It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ms. Kirtsey Ann McCool, 82. Kirtsey passed away on October 04, 2023 at Forest Manor Health and Rehab. Services for Kirtsey will be held October 7, 2023 at Crossroads Missionary Baptist Church, 396 Crossroads Church Road, Gordo, Alabama 35466. Visitation will be held AT 10:00 a. m. with Graveside service beginning at 11:00 a. m. Reverend Chris Whittaker will preside. Burial will follow immediately after in the church cemetery. Kirtsey was preceded in death by her parents Tessie and Tyler Junkin, sister Nellie Shelton, and the father of her two children, Tommy McCool. She is survived by her daughter Pam McCool Blackwood (Jerry), her son Michael McCool (DeAnna), four grandchildren, Dakota Allen (Russell), Jade Renfroe (Drew), Michael McCool and Maxwell McCool, four great-grandchildren, Jonah Klipstine, Peyton Renfroe, Wren Allen and Levi Renfroe, and her two sisters Mildred Carver and Dorothy Hamilton. Kirtsey spent the majority of her career in nursing. She started nursing as an LPN and later earned her degree becoming a Registered Nurse. She retired from Pickens County Medical in 2011 and moved to Northport where she enjoyed her retirement living at Presbyterian Apartments. Kirtsey and her sister, Mildred, lived side by side and enjoyed every day of retirement together. Kirtsey will be remembered for her nurturing heart, kindness, and unwavering love for her family. Pallbearers will be Michael McCool, Maxwell McCool, Russell Allen, Chad Stephens, Jeremy Stephens and Ralph Cabaniss. Honorary pallbearers are Sheila Cabaniss, the staff and residents of Presbyterian Apartments, and Five Points Baptist Church. "Her Smile" Though her smile is gone forever, and her hand we cannot touch, we still have many memories of the one we loved so much. Your memory is our keepsake, which we will never part. God has you in his keeping, we have you in our heart.
