Kent Beavers, 74 of Kearney, formerly of Elm Creek passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at the Central Nebraska Veterans Home in Kearney. Graveside services will be 1:00 p. m. Saturday, June 25, 2022 at Elm Creek Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Elm Creek American Legion Post #316 in conjunction with the Nebraska National Guard Funeral Honors Team. Those attending are requested to wear casual attire. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Condolences may be shared online at www. osrfh. com . Services are entrusted to O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral and Cremation Services. Kent was born February 1, 1948 in Kearney, Nebraska to Orval and Verla (Fox) Beavers. He was raised in Elm Creek and attended Elm Creek High School, graduating with the class of 1966. Kent went on to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. In 1969, Kent was united in marriage to Marylin Journey in Elm Creek. To this union three sons were blessed; Joel, Darin and Eric. The couple later divorced. Kent proudly served in the U. S. Army from August 13, 1969 until his honorable discharge on May 14, 1971. He spent much of his time in Vietnam where he was awarded a Purple Heart, and a Bronze Star among many other accommodations. He managed several Alfalfa DeHy Plants for CBI. Kent was a longtime employee of West Pharmaceuticals where he retired after many years of employment. Kent enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and tending to his garden. He was an avid Husker fan and loved attending his grandchildren's many sporting events and spending time with his family. Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Joel (Angie) Beavers of Overton, Darin (Alicia) Beavers of Elm Creek and Eric Beavers of Elm Creek; grandchildren, Madison and Mackenzie Beavers, Kaden Foote, Keston and Branson Beavers; sister, Connie Sutherland of Elm Creek; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
