Wayne James Fleischhacker, a loving husband, devoted father, and esteemed union organizer, unexpectedly passed away on November 25, 2023, at the age of 65. He was born on November 20, 1958, in Brainerd, Minnesota, to the late Gerald and Joyce Fleischhacker. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 1st at 2 PM at Emblom Brenny Funeral Services. A visitation will be held on Friday from 1:00 P. M. until the hour of the service on Friday. Wayne was a proud resident of Hillman, Minnesota, where he built a life filled with joy, laughter, and cherished memories. He was known for his passion for the outdoors, particularly fishing and hunting. Wayne's expertise on the water led to his endearing nickname, "Walleye Wayne," a testament to his skills and love for fishing. His friends and family will forever treasure the stories shared and the many trips they embarked on with him. Beyond his outdoor pursuits, Wayne had a true knack for barbecuing. He became famous for his mouth-watering ribs, which he generously shared with those lucky enough to taste them. His culinary talents were a source of delight and brought everyone together, creating lasting memories around the dining table. Family meant the world to Wayne. Throughout his 38 years of marriage to his beloved wife, Faira, their bond grew stronger with each passing year. Together, they built a foundation of love, support, and unwavering commitment. Wayne's children were a constant source of pride and joy for him. He treasured their achievements, celebrated their milestones, and was always there with open arms and a warm heart. Professionally, Wayne dedicated his life to advocating for workers' rights as a union organizer for the AFL-CIO. He was highly respected within the organization and worked tirelessly to create better conditions and fair treatment for fellow workers. Wayne's passion and dedication demonstrated his unwavering belief in equality and justice for all. In his leisure time, Wayne found solace in the great outdoors. Whether he was exploring the beauty of nature or spending quality time with loved ones, he embraced life's simple pleasures. His infectious laughter and kind-hearted nature brought joy to everyone fortunate enough to know him. Wayne James Fleischhacker will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. Kevin Burt passed away on November 19, 2023 at the St. Cloud Hospital. A Celebration of Kevin’s life will be held on Friday, November 24 at Emblom Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls. A time of gathering for family and friends will be held from 9:00 A. M. until the hour of the service on Friday at the funeral home. The military honors will be provided by the Little Falls American Legion Post #46. Kevin was born on August 3, 1949 in Little Falls, MN. He graduated from Little Falls High School in 1967 and immediately enlisted in the United States Army after graduation. He proudly served for three years and remained in the MN National Guard at Camp Ripley for 12 years. He married Janet E. Popp of Little Falls on December 18, 1970 and they were blessed with three children, Chad, Ryan and Stephanie. The first 2 years of their marriage they lived in Alabama, Kevin attending school for aircraft mechanics. They returned to Little Falls where Kevin worked at T. O. Plastics, Monarch, Central MN Tool and AirBorn until his retirement in 2018. Kevin is survived by his wife Janet, children Chad Burt (Marnie) of Las Cruces, NM, Ryan Burt (Shelly) of Kodiak, AK and Stephanie Burt of Little Falls. Grandchildren Ella and Elijah Burt, Austin Spaulding and Destiny (Tyler) Spaulding. Great grandchildren Landon and Grayson LeBlanc and Blaykley Wuellner. His siblings Randy Burt, Trice (Marsh) Pearson, Sally Gammon, Stephanie (Ed) Strickland, Charlie (Sandy) Burt and in-laws Gloria (Mike) Sweeney, Marlys (Bruce) Dobis, Gwen (Dennis) Nagorski, Dale (Colleen) Popp, Nadine (Donnie) Jelinski and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by Don and Margaret Burt, Debbie Wydra (sister), Bryce Strickland (nephew), and Richard Gammon (brother-in-law), and in-laws Eugene and Regina Popp (parents-in-law), Warren Larson (brother-in-law), Dan Dobis (brother-in-law), Shawn Killeaney (nephew) and Mike Killeaney (nephew). She will be dearly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. She began her education in St. Stephen, MN before attending District School near St. Wendel for three years. Mary Ann completed her high school education at Little Falls High School and went on to attend St. Cloud State University for two years. On June 24, 1947, Mary Ann was united in marriage to the late Richard Pierzina at St. Stanislaus Church in Sobieski, MN. Together, they owned the Parkway Inn in Bowlus. Mary Ann became a teacher in 1945 at 18 years old. After dedicating 10 years of her life to teaching in a one-room country schoolhouse, she became a teacher at Our Lady of Lourdes in Little Falls, where she continued to mold young minds for fifteen years until her retirement in 1985. Mary Ann had a zest for life and enjoyed many hobbies and activities. She delighted in baking bread, quilting, embroidering, playing cards, dancing, and watching her beloved Twins and Vikings. Above all, she cherished the time spent with her large and loving family. As an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Mary Ann's kindness and compassion touched the lives of many throughout the community. Mary Ann will be lovingly remembered and missed by her children: Carol Ann Olson of Rice Lake, WI; Ronald Richard (Laura) Pierzina of Belgrade, MT; Patrick Stanley (Gail) Pierzina of Bozeman, MT; Constance Agnes (Harold, Jr. "Danny") Lipke of Little Falls; Catherine Marie (Doug Lucas) Pierzina of Eau Claire, WI; Rosalyn Ruth (Roger) LeBlanc of Little Falls, Marilyn Judy (Joseph) Curtiss of Little Falls, and Joseph Eugene (Donna) Pierzina of San Diego, CA. She is also survived by her siblings, George (Bernice) Beniek of Chanhassen, James Beniek of Bowlus, Eugene Beniek of Rice, Arthur (Charlotte) Beniek of Excelsior, and Ruth (Andy) Borash of Excelsior. Mary Ann leaves behind a legacy of love through her 29 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, August and Anna Skudlarek Kutzmann Beniek; her step-father, Stanley Beniek; her beloved husband Richard Pierzina; her sister, Mary Ann Healy, and grandsons Kyle and Chad Lipke, Forrest Olson, as well as her son-in-law Rodney Olson. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, November 6, at 11:30 A. M. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls, with Father Patrick Hoeft officiating. Joyce Andrews, age 91, died peacefully in her home on October 23, surrounded by family following many visits by Friends. A celebration of Joyce’s life will be held on Saturday, October 28 at 10:00 A. M. at Faith Lutheran Church in Little Falls. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 9:00 A. M. until the hour of the service on Saturday at the church. Joyce Mae Victoria Gohl was born on May 19, 1932 on her father’s homestead near Floodwood, MN. She was the only child born to Ernest and Olinda (Wolter) Gohl. She was raised on their farm, attending school in Floodwood where she graduated in 1950. She then attended St. Cloud State Teachers College graduating in December of 1953. Joyce met the love of her life, Robert "Bob" Andrews in the summer of 1950. They were married on December 19, 1953 in Floodwood. Joyce taught elementary school for a year and a half in Roseville, MN. She attended one year at Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis and graduated along with Bob from the Missions Course. Joyce and her husband were called to be missionaries in Bolivia. In August of 1957 she headed to Coaba Farm in Bolivia where she served as a teacher for missionaries’ children. Joyce, along with her husband Bob served as US missionaries in Bolivia, where all five of their children were born. In 1973, they resigned from the mission and moved back to Floodwood, where Joyce taught Head Start for many years. In 1985 Bob was called to be the director of the World Mission Prayer League. So, Bob and Joyce moved to Minneapolis, where they lived until retirement in 1997. They retired to the homestead Joyce was born on. They moved to Little Falls in 2012. Joyce had a true love for the Lord and had a heart that loved all God’s creations. She gloried at the color of the fall leaves, sunsets, clouds, mountains and rivers. But more than anything, Joyce loved people. When she and Bob returned from any of their many trips, Joyce always commented on the people. She took many people into her home, fed them, taught them from her large array of skills and loved them. And she loved them well, with the love of Jesus driving her. Joyce loved to sew. She made wedding dresses, suits, pants, quilts, curtains and pillows. In her later years she especially enjoyed making crazy quilts, pillows and table runners, which she generously gifted to family and friends. Joyce was preceded in death by her father, Ernest Gohl; mother, Olinda Gohl; sons-in-law, Randy Vorderbruggen, Steve Tveit; daughter-in-law, Dienne Andrews and grandson, Sam Vorderbruggen. She is survived by her children, Christian (Susan) Andrews, Deborah Lynn, Nathan (Pam) Andrews, Raquel (Scott) Lundberg, Ruth (Tim) Finseth; grandchildren, Naomi (Nick) Irons, Ben Andrews, Tanya (Brandon) Baity, Jasen Tveit, Jake Vorderbruggen, Cameron Finseth and Sarah Finseth; great-grandchildren, River, Phoenix and Willow Baity. Dave Scherping, 51-year-old resident of Big Lake, MN, formerly of Little Falls, died Saturday, June 3 as the result of a motorcycle accident in Sherburne County, Minnesota. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 9 at 11:00 A. M. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Little Falls, MN with Father Ben Kociemba officiating. A visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 P. M. on Thursday, June 8 and from 9:00 A. M. until 10:15 A. M. on Friday, June 9 all visitation times will be held at Emblom Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls. The Knights of Columbus will pray at 7:00 P. M. on Thursday evening at the funeral home. Dave grew up in Little Falls with his five siblings. He attended and graduated from Little Falls Community High School with the Class of 1990. He attended Central Lakes College in Brainerd and received his Associates Degree in Criminal Justice. Dave worked for the Morrison County Sheriffs Office as a Jailor and Dispatcher while attending Central Lakes College. After receiving his degree, Dave was instrumental in expanding the K-9 department with the Morrison County Sheriffs Office. He worked for the Morrison County Sheriffs Office from August 14, 2006 until November 24, 2017. Dave was united in marriage to Theresa Dahl on May 16, 1992 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls. The couple made their home in Little Falls and later divorced. He was a member of the Boy Scouts, St. Mary’s Catholic Church where he was baptized, confirmed and was an alter server for a number of years. Dave enjoyed camping, traveling, fishing, hunting, attending concerts, motorcycle rides and finding a good deal on Market Place. He treasured his time spent with his fiancé Donda and their home on Ann Lake that they completely remodeled, their 3 basset hounds, Shirley, Phoebe and Fiona aka Corn Dog and all of their grandchildren. He will forever be loved and missed by his family!
