Mike enjoyed working with his hands, crafting ukuleles from trees cut down, dulcimers and cigar box ukuleles just to name a few things. He was also an avid outdoorsman, spending his time boating on Long Island Sound, fishing and clamming with friends and loved ones. Mike was a man that could use his mind as well as his hands. He was a self-taught man, a man's man, always looking like he just came in from a windy day. He didn't apologize for enjoying life and being himself. Mike was loved and respected by many and will be greatly missed. Cecile Jeannine (Farland), (Fortin) Bachmann, wife to Lewis H. Bachmann, died on November 26, 2023 at home surrounded by family. Arrangements are through Dougherty Brothers, Plainfield, Ct. She was born December 18, 1933 in Plainfield CT to Albert and Philomene Farland. Cecile attended St. John Elementary School and graduated from Plainfield High School in 1951. In 1955, she married Gerard Fortin, now deceased. She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Lewis Bachmann and her children: Debra Fortin Skrajewski (Dennis), Pewaukee, Wisconsin, Michael Fortin (Deborah), Exeter, Rhode Island, Robert Fortin (Patricia), Plainfield, Connecticut and Mark Fortin (Cheryl) Boise, Idaho. She has 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. A life-long communicant of St. John Church, she sang in the choir, and was very active in the Lady of Fatima Rosary Guild for more than 50 years in various roles including President and Chairman of the Annual Christmas Bazaar. During her life she worked as a weaver in Baltic Mills, Baltic, CT and in the office at American Thread in Willimantic, CT. She was best known for managing the Plastic Wire and Cable Credit Union in Jewett City, CT. Family was very important to her and she loved any family gathering no matter how large. Christmas was a favorite time for her, decorating and cooking for the holidays. She was active with the Plainfield Senior Center Chorus, participating in their annual productions. Cecile found consolation during the final weeks of her life by continuously holding a wooden 'comfort cross', made of olive wood from Jerusalem. The family's goal is to coordinate with the Ladies Guild to purchase 100+ comfort crosses to donate to Hospice to ease the journey for future patients who may want one. He was born on September 16, 1944, a son to the late Alice (Lefebvre)and William Blakeley. He is survived by his loving wife, Cindy (Morrisette) Blakeley. Gilbert was a gentle soul with an optimistic outlook on life. He would find joy in the simplestthings and would exceed in extending his happiness to all around. Gilbert was previously amember of Atwood Hose Fire Company and was a well respected employee at AmericanStandard for over twenty years. In his free time, Gilbert enjoyed being in the company of hisfamily, swimming in the pool, riding his tractor, and flying his airplanes when he could. Aboveall, he enjoyed spending time with his wife Cindy. He and his wife Cindy have been married for42 years. Anthony Dombkowski of 163 Geer Road, Griswold died on November 12, 2023 after a years-long struggle with Parkinson disease. Anthony was born on February 24, 1938 and was a lifelong resident of Griswold Connecticut. He attended Griswold High School and later proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. He worked as a pipefitter and welder his entire career, working on submarines and large construction projects along the east coast. Anthony participated in local politics for a time and was very active in local social organizations. He most recently served as Deacon at St. Mary, Our Lady of the Rosary Parish. Anthony is predeceased by his daughter Wendy Martin, parents Helen and Stanley and his brother William and his spouse Bernice. He is survived by his brother Edward and his spouse Beverly, his former wife, Juliette (Tetreault) Dombkowski, his children; Michael and his spouse Erin, Mark and his spouse Debbie, Lori Roode and her spouse John, and Matthew and his spouse Kerry; son-in-law Stephen Martin and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Anthony also leaves his loving and devoted friend Indigo Young. Timothy Scott Knight, 57, of Plainfield, CT, passed away unexpectedly on November 5, 2023. He was born on January 15, 1966, in Westerly, R. I. Timothy was a very kind soul who spent a lot of his time helping others and bringing joy to their day. His light-hearted nature and sense of humor could instantly uplift anyone's mood. He had a passion for playing darts, pool, and horseshoes, and was known for his unbeatable skills. In his younger years, he was part of a dart league. An outdoorsy person, Timothy loved taking care of his lawn and spending time outside. He enjoyed camping and fishing, immersing himself in nature. Football was his all-time favorite sport, and he was a dedicated fan of the Cowboys. Timothy cherished his family life, which he built with his loving wife, Joann Bourey, and their four children. He also adored his nine grandchildren and had a fatherly vibe that extended beyond his own children. Timothy is survived by his wife, Joann Bourey, his four stepchildren, Son-Richard Bourey, his children Bradley,Skye, Maddy and Abby, Daughter-Christine Levesque,Her husband Travis ,children- Sierra Jesus Jr and Penelope.
