"Charlotte Kennedy Smith, age 86, of Savannah, Georgia passed away on Monday, February 26th, 2024. She was born in North Carolina on October 7th, 1937 to the parents of Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Arthur and Mildred Jones Harris. Charlotte was a social butterfly. She loved to talk and never met a stranger. She had a warm and welcoming personality that made everyone feel at ease. Charlotte found a very fitting job for her personality and worked as a greeter at Sam\u0027s Club for 35 years before retiring at age 82. Charlotte enjoyed spending her free time with her family. Especially her grandkids who held a very special place in her heart. She was a member of Bonnybridge Baptist Church. Charlotte was also a dual member of Laurel Chapter No. 51, where she was an officer for many years; and White Star Chapter No. 367, where she served as Past Matron. Charlotte was also a member of Georgia Court No. 1, Order of the Amaranth where she was Past Royal Matron. Charlotte is survived by her daughter, Debbie Reynolds; many grandkids; 3 great grandkids; many nieces and nephews; and her brother, Arthur Harris (Debbie). She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Robert Allen Kennedy Sr.; her husband, John C. Smith; her sons, Gary Kennedy, Robert Kennedy Jr.; and her sister, Rebecca Fink. Family will be receiving friends 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2024 at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, Georgia 31406. An Order of Eastern Star and Amaranth funeral service will be held."

"Elsie O. Powers, a beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2024. Born August 13th, 1930 in Collins, Georgia, Elsie was a dedicated servant to her Lord and family. Elsie graduated from Collins High School in Collins, Ga where she served as senior class president and received the Citizens Award. After graduation, she attended and graduated from Southwestern Business College in Atlanta, Georgia. She enjoyed work as Deputy Clerk of Superior Court in Tattnall County, Administrative Assistant in the Civil Service with top secret clearance, and along with her husband, ran several businesses. She was a member of Southside Assembly of God of Savannah, Georgia since 1974, and served over fifty years as a Sunday school teacher. She is survived by her loving daughter, Teresa Moore of Savannah, GA, and cherished granddaughter, Tiffany Wissmach (Rick), and Rick Moore (“son”), granddaughters Ellison Wissmach White (Dustin), Emilee Wissmach, brother-in-law, and several nieces and nephews. Elsie was predeceased by her father, Ellis Oliver, her mother, Lorena Oliver, her spouse, LTC Thomas C. Powers, and her loving sisters, Evelyn, Eleanor, and Edna. Elsie will be remembered for her expressions of love and kindness, her birthday cards and bags, and her commitment to prayer. She invested in people’s lives, and wanted everyone to know they were loved. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Southside Assembly of God. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Abbey West. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Baker McCullough Funeral Home (7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive Savannah, GA 31406)."

"William Ralph (Rick) Holcomb Jr. of Savannah, GA age 63 passed away on Wednesday February 21, 2024 at Candler Hospital. He was born in Royston, GA May 25, 1960 and spent most of his life in Columbia, SC. He was the son of William Ralph Holcomb Sr. and Katherine Louvenia Day Holcomb. He was a retired self-employed HVAC repairman and he could fix anything. He was a member of Savannah Harvest Church of the Nazarene and played base guitar in the praise band. He really loved playing his guitars and found joy and relaxation in playing them. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Kathy McGee. He is survived by his wife Michelle, two sons Tyler and Christopher Holcomb and a sister Jan Lander. The memorial service will be held Saturday March 2, 2024 at 4:pm at Harvest Church of the Nazarene 5995 Waters Avenue in Savannah. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Harvest Church of the Nazarene in Ricks memory."

"Marie T Stoker Rea left us very unexpectedly early on the morning of February 21, 2024. She was a beautiful soul whose smile would light up any room she entered. She loved her family and friends endlessly and did all she could to make sure everyone’s spirits were bright. Born on May 17, 1980 in Akron, OH, Marie spent every day trying to make people smile. She loved growing up with close family and shared many fond memories of times playing with her big brother and all the cousins over the years. She was a talented athlete, amazing chef, and dedicated herself to anything she had passion for, mainly the people around her and the fur babies. She leaves behind her loving spouse of nearly 20 years, Christi Rankl, along with parents Cheryl Stoker, Ralph (Diana) Rea, brother Ramsey Rea (Nikki Aherne), loving in-laws Becky (Ed) Snyder, Ray (Karen) Rankl, Erica (Steve) Gatrell, and nieces/nephews Finn, Maren, Alex, and Jasper along with Aunt Janet and so many blessed cousins and friends. The family will be receiving friends for a Memorial Service on Monday, February 26, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. at Baker McCullough Funeral Home (7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive Savannah, Georgia 31406)."

"Margaret “Bit” Yates, 75, of Savannah, entered into rest Wednesday, February 21,2024 at her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Soperton, Ga, later moved to Savannah where she met and married her late husband Charles “Arte” Yates Jr for over 50 years. She is survived by a daughter Shannon Megginson (Steve), and two sons Teton (Christy) and Flash Yates (Ashlee). Several grand and great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews in which she loved so much both on her side and Arte’s side. Her 3 brothers Murray, Mickey, and Darvin Morris, and 3 sisters Judy Douglas, Margie Waters, and Rosemary Doyle. To sum Bit up she was selfless, loving, adventurous, gentle, and so funny. She loved to garden and plant flowers and spend time with her family as often as possible. She will be very missed! Bit, we love you and we will see you soon on the other side. "Theodus Roosevelt Shannon, age 83, of Savannah, Georgia passed away in the comfort of his home surrounded by loved ones Wednesday, February 21, 2024. Theodus was born November 1, 1940 to Charlie and Nina Bell Shannon in Pasquotank County (Elizabeth City) North Carolina. He attended Salem Baptist Church in Weeksville where he gave his life to Christ. As a child he was boy scout and as he got older he wanted to serve our country and joined the United States Army in February 1957. He traveled the world and attained the rank of 1 st Sergeant spending a total of 28 years in the military and then went on to work Civil Service as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor/Director for 22 years at Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Air Field. He is preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Nina Bell Shannon, brothers Charlie Shannon Jr., Selvie Shannon, Rudolph Shannon, Curtis Shannon, sister Barbara Jean Twine and grandson Denzell Jordan. He leaves behind his wife Vanessa Shannon, brothers Hercules Shannon of Elizabeth City NC and Herman Shannon of Poughkeepsie NY, sisters Margaret Ferrell of Killeen TX, Albritha Fells of Detroit MI, Pamela Shannon of Poughkeepsie NY, children Reginald Shannon of San Antonio TX, Roderick Shannon (Lorraine) of Harker Heights TX, Renate Shannon of Killeen TX, Rochelle Shannon of Lancaster TX, Timothy Shannon of Cape Canaveral FL, Terry Shannon (Lauren) of Melbourne FL and Travis Shannon of Little Rock, AR. He had 17 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family will be receiving friends 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, Georgia 31406. "Richard Eugene Douberly, Sr., age 84, passed away Monday, February 19, 2024. Richard was born on July 3, 1939 in Savannah to the late James Oliver Douberly, Sr. and the late Cornelia Tuten Douberly. He was a graduate of Savannah High School (Class of 1957) and attended Georgia Southern University. He served in the Air National Guard for six years as part of the Radar Division of the 117th. Richard was a former Local Chairman and Legislative Representative for the United Transportation Union, and retired as a conductor for CSX Railroad. He was a member of the Scottish Rite, the Alee Shriners, and a Past Master of Solomon’s Masonic Lodge No.1 of Savannah. Richard is survived by his wife of 60 years, Andrea Douberly; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard E. Douberly, Jr., Patrick \u0026amp; Samantha Douberly, and Jason \u0026amp; Jill Douberly; brother, Robert Douberly; grandchildren, Tyler Douberly, Erin (Avery) Denton, Mary Douberly, Anna Grace Douberly, Matthew Douberly, Sarah (Peyton) Cooper, and Jacob Douberly; and two great grandchildren, Charlotte and Palmer Denton. Richard loved life, loved his family and loved the Lord, with whom he now resides in perfect peace. A private graveside service was held on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at Hillcrest East Cemetery."

Douglas Edward Moon

"Douglas Edward Moon, 59, of Savannah, Georgia passed away on Sunday, February 18th at St. Joseph’s hospital after a short illness. Douglas was a family man who loved the outdoors. He loved Savannah and always said that he could always breathe a little easier when those coastal winds would blow. A native of Chicago, Illinois, he was the son of the late W.J. Moon and Judy Ann (Stout) Moon. He was preceded in death by his father, W.J. Moon; brother, Rodney Moon; and two infant sons. He loved his family with all of his heart! He loved his wife of 36 years, Cheryl Moon, and had two beautiful children, Jacob Isaac Moon and Sarah Victoria Moon. Douglas was the best father, supporting his children with their passions. He shared his love of the outdoors with Jake. He was a Boy Scout leader in Troop 499, Grayson, Georgia, and supported Jake as he earned his Eagle Scout Award. Sarah shared his love for country music and horses. They often spent their Saturdays at the barn, riding and taking care of horses. Nothing meant more to him than his parents, but his mom was so special to him. He loved his sisters, Diana Moon, Lorrie (Moon) Mangum, Missy (Moon) Pack and his brothers, Rodney Moon, Lance Moon and Matthew Moon. He also cherished his sisters-in-law Diane Bolt and Debbie (Bolt) Glaser. Douglas grew up with a passion for craftsmanship that would guide him throughout his life. Over the span of four decades he honed his skills as a master carpenter, metal worker, and artisan mold maker. He loved working as a mold and capital maker of architecture columns with his dad at Hartmann Sanders. Some of his work is displayed at Carnegie Hall and Disney World...which will stand the test of time. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to friends and family! Douglas enjoyed the simple pleasures of being outdoors, loving fishing and hunting. He was a great storyteller especially when it came to his fish stories. He loved college football, especially his Georgia Bulldogs, Florida State Seminoles, and Oklahoma Sooners. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. A celebration of life service is planned for St. George Island, Florida, his favorite fishing spot. Our family spent many vacations enjoying swimming, fishing, playing games, and eating shrimp. We will always cherish those sweet memories. Donations can be made in his name to the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF). He touched so many people! He will truly be missed!"

She was self-employed as a housekeeper for many years. In her spare time, she enjoyed shopping, dancing, drawing, singing, traveling, and spending time on the beach before her health began failing. She loved to watch her soap operas and Hallmark movies. Her greatest loves were her grandbabies. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Embree C. Minchey, Sr. and son, Embree C. Minchey, Jr. Survivors include her children, Monica McKinney, Christy Holland and Tim Milsaps (Tracy); daughter-in-law, Amber Minchey; grandchildren, Alex Caldwell, Chase Kirk, Haley Holland, Gage Minchey, Shelbey Price, Julian Minchey, Avery Minchey and Gunner Minchey; brother, Henry M Kilpatrick, Jr. (Beckie); nephew, Jason Kilpatrick; and numerous cousins.
