Kenneth Dale Vandever, age 77, of Kaufman, Texas passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, in Kaufman, Texas. Kenneth was born June 6, 1946, in McFarland, California to Issac and Maude Vandever The family moved to Texas where he attended school in Burleson before he joined the Marine Corps. Kenneth worked his way up to the rank of sergeant before retiring from the military. He then went on to enjoy his career as a carpenter and carpentry union superintendent. Kenneth is survived by her children Rebecca Rawls and husband Mitch Rawls, step-children Patricia Dillion and husband Keith Dillion, Angela Greenlee, Lisa Lunsford, and husband Oran Lunsford, Jerry Herron daughter in law, Sara Kin; siblings, Jerry, David, Charlie, Pete, and Maude, 16 grandkids, 37 great grandkids, and 11 great great-grandkids. He was preceded in Death by his loving wife Linda Vandever; parents, Issac and Maude Vandever; granddaughter, Sabrina Lunsford; Great-granddaughter Alexus Harris; and her son, Richard Herron. Services for Linda will be held Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at Roselawn Funeral Home, beginning with a visitation at 12:00 PM followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM, and then the committal service will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Dewey Albert McDaniel, 77, of Kaufman, TX passed away on December 6, 2023, at home. Dewey was born on March 12, 1946, to Frank and Ruth McDaniel in Pueblo, CO. He grew up in Pueblo before moving a couple of times and settled in Kaufman, TX 35 years ago. He was a jack of trades, but mostly worked in transportation as a truck driver and management. Dewey would offer a helping hand to any person. He enjoyed spending time working in the yard and loved his Indian flowers, working with his hands, building and woodwork, and playing poker on Friday Nights. On November 3, 1963, Dewey married Joyce Taylor and they spent a loving 60 years together. He was a beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Brother. His parents, Frank and Ruth, and siblings: Joann Knisley, Gerald McDaniel, Debbie Mire and Delores LaBlanc preceded him in death. Those left to cherish his memory is his wife, Joyce McDaniel, whom he loved very much; children: Randy McDaniel and wife Lisa, Sandy Cherry, Steve McDaniel and wife Tracy, Darren McDaniel and wife Melissa, Jason McDaniel and wife Kimberly, Greg McDaniel and wife Candice and April O’Neill and husband John III; grandchildren: Kenny, Corey, Chris, Chrissy, Justin, Katherine, Austin, Cheryl, Ashley, Braxton, Paige, Heather, Andrew, Jakob, Dana, Katie, Taylor, Dayten, Aidan, Sabrina, Mike, Trevor, Tarah, Ciara, Karrissa, Hanna, Isabella, Lanie and Chase; 21 great grandchildren, brother Ronnie McDaniel and wife Donna, sister-in-law Charlotte McDaniel, nephews Raymond McDaniel and Gary Lablanc; numerous other family and friends who will miss him dearly.Show more

Alice Elzner Somerville-Pessagno, a dedicated and accomplished individual, passed away on December 1, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and a remarkable career. Alice was born on December 21, 1933, in Gray's Prairie, Texas to her parents Steve Elzner and Annie Elzner (Simecek). Alice began her professional journey at ABC Television in Oklahoma City before relocating to Dallas, Texas. In 1974, she joined the University of Texas - Dallas as an Administrative Assistant of the Geosciences Department. Subsequently she was promoted to Chief Administrative Assistant, a position she held until her well-deserved retirement in 1997. Known for her friendly nature and warm hospitality, Alice was cherished by all those who had the pleasure of knowing her. She will be remembered as a kind-hearted individual who welcomed everyone with open arms. In her leisure time, Alice enjoyed pursuing various hobbies and interests. She had an uncontainable passion for fishing and would often embark on memorable angling adventures. Additionally, Alice possessed a spirit for exploration and cherished traveling to new destinations. She also found joy in visiting casinos and indulging in their lively ambiance. Alice now joins her loved ones who have passed before her: father, Steve Elzner, mother, Annie Elzner, brother Joseph Steve Elzner, brother Edwin Elzner, brother Frank Elzner, sister, Mary Elzner Hughes, and sister, Rose Elzner Reznicek. She is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Dr. Emile Pessagno, PhD, and their shared memories will forever live on in his heart. Alice is also survived by her brother Ben Elzner and sister Ann Elzner Bailey. During this time of mourning and reflection on a beautiful life-lived, let us celebrate the precious moments we shared with and of Alice Elzner Pessagno. Her positive influence on those around her and her unwavering kindness will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her. A Funeral Mass will be held at a later date at St, Jude’s Catholic Church in Gun Barrel City. She will be memorialized at Kaufman Cemetery in Kaufman. Kimberly Lynn Bounds, "Baby Doll" was a devoted, faithful, loving, and caring wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Kim found peace in God's arms December 1, 2023, as her year long battle with cancer came to an end. Kim was 61 years old. Born to Charles and Meredith Davis on July 25, 1962. She was the oldest sister to three loving brothers, Curtis, Kelly and Brandon who adored her. She loved to dance and was a member of the Kaufman Lionettes and served as the Captain her senior year. She was also voted Miss Kaufman. She was a part of the Kaufman High School Class of 1980. After graduation, she joined the legendary Tyler Junior College Apache Belles. She married her high school sweetheart, Gary Bounds, on September 24, 1983 at the age of 21, knowing he would be hers way before then. Writing his name in hearts in her sixth grade notebook as a fruition of their beautiful life that was to come. Together they had three children: Lindsey, Ryanne, and Ryder. As a wife and mother, Kim was absolute in the care, devotion, and love she poured into each of them. All left forever molded into a family by her guiding hands. As her children began to have children, she filled the role of grandmother with grace, love, and purpose. She was Baby Doll. A name she cherished deeply and held dear from her childhood. Motherhood suited her in all aspects of life amongst family and friends. Forever the mother hen to all who knew her abilities and opened their heart to her wisdom and faith. Her home was always warm and welcoming to those who entered her doorway. She loved her Soul Sisters dearly - Vicky, Charlene and Cindy. Throughout her battle with cancer, her faith in God never wavered. She was ready to go home to see her Lord and Savior and dance in heaven. "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. " Jeremiah 29:11 A celebration of Kim's life will be held at the First Baptist Church of Kaufman on, Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 2:00 P. M. She is survived by her husband of 40 years Gary Bounds of Kaufman. Her children, daughter Lindsey and her husband, Chris Abell; daughter Ryanne; son Ryder and his wife, Dani. Grandchildren Grayson, Blake, Piper, Owyn and baby Crawford who is due in April. Adoring parents Charles and Meredith Davis. Brothers, Curtis and his wife, Beverly; Kelly and his wife, Taryn; Brandon and his wife, Dara. Loving In-Laws Lonnie and Gayle Bounds; sister in-law Jamie Earnheart and husband Donald; brother in-law Garland Bounds; sister in-law Brooke Glass and husband, Robert. Roy Lee Baskins, 73, passed away in the early morning hours of November 20,2023, in his home in Kaufman, Texas. Roy began his fight with Myelofibrosis inApril of 2022 and as hard as he tried, his tired body finally succumbed to this incurable disease. Roy was born on September 1, 1950 to Clarence Edward Baskins and Doris Virginia (Crotts) Baskins in New Hope, Alabama. Roy was the first grandson of Leonard and Mamie Crotts and they loved and spoiled him so much that he chose to live with them during his childhood and school age years. Roy attended elementary school at White's Elementary in Savannah, Tennessee and graduatedfrom Hardin County High School in 1969. After graduating, he took a job at a crate factory, Hassel's Lumber Company, where he worked for several years making Coca-Cola crates. After Hassel's, he took a job managing a small grocery store and he really enjoyed his time there. While he was still living in Tennessee, Roy started going to Nixon United Pentecostal Church and soon received the gift of the Holy Ghost under Pastor Cecil Robinson. This was the beginning of a major change in his life, not only was he committing his life to God but he was also introduced to Mary Louella Norton by his pastor. Their romance began by mail correspondence and occasional phonecalls. After meeting in person, they fell in love at first sight and Roy decided to follow Mary Lou to Texas. They were married on January 19, 1985 in Balch Springs. He worked various jobs in Dallas and eventually started working at Sears, where he worked for many years. They finally chose to settle down and purchase their first home in Kaufman in 2000. In November 2008, Roy made Greater Apostolic Tabernacle his final church home in Balch Springs with Andrew Elms as pastor. In 2014, he took a job with Walmart in Kaufman and worked as a Maintenance Custodian Associate and was loved by all that worked with him. Roy and Mary Lou celebrated 38 years of sharing their love with each other in January of 2023. Roy is survived by the love of his life - his wife, Mary and stepdaughter, Stacy Smith and husband Ron of Rowlett, Texas, and 2 grandchildren, Zachary Smith and wife, Elizabeth of Fate, Zane Smith of Rowlett and 1 great grandson, Elliott Smith. He is also survived by brother, Ricky Baskins of Selmer, Tennessee, brother, Randy Baskins and wife, Belynda of Jacksonville, Florida, and sister-in-law, Marian (Virginia) Johnson and husband, Larry of Terrell, Texas, along with numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family members. Roy was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Edward Baskins; mother, Doris Virginia (Crotts) Baskins; brother, Bobby Joe Baskins; sister, Geraldine Baskins; and sister-in-law, Rose Mary Baskins. Ruben Garza Reyes, Sr. , 82, of Kaufman, TX went to be with the Lord on November 19, 2023. Ruben was born on December 28, 1940, to Felix Reyes and San Juana Garza in Allende, Neuvo Leon, Mexico. Ruben has lived in the Kaufman area for 60 years. He worked for Western Electric before getting into the concrete business. He started out driving a concrete truck, and then operated Reyes Construction for many years. Ruben enjoyed playing pool, cards, dice, and a game called Captain Cruise Ship. Ruben had a love for animals, especially his pet parrot. He enjoyed camping, and his musical instruments, the accordion and harmonica. He loved his family, and would do anything for his children. Ruben had many friends; he never met a stranger, and he would go out of his way to help anyone. His parents, son; Marcos Reyes, granddaughter; Maria, great-grandchild; Adrian, and siblings; Alonzo Reyes, Concepcion Garza, Ludivina Reyes, and Alicia Reyes Villa preceded him death.
