MUNCIE – Angela G. Smith, 62, passed away on Wednesday morning, February 28, 2024.She was born on June 24, 1961 in Muncie, the daughter of Orville N. and Paula A. (Marsh) Sodders and graduated from Cowan High School.Angela attended Blue River Valley Church of the Nazarene. She was friendly, outgoing, loved people and had lots of friends. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and cherished her time with them.Surviving are two children, Diann Niccole Knight and Dustin Dale Smith; three grandchildren, Mallory, Maitland and Ryan; two great-grandchildren, Kennedy and Landon David; three siblings, Dawna Simpson (husband, David), Neil Brian Sodders (wife, Bonnie) and Connie Taylor (husband, Richard); special friend she grew up with, Ada Jones Rost, who was her “bonus sister” and many other close friends.She was preceded in death by her father, Orville N. Sodders; her mother, Paula A. Montague; three siblings, Cheryl Cobb, Stephen Brent Sodders and Annette Sodders; and her grandparents, Gifford and Frances Marsh.Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel. Teresa graduated from Muncie Southside High School in 1980.Teresa was employed as a Home Health Aide for more than 10 years. She was born on December 5, 1965, in Muncie IN., to the late Hershel and Claudia (Carver) Hargis. Tamara was a hardworking, hard-headed woman, who never took no for an answer. She was previously employed with International Paper. She enjoyed smoking her cigarettes, drinking her Coke, scratching lottery tickets, crocheting, and reading books and she was a historical buff. Sid was the baker of all bakers, locally known for her cheesecakes. She was so smart; she knew a little bit about a lot of things. She was always trying the next best thing to make a little money. She also loved watching her hummingbirds. She was loved and is survived by her fiancé' Kelly Martin, her only daughter Tori Nicole Mitchell, grandson Forrest Michael Mitchell, Raven (dog), one brother, her bobo, Terry Hargis, her favorite sister-in-law, Teresa Hargis, nephews Chad, and Matt (David) and Lukas Hargis; nieces Alyvia (Jacob Price), Brandi & Emma Hargis; extended family Tonya Naylor, Angie Mauller, Mark Kissick, Robin Lynn Holder, ex-husband Bobby Mitchell, as well as several other family members in Tennessee & West Virginia. Elizabeth Ann Leslie, 66, of Muncie, Indiana passed away Saturday, February 24, 2024.She was born on Sunday, June 2, 1957, in Jersey City, New Jersey to the late Thomas Barrett and Elizabeth (Froude) Bian.After graduating from Hunterdon Central High School in Flemington, NJ, Elizabeth ("Liz") spent many years living and working in Milwaukee (and Madison) Wisconsin. Eventually, she took a job in the Grand Canyon, where she met and married her first and only husband, Kyle Leslie. They moved to Indianapolis (where she would spend the majority of her life), having one child together. After spending some years as a homemaker, she returned to school and received an associate degree in paralegal studies from Kaplan University. Liz spent her career as a paralegal at the law firm Bleecker, Brodey & Andrews, and was a cherished member of their company. Outside of work, she enjoyed cooking and baking, gardening, and taking walks in nature. She was also an avid reader. Travel was important to Liz, and she had been all over North America, and visited Europe several times. For many consecutive years, she would make custom Christmas cards by hand, just to send to family and friends. She was baptized and raised as a Catholic, but later reinvigorated her faith in the Protestant tradition, contributing many hours of service as a member of Southport Christian Church. Music was very important, and a source of joy. Liz possessed a remarkable combination of both conscientiousness and openness. She leaves behind her two sisters, Nancy & Janet, her son Devin (Jadelynn), and two grandchildren, Ezra, and Naomi. Memorial visitation is Thursday, February 29, 2024, 5:00 pm until 6:30 pm at Indiana Funeral Care, Greenwood Chapel.Memorial service will begin at 6:30 pm. Pastor John Kixmiller to officiate.

MUNCIE-- Robert A. Chambers (Bob), 72, passed away at I.U. Ball Memorial Hospital on Sunday, February 25, 2024. Bob was born in McMinnville, Tennessee on May 3, 1951 to harry and Velma (Copeland) Chambers.  He later relocated to Muncie, Indiana and graduated from Muncie Southside High School in 1970.  He was married to his wife of fifty years, Teresa (Callahan) Chambers. Bob was an outgoing person who never met a stranger and enjoyed staying busy.  He worked at Duffy Tool and Stamping, the Delaware County Highway Department, and as a security guard for Maring-Hunt Library, until his retirement in 2023.  He was a reserve officer for the Muncie and Parker City Police Departments, and a long-standing member of the Eagles Lodge 231.  In his free time, he like to bowl in local leagues, golf with friends, play softball, cruise on his pontoon boat, ride his Harley, and spend time with family.  Bob is survived by his wife, Teresa; daughters Stacey Linn (Richard), Nikki Chambers, and Jamie Chambers; grandchildren, Hayden, Kendall, Ashton, Jayden, Tionna, Dallas, Ariana, Cire, and Kash; sister-in-law Debbie Oliver; brother-in-law Lee Dobbs; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Patricia Dobbs. Calling hours will be from 3-6 pm on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at the Meek's Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel.  There will be an additional calling hour at 11am, Monday, March 4, 2024 prior to the funeral service at noon.  Burial will immediately follow at Gardens of Memory in Muncie.

Cathy Joan (Walsh) Allan, 77, passed away on February 11, 2024, after a long, ten-year battle with cancer.Cathy was born in Muncie on February 12, 1946, the daughter of Lawrence R. and Joan (Meyer) Walsh. Cathy graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1964. After graduation she moved to El Paso Texas to attend Texas Western College, now known as The University of Texas at El Paso. That is where met her husband Jim Allan.Cathy was known to voice her opinion at times, which made life with her an enjoyable experience for everyone who knew her. Cathy also known as “Nana”, truly enjoyed family gatherings, travel, and vacations. Some of her best memories included trips to Ireland, Paris, and Canada with her grandchildren. There were also numerous summer vacations at Hilton Head, South Carolina. Nana was loved by everyone in the family and will be remembered and deeply missed by everyone.Cathy is survived by her husband of fifty-eight years, Jim Allan; children, James (Amy) Allan and Jennifer (Brad) Allan-Hedrick; grandchildren, Kayla, Tristan, Jacob, Cameron, and Aidan; great-grandchildren, Rayland, Arabella, and Rosalina; brother, Bob (Ivy) Walsh; cousins, Jan and Chris Klein, Steve and Sandie Mills, Gary and Mimi Bontempo, and Greg Bontempo.Cathy was preceded by her parents, Lawrence and Joan Walsh; brother, David Walsh; and aunt, Janet Mills, who was like a second mother and grandmother to Cathy and all of her children.Per Cathy’s wishes there were no public services held and she was cremated.Online condolences may be left for the family at www.meeksmortuary.com

James A. Jackson, 82, of Gaston, passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at Muncie Estates. Jim was born on Decembrer 14, 1941, to the late Homer and Eva Jackson. He was a 1960 graduate of Gaston High School. Jim worked at Chevrolet of Muncie for 30 years, retiring in 1994. Jim also worked as a Farrier. He was a member of Prairie Grove Christian Church, the Matthews Masonic Lodge, Alexandria Eagles Lodge, the Gaston Conservation Club, and a 40-year member of the NRA. Jim was a marksman who enjoyed hunting, shooting firearms and archery, calf roping, horses, and farming. Jim is survived by four children, Katherine Blevins, Susan Mattingly, Laura Pickett, and Joseph Jackson (wife Jennifer); seven grandchildren, Justin Mattingly, Stephanie Nelson (husband Jason), Bradley Baumer (wife Katie), LeeAnne Anderson, Julia Jackson, Jillian Jackson, and Josiah Jackson; three great-grandchildren, Cameron Nelson, Melanie Nelson, and Jackson Baumer; and several nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his loving wife of 20 years before her death in 1980, Marcia Jackson; and two brothers, Donald Jackson and Clifford Jackson. A funeral service to celebrate Jim’s life will be held at 11:00 am Monday, March 4, 2024, at Prairie Grove Christian Church, 16775 N. County Road 775 W. in Gaston. Pastor Brian Wise will officiate.
