Edna Bryan

Edna Bryan

Age - 91

October 26, 2023

Edna Bicknell Bryan passed on Tuesday October 24, 2023. She was preceded in death by her spouse Kyle Bryan, sister Mary Fitts, parents I. J. and Arminda Bicknell. She is survived by her sister Joyce Yeager, her brother Jeff Bicknell (Sue) and numerous nieces and nephews. Edna was born in Blount County Alabama June 4, 1932. She graduated from JB. Pennington High School and afterwards attended the University of Montevallo where she received her bachelor's degree. She married her true love, Kyle Bryan, sharing 48 years of marriage before his passing. Edna taught at Susan Moore High School until she retired. Edna was a devout Christian and strived to follow the examples set by Christ to serve others. She loved gathering with her family and spending time with friends. Her love for others was contagious and she spread joy to all she met. God has a purpose and a plan for all who have walked, are walking and will walk on earth. We however are placed with a choice to determine our God given purpose then find a way to fulfill his plan. His purpose is not always clear and the road to fulfilling his plan is not always smooth. Some of us will choose the easy path which leads to nowhere and others will choose the narrow path leading us to peace and eternal life with our Lord and Savior. We are all given unique gifts to put God's plan into action, the challenge is to use them. Edna Bryan, the oldest of four children, was born into a working family and soon discovered her servant's heart. As the oldest child, she assisted with everything, cooking, cleaning, farming, gardening and taking care of her siblings. Her servant heart was gifted to her and used to fulfill God's plan for her. After graduating from The University of Montevallo, she married Kyle Bryan, establishing their home in Susan Moore where they both began to fulfill God's purpose and plan for their life together. Edna began and retired from her teaching career at Susan Moore High School. She taught multiple generations home economics and did so with a loving heart. She devoted her free time to her church and church family, serving in whatever capacity was needed. The Bible teaches us service without love is useless. Edna's service to others was done so with love spread silently, willingly and unconditionally. Her words and actions were driven from God's word, and she worked diligently to spread the love of Christ and his amazing grace to family, friends and acquaintances. To know her was to love her and she was known and loved by many. She never had children, however; she was mother to many, leaving lasting impressions to all she touched and some she never met. Her family is honored to have been the recipient of her genuine love and faithful influence in our lives. We witnessed firsthand her desire to serve God and live her life in his will. She made the choice to love and serve, she took the narrow path, serving with a loving heart, not for praise or recognition, but only for the glory of God. She determined God's plan for her life and having fulfilled it was ready to be welcomed into the arms of our Heavenly Father and loved ones who answered the call to come home before her. It wasn't long ago, she made the comment "I'm ready to go, I'm not sure why God hasn't taken me yet, but when he's ready so am I. " Edna knew where she would spend eternity and we are comforted in knowing she heard the glorious words "Well done, good and faithful servant!" Edna is healed, happy, and rejoicing with loved ones in the presence of our Glorious Savior. She worked on his plan for her every day of her life. She will be missed but our cherished memories with her will forever be sealed in our hearts and minds. Edna leaves this world in a time of chaos, prevailing evil and uncertainty. A time in which many fear the future and what's to come, however; the last page of her plan would allow her the opportunity to remind you peace is found and only available through Jesus Christ. He promises to accompany us in everything we do and carry us when the waters deepen. "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. " John 16:33 NIVGod carried her home, and she is now new again. We rest tonight knowing she is in a better place and patiently wait for the time when we meet again. Edna will lie in state at Grace Baptist Church, located in Snead, AL. , on Friday, October 27, 2023 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. A funeral service will be held at the church beginning at 11:00 AM with Bro. Curtis Hawkins presiding. Burial to follow in Hood Cemetery. Lemley Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Show more
