Kenneth Nolan Webb, lifelong resident of Morgan and Washington Counties, passed away unexpectedly on October 5, 2023 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Ken was born on May 26, 1958 in Fort Morgan, CO USA and graduated from Woodlin Schools in 1977. Ken was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather who married the love of his life Gloria Cable in 1978. He worked at the Beef Plant in Fort Morgan for many years. He went on to manage the Morgan Manor motel from 1994 to 2001 while also having a respected career as the depot manager at Schwans in Brush. Ken and Gloria moved to Fort Morgan to run the Riverview Apartments, a role he has done the last 8 years. Ken also took a custodian position at Baker Elementary School for the last 5 years. Ken had four children and twelve grandchildren and was known for his warm sense of humor and his style for picking out the perfect cologne. No one was ever a stranger to Ken because he loved to talk to everyone. His favorite pastime was gathering with family, watching TV, and engaging in meaningful conversations. Ken is survived by his wife, Gloria Webb; daughter, Janelle Villarreal and her husband, Alaric; son, Brandon Webb and his wife, Carrie; daughter, Chelsea Vail and her husband, Tom; son, Caleb Webb and his wife, Page; grandchildren, Abbi, Jerica, Gihven, Dehvin, Paytin, Quinten, Gage, Andrew, Kaitlin, Conner, Lucas, and Letty; sister, Barbra Seilaff and her husband, Bruce; brother, Robert Webb; brother, Jack Webb; sister-in-law, Judy Webb; brother-in-law, Art Chapman; and numerous nieces and nephews. ]Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Eugen and Margie Webb; his brother, Eugene Webb Jr. ; and his sister, Marry Ann Chapman. Family and friends of Ken are invited to join in a service of celebration and remembrance at 10 am on Friday, October 13 at the Morgan Church of the Nazarene, 221 West 7th Avenue, Fort Morgan, CO. Ruth Hancock Wells died Friday, December 1, 2023 after 98 years of a full life. She was born in Oakley, Kansas to Glenn and Esther Hancock and grew up in Wahoo, Nebraska. She attended the University of Wichita, Kansas for two years, transferring to the University of Nebraska at Lincoln where she met her future husband E. Ord Wells. They graduated in the spring of 1947 and married September 12,1947 and moved to Boulder, Colorado where Ord attended law school. They moved to Fort Morgan in 1950 after Ord finished law school and lived there until his death in 1998 and her recent death. When they first moved to Fort Morgan, they lived for a short time at the Queen Hotel where they met several other couples who had just moved to Fort Morgan and with whom they became life-long friends. Ruth and Ord had two daughters, Karen Ruth Winbourn (Reed) and Susan Loy Stearns (Mike) as well as four grandchildren, Sarah Winbourn (Trini Rodriguez), Dylan Winbourn (Holly Bayham), Gillian Winbourn and Andrew Stearns as well as one great-granddaughter, Catalina Rodriguez. Ruth will be remembered for her love of and involvement in her community and church, the United Presbyterian Church. She was active in her daughters' schools through PTA, she was a Brownie/Girl Scout and 4-H leader and taught Sunday School. She was a founding member of Arcturus Club and played in several bridge clubs over the years. Ruth received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the University of Nebraska and after her daughters graduated high school, she began in earnest to paint and sketch in addition to continuing to sew, do needlework and various other crafts. In later years she began making her own greeting cards which she sent to her family and friends as well as to many members of her community through her church. She baked muffins and scones and loved sharing them with everyone who expressed an interest. Ruth loved to reminisce and tell stories of her life and was an avid reader until her death. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Bill and Jim. In addition to her immediate family, she is survived by her brother, Robert of Beatrice, Nebraska and her sisters, Jean of Great Falls, Montana and Loy Ann (Dave) of Cambridge, Maryland as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held at the United Presbyterian Church in Fort Morgan at 11 a. m. Saturday, December 9, 2023. Laurence Ely, a beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and long-time farmer and rancher passed away on November 29th, 2023. Laurence lived in the Gary/Brush area all his life. He met his lifelong sweetheart Kathleen at a dance and the rest was history. Together they had 6 children. He worked as a mechanic for CDOT for 21 years before he "retired". He quickly busied himself with the farm and ranch. Laurence was nothing short of a hero to many, always there when he was called upon. His knowledge of mechanics, farming, and ranching was unparalleled. His true pleasure in life was spending time with his family. A visit from his Grandkids would always brighten his day and seeing his great-grandchildren brought a twinkle to his eye. He is missed and loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Our family will rest easy knowing that the wheat harvest in heaven will be in good hands. He is preceded in death by his parents Earl and Marjorie Ely, two sisters Mary Elaine Rampton and Doris Keefer, and one brother Donald Ely. He is survived by his loving wife Kathleen Ely of Brush, his six children, Jerry (Peggy) Ely of Ft. Bettie Ann Peterson, 89, went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 26, 2023. She was born to Howard and Myrtle Hutchinson on April 16, 1934. She resided in Fort Morgan most of her life with her siblings, Shirly (Lui) and Carl (both deceased). Her father passed away when she was only 9 years of age. Following high school, Bettie became the beautiful bride of her "one and only love," Gene Peterson. When Gene saw her for the first time in a movie theater, he remarked to his friend, "One day I will marry that girl!"Gene and Bettie would reside on the family farm east of Snyder and celebrate 61 years of marriage together. Bettie's passing comes 10 years to the month following her husband's death. This amazing couple would be blessed with 4 children, Kristy (Tindle), Robin (Mike) James, Benny (Pam) and Russell (Wendy). Together they were instrumental in founding 4 churches and a Christian school, still existing to this day. Their love and passion for Christ was evident and continued throughout their lives. Bettie would extend their ministries to include Child Evangelism Fellowship (Good News Clubs) Chairman for Christian Women's Club of Morgan County, Friendship Bible Coffees including numerous women's Bible Studies. During her life she was an intricate part of Snyder Bible Church as a charter member, serving as a youth leader with Gene for 25 years. She worked tirelessly serving her Lord, family and helping on the farm. Her dinner table most frequently was loaded with family and guests. She drove tractor, milked cows and filled in every other need necessary at any moment in time. She was the "Family Fun" as she took kids to community concerts, roller skating, ice skating, pony rides and swimming at the sandpit. Her countenance was cheerful and happy. . . always infectious to those around her. Her favorite jingle was "O say but I'm glad, I'm glad" and the tune "It's a Lovely Day Today. " She was known to bop into each morning singing to those around her. She loved to make people laugh with her cute antics and fake Billyteeth. To live without her means that she is now without pain and suffering and with Jesus. To those of us left behind, it means sadness for loss of an amazing woman of grace. Bettie is survived by her children, their spouses, 21 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren with 2 great, great grandchildren due in 2024. Revelation 21:4 "He will wipe away every tear from their eyes and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore for the former things have passed away. Jeffrey Allan Stock was born on September 18, 1959, in Davenport, Iowa to Ethel and Donald Stock. He died at his home in Ft. Morgan, Colorado, on November 11, 2023. Veterans Day. A coincidence not lost on his two veteran sons. Jeff was a grandfather and father, a son and brother, an uncle and friend. He loved spending time with family, Colorado, hunting, sports, and dogs. He was a tremendous athlete, playing one sport or another most of his life - softball, golf, bowling - something. If it wasn't for having to borrow his brother's (too big) shoes he might have had a shot at being selected to play for the Cincinnati Reds when he tried out in 1982. He had a deep love for Colorado's front range and mountains and was the most loyal Colorado professional sports fan ever - making sure all those he loved had at least one Denver Broncos sweatshirt in their closet at all times (even if they were a Seahawk fan). He was proceeded in death by his mother, Ethel Stock, and his father, Donald Stock. He is survived by three sons: Jeff Stock (Tisha Montgomery), Joshua Jacob Wise (Deetra Wise), Justin Stewart Ernst-Stock (Samantha Ernst). He is survived by nine grandchildren: Elle Stock, Luke Stock, Dawson Wise, Kohen Wise, Slater Davis, Phoebe Davis, Isabelle Nicole Stock, Myliah Ernst, Harper Ernst. He is survived by one sister, Patty Carlson (Don Carlson), and three brothers, Chris Stock, Chuck Stock (Carolyn Stock) and Terry Stock (Lori Stock). He is survived by numerous friends, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is also survived by his most faithful companion, Diamond. A private service will be held at a later date. Donna Marie Taylor, 77, passed away in Fort Morgan on Monday, November 13, 2023. Donna was born on June 7, 1946 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Emmitt & Hazel Taylor. The family moved to Fort Morgan in 1957 and Donna went on to graduate from Fort Morgan High School in 1964. She proceeded to grow a family on the farm with two amazing children, Shane and Shannon. If anybody knew Donna, they knew she was both feisty and loving. With an immense love for the furry, feathered, and scaled Donna's heart and home was a continuous sanctuary for critters in need. Donna loved to be with family and friends, often sharing and cooking her favorite recipes. She enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers, watching the birds and always a good read. Her raw sense of humor was never far behind. When Donna met Jerry, the love of her life, she was introduced to the world of Nascar, another love of her life. She enjoyed traveling to racing events with family and friends and cheering on her favorite, Dale Earnhardt. Donna was predeceased by her parents, Emmitt & Hazel Taylor as well as her life partner, Jerry Frasure. Donna will be dearly missed by her children Shane and Shannon Uhrick, sisters Vicki (Ed) Klassen and Linda Huffman as well as nieces and nephews. In addition, Donna left behind her fur babies Lulu, Monkey, Puddles, Tutor and Pea. There will be a memorial service on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Heer Mortuary Chapel, 225 East Platte Ave, Fort Morgan, CO followed by a reception at the Hall Event Center, 204 West Beaver Ave, Fort Morgan, CO from 12:30-2:30 PM. Carol June (Beck) Butterfield, 84, of Fort Morgan, Colorado, passed away on November 2, 2023. She was a breast cancer survivor and was battling end stage renal disease through home dialysis, however, she passed quickly to a heart attack in the care of family. Carol was born on June 17, 1939 to Myron E. Beck and Sophia "Clara" (Kostelny) in LaVeta, Colorado. There, they had a turkey farm, dairy, and saw mill. Carol and her parents moved to a dairy farm in Fort Morgan, Colorado, when she was 14. She went to Fort Morgan High School and later received her GED. Carol met Melvin Butterfield and they wed in 1955, going on to have five children, Patricia Ann, Sydney June, Glenn Myron, Judy Jo, and Cary Sue. When Carol had her children, she dedicated her life to being a fantastic and wonderful mother. Whether that was supporting her children through science fair projects, 4H projects, Cub Scout activities, BlueBird leader, or supporting them through the many passions and difficulties of their lives, she made it her mission to improve the lives of others. Carol was a second mother to many, giving love and support to those far from home or in need. Carol helped Melvin with his thrashing and custom harvesting businesses. Over the years, she also worked for Sears Roebuck, Western Sugar, then found her work family with the Morgan County Shops. She worked as an administrative assistant for the Road and Bridge Department from 1992-2020 (28 years) and enjoyed working with her guys and her connection with the community. She retired at the age of 81. When Carol wasn't filling her home with warmth, kindness, and great cooking; she enjoyed traveling to the mountains or dipping her feet in the sand on a beach somewhere. She enjoyed a few shenanigans here and there along the way, especially with her sister Myrna. Carol was predeceased by her parents Myron & Clara Beck; her husband, Melvin Butterfield; her sister, Myrna Loy Graham and husband Dr. Arthur Graham; her daughter, Patty Wahlert and husband Rod; her daughter, Sydney Bowles and husband Roger; and her daughter-in-law, Melanie Butterfield. Carol is survived by her son, Glenn Butterfield (Coleen) of Waxahachie, Texas; her daughter, Judy DeBoer of Meridian, Idaho; and her daughter, Cary Solberg (Troy) of Milliken, Colorado. In addition, she is survived by her wonderful grandchildren; Chelsey Henderson (Caleb), Dylan Bowles (Nicole), Jessie "Sunny" Hankins (Matt), Jenny DeBoer, and 7 adorable great-grandchildren. Robert Gene Buchanan, 59, passed away in Fort Morgan on Wednesday, November 8, 2023. Bob was born on July 31, 1964 in Fort Morgan to Franklin & Lois (Stevens) Buchanan. He grew up with a love of cars. Some of his favorites were the Bandimere Speed way races, Car shows, spending time with family near and far, camping, and hanging out with the grandkids. He liked to fix up cars and trucks in his spare time. He never met a stranger and made friends with everyone. Even at a restaurant, he'd stop to talk to at least five people on his way out. He loved his daughters dearly and was always a phone call away. In his younger years, he learned a lot of his skills at Dexheimer Welding. Later, he worked for Pepsi Cola Bottling Group for 17 years throughout Northeastern CO. Afterwards he dedicated 15 years to BNSF Railway. He was full of life and laughter. Loved people and the community in Fort Morgan. We will miss his upbeat personality, humor, and how he loved to razz people. Bob is survived by his daughter, Ashley Osburn, husband Zach, grandchildren, Josh SanMiguel, Alyssa Kahrs, Kylan Kahrs, Jaiden Osburn, Jordan Osburn; his daughter, Kelsey Forbes, fiance, Nicholas Cooling, grandchildren, Lilly Jo Forbes, Brogan Forbes; brothers, Frank Buchanan, John Buchanan (wife Paula Buchanan), Jerry Buchanan (wife Rene Buchanan), and Patrick Buchanan. Sandra JoAnne Pogorelz was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She peacefully passed away at home surrounded by her family on Monday, November 6, 2023, at the age of 68 years old. Sandra was born to Julie and LeRoy "Red" Scheneman on September 16, 1955, being the middle child of five siblings. She graduated from Fort Morgan High School in 1973. Sandra married her high school sweetheart, Robert Pogorelz on May 7, 1977. They have been married for 46 years. Sandra was a loving and devoted mother to their four children, and Nana to four granddaughters. Sandra truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; gardening, tending to her flowers, quilting, cheering on the Denver Broncos, watching the wildlife from her sunroom, decorating the house for every season, going to the lake, camping, and spending time with her family. Sandra had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. She was an active member of Christ Congregational Church and enjoyed being a deacon. Sandra loved becoming a grandmother and beamed with joy and happiness watching her grandchildren. She was always the biggest supporter and never missed a special event. Sandra earned two master's degrees in social work and school counseling, where she pursued her passion in the helping profession serving the community for over 35 years. Sandra was known for her kindness and compassion. She is survived by her husband (Robert Pogorelz), children (Jason Pogorelz, Amy Rizo and Alison Reece), grandchildren (Harper Rizo, Lainey Rizo, Sawyer Reece and Remington Reece), and sons-in-law (Frank Rizo and Brandon Reece). She is preceded in death by her parents (Julie and LeRoy "Red" Scheneman), and daughter (Jocelynn Pogorelz). A Celebration of Life will be held at Christ Congregational Church at 730 Ensign Street in Fort Morgan, Colorado on November 14th at 11:30am. Inurnment will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Fort Morgan. A reception will be held at the church at the conclusion of the service. The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at the Fort Morgan Hospice for their care and compassion.
