Virginia Carol Lakey, 81, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 with her husband and grandson by her side. She was a beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Friend, and Wife. Virginia was born to Robert Kiser and Florence Wolford in Fort Knox, Kentucky. She Graduated High School from Tombstone Union High School in Tombstone, Arizona. She Attended Western New Mexico University before moving to Texas where she graduated with a nursing degree from Midwestern State University. Virginia worked as a nurse in the operating room at Wichita Falls General Hospital for over 20 years. She worked as an assistant to Dr. Bates and retired from United Regional Healthcare System working in the quality control department. In 1995 Virginia volunteered her knowledge and skills for humanitarian purposes with Dr. Mustafa in the Middle East. She was a member of the AORN (Association of periOperative Registered Nurses) and a past president of the Senior - Junior Forum. Virginia married Shawn Lakey on June 6, 1979 in Sierra Vista, Arizona. They enjoyed traveling, and bonded over their love for desert landscapes and plants. Virginia was an avid reader, enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, and spending time with her dogs. Virginia touched the lives of many no matter the size of the interaction. She worked hard, and could make a big impression with a small amount of time. She was loving, dependable, funny, and caring. She was the best. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Kiser; her mother, Florence Wolford; and her sister, Laura Kiser. She is survived by her husband Shawn Lakey; her two daughters, Lauralee Gilbert and husband Jerry, Deanna Hall; her grandson Coleman Hall; and many cherished and beloved friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Tuesday December 12 at Saint Marks Global Methodist Church, 4319 McNiel Ave, Wichita Falls, TX 76308. Flowers may be sent to this location.Show more

Maxine Mae Holland 98, of Wichita Falls, Texas, passed away on November 21 2023. She was born May 25, 1925 in Bennet, Nebraska to Andrew and Anne Rodaway. Maxine grew up on a farm and graduated from Hickman, Nebraska High School in 1943. She married Richard Daniel Spomer in November of 1944. Dick preceded her in death on December 21, 1991. The couple moved from place to place with Dick's business, eventually purchasing Wichita Poster in 1972, which became Spomer Outdoor Advertising. Maxine was involved locally with National MS Society. She was involved in the political campaigns of Governor Ann Richards and State Representative John J. Gavin. She also owned Spomer Travel Service. In February of 1996 Maxine married George Holland and moved to Horseshoe Bay, TX. After George preceded her in death on May, 24, 2019, Maxine moved back to Wichita Falls to be with family. Maxine is survived by her children, Kathy Hammons (Howard), of Sacramento, CA, Lonnie Samek (Chuck) of Gainesville, TX and Rick Spomer of Wichita Falls. Surviving grandchildren are Hilary Buchanan (Ryan) of Sacramento, CA, Ashley Hollenbeck of Sacramento, CA, Bradley Marcus (Janice) of Austin, TX, Shawn Pautz of Richardson, TX, Jason Pautz (Barri) of Dallas, TX, Rhianna Sehr (James) of Carmichael, CA, Zachari Samek of Gainesville, TX, Rick Spomer (Betsy) of Houston,TX, Lois Mann (Tyler) of New Braunfels, TX. Great grandchildren Bailey Buchanan, Jacob Marcus, Kate Marcus, River Pautz, Keira Mulligan, Audrey Sehr, Sebastian Spomer, Carter Mann, Ramsey Mann and Denver Mann. Angel Pesina Hernandez passed away December 6, 2023, following a long battle with dementia at the age of 82 years old. He was born in Kenedy, Texas, to Pedro and Soladad Hernandez, along with eleven brothers and sisters. He graduated Chillicothe High School in 1961, served ten years in the Army-National Guard, and had eventually retired from Rhodia by 2000, in Vernon. Angel married Sue Brown on April 21, 1963, in Chillicothe, Texas. He and Sue spent their time traveling afterwards before making their home in Wichita Falls. Over this adventure, they traveled thousands of miles through the United States with their second family of RV friends. Through the years many laughs, walks in the sunshine, and dance moves were shared with those that loved him most. To know Angel was to love him and his vivacious character that would always bring out a smile. Angel is survived by his wife Sue of Wichita Falls; two adult children, Tammy Marlow and husband Mickey of Wichita Falls; Toby Hernandez and companion Debra Reynolds of Wichita Falls. Four grandchildren include Cathy Brown and husband Cory of Denison; Brianna Petty and husband Brandon of Wichita Falls; Camber Brown and husband Carter of Fort Worth; Brittany Russo and husband Antonio of Wichita Falls. Great grandkids include Baylee, Addison, Lawson, Charlie, Conner, Harper, Greyson, Rylan and Jackson. He is also survived by a brother, Art Hernandez of Katy, Texas; sisters Mary Lewis of Kingsland, Texas, and Elsa Gracia and husband Lupe of Lancaster, Texas, along with many nieces and nephews A memorial service will be held on December 16, 2023, at 1:00 p. m. at Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home. Keri Marie Corsaut passed away on December 3, 2023. Keri was born on August 20, 1982, and her life was a celebration of creativity and individuality. Keri was raised in Burkburnett, Texas and attended BISD schools where she was a member of the Boomtown Babes and played flute in the Bulldog Brigade. After graduating from Mansfield High School, Keri joined the United States Air Force, where she trained and served as an Arabic linguist at the Defense Language Institute in Monterrey, California. Keri served in the USAF Intelligence until 2010. A true free spirit, Keri pursued her passions fiercely. Whether it be her artwork, cooking, fitness, or experimentation with vibrant hair colors, Keri lived her life like a wildflower and always stood out in any field. Chief among all her passions, Keri's most steadfast devotion was always her children. Keri's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who cherished her, but her spirit lives on in her kids, Dexter and Isla Harrison. In addition to her children, Keri is survived by her parents Tony and Lori Corsaut, her siblings Bryce, Natalie, and Colby, and their spouses Cory Rush, Jake Wallace, and Feifei Le. Keri will also be remembered by her fiance John Brooking, Meemaw Joan Griffith, and Grandmother Wanda Corsaut. Keri now joins her son Aiden Harrison, Pawpaw Ray Griffith, Pawpaw Mack Bedwell, and Grandpa LaVerne Corsaut in the Kingdom of Heaven. A memorial service to honor and celebrate the life of Keri will be held on Sunday, December 10, at 2:30 p. m. , at The Church at Sheppard located at 2101 Puckett Road in Wichita Falls. JoAnn Frances Ostrom, 87, of Wichita Falls Texas, passed peacefully away on Tuesday morning December 5, 2023. Born April 21, 1936 on the family farm in Poweshiek County Iowa to Lilburn Baker and Frances Vratisovsky. She met her future husband Walter R. Ostrom at Brooklyn High School, in Brooklyn Iowa. They were married for 51 years until his death in 2006. She was in Chorus, a Cheerleader and Home Economics while in high school,plus piano lessons growing up. She loved dancing, knitting, gardening, cooking and reading. Reared on the family farm with 3 brothers, Donald, Larry and Alan Worked Civil Service at Lackland Airforce Base for a couple years until her son and daughter were born, Jeff Ostrom, Kelly Carey and then became a homemaker for 18 years. Went back to work Civil Services for the 382nd Medical Training Wing in the test vault as a test writer from 1975 till she retired in 2009. While her husband was in the military she traveled with him to Bremerhave and Darmstadt, Germany; Heraklion, Greece. After he retired from the military they did some traveling with in the states and Canada. JoAnn is survived by two brothers, children, grandchildren Ashley (Ostrom) Ferguson and grand-son-in-law Josh, grandson Chase and granddaughter-in-law Tiffany, grandson Philippe Dumas and two great grandchildren. Larry Dwayne Chandler, 82, of Wichita Falls, TX passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 in Iowa Park, TX. Funeral services will be held Friday, 1 PM at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home in Wichita Falls, TX. Larry was born June 2, 1941 in Windom, TX to Hulen and Annie (Gibbs) Chandler. Larry graduated in 1958 from Old High High School in Wichita Falls. After high school Larry served 2 years in the Army. He married Norma Ralls on November 8, 1968 in Wichita Falls, TX. Larry was a foreman at Burgess-Manning before venturing out on his own to become owner and operator of Chandler/ Chantex Manufacturing for 28 years. When he retired he passed the business on to his son and grandsons. Larry was an avid fisher and hunter throughout his life and enjoyed doing them with his family and friends. He also loved drag racing his Ford Falcon at the Wichita Speedway. Of all the things Larry loved to do, he most enjoyed the time spent with his family, especially his great grandchildren.
